Been staying in Winchester for years to break up trip to VT. Usually stay directly off of highway but was looking for something different. This hotel was quite nice, as it had a restaurant and bar. It was about five minutes off 81 but if you don’t mind the extra drive I’d recommend staying the night.

This is a fantastic hotel. We had a superior room that was very spacious and included a jacuzzi tub and even a working gas fireplace. The room was equivalent to any of the best hotels in Asia, where we frequently travel. The only fault is they should have cleaned our room. However, they took $100 off the stay to compensate and gave us a complimentary breakfast. We definitely would stay there again.

We had a wonderful time in Winchester, the George Washington was a great choice. It has a beautiful interior...classy but not over the top. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is located right downtown so we could walk to many of the sights we wished to see. We are planning to come back in the spring to Winchester and we will be staying again at The George Washington.

Great experience. Staff at desk and in lounge were very friendly and helpful. This is a lovely old hotel. It is well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The indoor pool and hot tub were a nice way to end the evening.

Beautiful hotel, very little parking. We paid for both nights but were unable to park because the small lot was full. We ended up parking on the street both nights.

Needs a complete overhaul & update. I’m sure it was fine in the 1920’s but the layout is poor & modern conveniences are lacking.

Staff was too busy talking to each other to care about us. Had issue with tv and a gentleman came to help. Although he couldn’t solve issue, he was kind and considerate. Wanted us to appreciate the beauty of the hotel and showed us the ballroom. He made up for staff at registration desk

The hotel and parking lot were easy to find. Online check-in the night before made getting a card key from the friendly, accommodating front desk staff member, quick. It is a well-decorated, interesting, and inviting hotel that has been around for a long time. The spacious room, closet, and bathroom made a good impression along with a much appreciated very comfortable bed and pillow. The only issue was that the water in the bathroom was hot enough to scald.

My wife and I stayed overnight and it was a wonderful stay! Room was clean, lots of room to move, comfy beds and quiet. Staff was friendly and awesome. We didn't swim this time but the pool looked great, will have to check it out next time. Loved the bar area too...looking forward to our next stay!

We were very bothered that when we called the extension for room service multiple times (around 9:30pm, during their business hours), no one ever picked up the phone. Eventually we gave up, frustrated and hungry.

Wonderful historic hotel in the center of Old Town Winchester. Walk to the walking mall filled with excellent dining and shopping. This property gives the visitor a taste of the real Virginia during George Washington’s time.

The hotel was clean and staff friendly. Average hotel experience. Furniture worn, carpets worn, bed post sticks out and catches knees every time you go around the bed corner. We only slept here. Uno restaurant in basement was mediocre. I guess if you want to be on the walking mall this is ok. Parking was the worst. Getting charged $15 extra per night for parking was unexpected and there are not enough parking spaces for the number of rooms. Really should have been better.

The staff was lovely however the rooms do not get cleaned during the weekend we were there and prices for rooms are charged more during Apple Blossom. I parked in the garage that stated The George Washington hotel and was imposed a higher fee because the hotel did not have any exterior parking spots available and those are the ones that the hotel only grants their rate for. There was no clarification for that prior.
