About this apartment rental

Independent accommodation on the Greek island of Ikaria, longevity island: 2 bedrooms / 4 people, upstairs of 1 character villa with bathroom, fitted kitchen, mosquito nets, terrace, breathtaking view. Possibility of 1 additional bedroom / 2pers, with bathroom adjoining the ground floor. Comfortable studio, in a quiet, flowered, shaded environment, with many fruit trees. 900m from the beautiful sandy beach of Messarti (surf school). Access on foot in 10mn by footpath in the center of the village of Gialiskari, where we find the port, shops and taverns, pharmacy, bakery, bus, car / motorbike rental etc.
The north wind (Meltem) brings freshness in summer, and a feeling of well-being on the terrace and in the bedrooms, which each have 2 windows, tilt and turn, shutters and mosquito nets. The Meltem advantageously replaces the air conditioning, useless in our house.
Ikaria offers sea and mountain, festive activities, where you will be immersed in authentic Greece. Hiking, in spring, but also in summer, in magnificent landscapes, elevation 1200m. Bathing in 1 clear and transparent water. Warm welcome from the ikariotes. Many taverns offering local products, at affordable prices. In Ikaria, each family makes its wine, a natural wine, without preservatives. Ikaria is also famous for its heather honey, its olive oil pressed in the old way, its vegetables cultivated organically, with varieties of yesteryear; a delight! To move around, hire a scooter or car quickly (contact us.) The island, 75 km by 25, has many sites to discover, and is worth a visit, both from the point of view of the sites and landscapes as contacts that can be established on this occasion.
Historically, IKARIA was independent; faced with the invasion of the Ottoman Empire, chose the protection of Athens. It served as an open prison under the dictatorship of the colonels. Thousands of people have been deported there, including Mikis Théodorakis. This situation did not allow its tourist development, like its neighbors, Mikonos or Samos. Fantastisch !!!

Ende Juli 2019 verbrachten wir unseren Urlaub als Familie bei Martine und Nikolas. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und gleich mit hausgemachter Marmelade verwöhnt. Der Ausblick von der Terrasse ist einfach wunderbar!!! Die Wohnung entspricht der Beschreibung und uns fehlte es an Nichts. Die Vermieter waren sehr hilfsbereit, herzlich und über Ihre Restauranttipps waren wir immer sehr dankbar.

Amazing Location and the best views

Amazing Location and the best views

After spending 10 days in Spain, we were looking forward to downtime in Greece. We were not disappointed! Martine was waiting for us upon arrival to the amazing home. The description was spot on. Pictures and words do not do this place justice! The sunsets are magical. It is centrally located for you to spend the day on the beach (within sight of the place), yoga at the Egg, visit the Monetary, drive to the hot springs of Therma and even visit magical Seychelles Beach. We ended our touring at the local winery. Martine and Nicolas were very welcoming and even made us homemade apricot jam and lemonade fresh from their garden. We will definately be back and will stay with Martine.

Our family of 4 had an amazing time at the apartment! Martine & Nichola were kind and welcoming hosts to their beautiful home in Gilaliskari. We learned many important things about Ikarian life and culture. There were literally postcards in the souvenir shops with the amazing view we enjoyed every morning from our balcony! Over the past 20 years, Nichola has created his own garden of Eden with fruit trees and vegetables along every terrace level. We enjoyed our day exploring the island, surfing and swimming at the beach, shopping in the local markets and relaxing at the apartment. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

the house is very beautiful, the view is wonderful. Nicola and Martine are very kind. they prepare you a delicious breakfast with the products of their garden. very recommended for the families.
