The Neighborhood:
KaMilo is a walkable upscale community of larger units. The two-acre amenities center has a family pool, a lap pool, two hot tubs, gym - and on the other side of the neighborhood there is a putting green.
Stay in this luxury townhouse includes a Club Card that gives access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club. The Beach Club beach bay is protected and has cabanas and recliners available on a first come basis. Napua, an upscale restaurant and bar located right by the sandy beach.
The beautiful beach at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel beach is less than a mile away. There is also a trail that leads over to Puako.
Getting Around:
The Big Island has much to see and do and it is highly advised that guests rent a car to take advantage of the many things this island has to offer. Hawaii Island does not have abundant public transportation, so renting a car is best. However, if you do not drive you may consider hiring a charter tour, driver, or Uber.
Other Things to Note:
The driveway is extremely short and we have a golf cart to boot. The association requires the golf cart to be parked inside the garage and therefore we are left with room to park one large SUV or Van inside the garage and one compact car (i.e. Honda Fit) outside the garage (the bumper cannot overhang into the road). The compact car must also be parked straight in and not at an angle. There are 2 guest spaces nearby and at the pool however these spaces are for day parking only and you may not park there overnight. We understand this is inconvenient given the size of the home, but these are association rules that we must abide by.

Overall, we had a lovely time at this home. It is very convenient with a beach club that has great snorkeling just a short drive away and the pool/gym are within walking distance. All of the rooms are nice and the living room has a large couch which makes it easy for a large gorup to spend time together.
The property manager was very easy to communicate with and responsive to any issues that arose. He was also very flexible with our check in time as our flight arrived pretty early in the day, which was very appreciated.
However, there were a few little things that made the stay a bit less than perfect.
1. There were only 9 dinner plates in the cupboard, and for a house that accomodates 10 people, it made meals difficult. we were constantly having to wash dishes or use the tiny desert plates.
2. Similar situation with towels. There were only 10 bath towels and 8 beach towels. It would have been nice to have more stocked.
3. The scissors in the kitchen don't work and there was no tin foil - those kinds of basic items are important when staying at a rental house.
4. The air conditioning in the downstairs smaller room was glitchy and it was often much warmer than the rest of the house.
5. Lastly, the sun shines intensely onto the patio and living room during the last half of the day. It would have been nice if they had some sort of roll down patio shade to block it a bit so it was more comfortable for us to use that space in the afternoon/early evening.

The house was everything we could have hoped for. The perfect size for a big family gathering. When we ran out of paper towels and trash bags we alerted the vacation rental team and they responded quickly and brought it to us the same day. You can’t go wrong staying at this location. Everything about it was first class. Thank you Burt and team for making our stay amazing.

Perfect place for a family vacation. House was amazing, lots of space pool area was nicely kept and the golf cart was such a great perk as my brother was staying in same complex at other end made for easy access. Having all the beach supplies and toys really helped enhance our trip. Would definitely rent this house again. Thanks for the memories.

Beautiful property with a fully retractable window connected to the lanai. Fully stocked kitchen. A variety of beach gear—everything 10 people needed to enjoy the beach without having to rent or buy equipment. Clean. Property manager was immediately available when we had questions.

This home is perfect. Three generations of family members, 6 in total, stayed here and enjoyed every second of our time in this home nearly as much as the time we spent on the beach and exploring the island. The upstairs lanai was my personal favorite aspect, along with the striking cleanliness of the home. We will be back.

We had a fantastic time at this home in Kamilo. It was super clean, well stocked, there was a kind gift when we arrived, and all of the amenities were more than enough to make our trip perfect. Super easy to communicate with the host, who was quickly responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend this home!

Our family of 7 including kids and grandkids just returned from our stay in this house at the Mauna Lani resort. It is well equipped, clean and very spacious. The manager Burt went out of his way to make sure we have everything we need. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time on the Big Island.

Three generations, 9 of us, stayed at Kamuela for a week and we all agreed we would return in a heartbeat.
Property is as pictured. Well maintained with plenty of room for all. Loved the balcony for meals overlooking the golf course, the multiple bedroom patios, and the great room with spacious kitchen and dining room.
Community has two great pools, one adult and one family friendly. The golf cart provided was a blast for all and allowed easy access to the local shops and resort restaurants as well as the Mauna Lani Beach club. It’s an outstanding combo of amenities that enhanced our fun quotient!
Burt and Krish are superb communicators and made us feel both welcome and supported. Thanks for a terrific stay!

In my humble opinion this is probably the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed in during a vacation. The pictures of the home are essentially exactly what you walk into upon arrival.
Although there was a minor hiccup in getting into the property Burt was so caring and calm when the Vrbo assistant connected us. During the stay Burt was easily accessible and provided many suggestions on various interest we had, could be found.
Immediately you observe the owner spared no cost in maintaining this beautiful property. The layout is perfect for any family and the decorative touches were well thought out. We had a mixture of older and younger adults and everyone was well accommodated.
The amenities listed are just the basics of what was provided. You will find top notch gems throughout the home. The one bedroom up stairs and the master bedroom and two additional guest bedrooms down stairs were perfect for our group. The three Lani areas were eye pleasing and soul soothing.
They golf cart was great for travel to the private beach.
We didn’t visit the resorts shopping area but were pleased we had the option.
Definitely adhere to the car size recommendations as it is pertinent to allow ample space to park in the drive way and garage.
We hope to return to this property some day, it was definitely a big part of our vacations success!

This house and location were beautiful and I am super picky about where we stay. We had our elderly parents from Australia join us and they RAVED about this spot. No stone was unturned when this location was designed as a luxury property. The only suggestion everyone in our group had was softer beds. However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. I cannot say enough. I would totally recommend anyone who loves beaches to take the 10-minute drive to Hapuna Beach, I have been fortunate in my life to visit many beautiful beaches such as Bondi, but this one would definitely be in my top 3. Thanks for a great vacation, we were sad to leave.

The property was wonderful - the location is great, the house and furnishings were better than the pictures show, the beds were super comfortable, and the house gets great light. The golf cart was a very nice amenity as well! We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again!

After 2 weeks of island hopping this unit was the perfect ending for our family trip. Beautiful place, with all the equipment for fun in the kitchen, on the beach, at the pool on or the courts.

I have wonderful things to say about our stay here. Everything was fabulous! The hosts were terrific! The home had all the modern equipment that we needed. The facilities were lovely. There was a large family pool and a second pool for lap swimming. The location was great. Thanks Burt and Krish for everything!

First of all, the home is as beautiful as the pictures show it to be. There was plenty of room for our family of 8 adults to have their own space and for us all to relax together. Morning coffee on the lanai while watching the golfers putting was both relaxing and entertaining. There was every kind of kitchen item needed, even a coffee bean grinder for a fresh cup to start the day.
The Ka Milo community the house is located in is very clean and safe for families. The quick walk or fun ride in the provided golf cart to the pools and hot tubs was very easy. There are several great restaurants nearby from a coffee shop to a yummy tap house and fine dining at Tommy Bahamas and even a grocery store, all accessible by golf cart or car.
There is a private beach club close by that has cabanas and lounge chairs for use with plenty of shade. The snorkeling is excellent with many varieties of sea life to enjoy. The beach is a protected bay and great for young and old alike to enjoy a swim. There is a restaurant there for snacks and drinks to refresh your self. This is our 5th time to the Big Island and this is the best beach we have found as it has everything you could want at a beach.
Last but not least, the hosts were the best at communicating with us from before the trip began, through the trip all the way to the last day. They made great food recommendations and ideas of things to do in area. They were unobtrusive but available at any time if there was a question.

My family and I? in total 9 people, have stayed in this wonderful place. The house was very spacious and every home appliance was quite new. And it is located inside (or near??) of a resort so that some restaurants were easily accessbile. We were so happy here and if we have any chance in future, we really wanto to stay here one more time. By the way, Burt was friendly and responsive. Oh my god, there is one more thing. The private beach in the resort was awesome!!

The KaMilo home was a fabulous place for our week-long visit to the Island of Hawai'i. Everyone had their own space along with plenty of communal areas. The fitness center and pool are such a great place for a workout or relaxing and maybe only 100 yards from the front door. The home was so-well stocked with kitchen equipment (Keurig, drip coffee, toaster, vitamix blender, cooktop, stove, all kinds of knives and cutlery!). The private beach club was just a short drive / bike / golf cart trip away and made for an easy jaunt to the sandy shores. The cove is protected, so swimming/snorkeling were easy to do (there's a paddleboard at the house if you're willing to try it!). Any questions we had were readily answered by Burt withing moments (via text... I'm sure if we had to call, the response would have been just as prompt). A great location for certain. Easy access to Waimea, Hilo, Volcano National Park (2 hours) and all the beaches on the North/West coast of Hawai'i!

An adult family trip long overdue and we were not disappointed. The unit is within a beautiful resort and was easy to find and exceeded expectations. Spacious kitchen living area, master bedroom and balcony overlooking the golf course on the entry floor with three bedrooms on lower level. Snorkeling gear, paddle boards and a variety of other recreational equipment was available to use including a 4 seat golf cart. Had access to all the beaches, pools etc within the resort. Burt the property manager provided all information needed without being obtrusive. Would not hesitate to recommend.

For once the images on the web site were an accurate reflection of the property. Everything was as expected with no nasty surprises. It would have been a nice touch to actually meet the host but that was okay we settled in without any fuss.
Our only negative was the activity pool water seemed a little murky and could have been cleaner.
We’re looking forward to returning again sometime soon.

Our first stay at this property [10 days] although we stay at Mauna Lani resort area each time we visit the Big Island so there was a degree of concern whether the pictures and description would be hype or reality. No question, the unit was exceptionally clean, well-stocked, spacious for a three generation family and convenient to the beaches, grocery store and golf courses. The kitchen had every appliance available ranging from 3 different coffee makers to a huge food processor and even a 1/4 teaspoon utensil for those precision-minded scientists disguised as cooks. The manager Burt Bonk was also superb, leaving a nice bundle of groceries, taking my grand kids fishing and generally answering all questions my wife had. The place was spacious enough with 4 bedrooms, four patios/balconies and great outdoor dining [Kona Sunset] that an old grandpa had enough space to work on manuscripts without noise from the grand kids. The golf cart to go putzing around was a plus, two bikes and ocean gear would satisfy just about every need.
There are basically four areas between Kailua and Kawaihai, with
the Mauna Kea/Hapuna Resorts being furthest away from the airport, but nearest to Kamuela, followed by Mauna Lani, Waikoloa and Hualalai. Each location has its advantages and disadvantages but we like the Mauna Lani area because it is just right......a compromise of convenience, sufficient privacy being in the "middle" where trips to the Volcano, Hilo, Kamuela and Honokaa as well as Kona are not prohibitive.
A few precautions: the driveway is short so if you have two cars, you will need to park elsewhere and the beach requires driving or
taking the golf cart or bike. Brown's Beach House is at the Fairmont and Teshima's in Kona is worth the drive.

This is one of the best short-stay rent I have ever rented. The house is super clean with all appliances and utensils we would need. The neighborhood is great with all kinds of facilities, even with a private beach. Burt is our host, he is so responsive and kind. Great communication. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Hawaii to stay here.

Can’t say enough good things about Ka Milo as a place and this unit in particular. Very spacious for families with 4 large bedrooms. 70” 8K TV in the living room. Spotless. Well stocked kitchen with every appliance. Burt was great and very attentive when we texted. Quiet, next to the golf course and private. And with their golf cart you can drive around to the nearby Fairmont Orchid (and even valet it there while you visit!) and local shops and restaurants. This unit is very close to the excellent pool. We have stayed in Ka Milo a number of times, and always enjoy it. Highly recommended.

Property is as advertised. Clean and well kept. Very comfortable for four guys who each wanted their own rooms. Having the golf cart is a nice extra.
The kitchen has everything you need in the way of appliances and utensils. Would have been nice to have a few condiments stocked (salt, pepper, olive oil, etc.)
Burt was easy to reach and got right back to us with questions.
Pool and hot tub are close by and very nice. Overall great stay and I would not hesitate to book here again.
