About this house rental

Summary:
Enjoy the beauty of the Berkshires in our tranquil retreat! The home, with rustic charm and modern touches, features artwork and furnishings from local Berkshires artists. An expansive, secluded yard located within protected forestland provides the ideal combination of privacy & natural outdoor space. Large enough for your entire family, your home away from home has dedicated spaces for everyone: game room, play area, office, home gym, screened porch, backyard seating, and more!

The Space:
Upon entering the home, the first floor living room welcomes you to a stylish seating area, classic board games, and picture windows that highlight the scenic views of the surrounding outdoor space. The family room, also on the first floor, contains a large sectional sofa that seats seven, a Smart TV (on which you can log into your streaming apps, such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc.), vintage DVD player with some classic movies and a children’s play space.

The living room adjoins a well-stocked, open kitchen with an electric stove and all the necessary cooking and serving items, including cookware, pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and other paraphernalia. Bar seating for two, open shelving, and a window overlooking the lush backyard make dinner prep an enjoyable experience. Coffee lovers will enjoy the drip coffee pot, while those who prefer tea will appreciate the variety of teas provided for guests. Newly installed dishwasher makes cleanup a breeze. The contiguous dining room has seating for up to eight guests, along with an eye-catching Sputnik chandelier, so you can enjoy those home-cooked meals in comfort and style.

Continue your tour of the common spaces by stepping onto the gorgeous, open steel staircase which anchors the interior. On cold days, entertain yourself downstairs, in the game room, which boasts a shuffleboard table, a retro Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, and comfy seating for those enjoying from the sidelines. The basement also has a small home gym with light weights, a bench, yoga mats, and exercise balls. On the second floor, at the upstairs landing, there is a small office with a desk for those who work remotely, along with lightning-fast fiberoptic Wi-Fi, and many books for those who prefer to stay unplugged.

There are five bedrooms, all with brand new solid hardwood floors, and three full bathrooms to accommodate guests during your stay. The first floor features four bedrooms and two bathrooms; each bedroom has a queen bed, and each bathroom contains a tub/shower combo and is shared between two bedrooms. The second level of the house has a full bath all with bathing essentials, such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, all in eco-friendly dispensers, are available for the duration of your stay.

We're excited to announce the addition of a queen memory foam sofa bed in the basement, providing extra comfort and accommodation options for our guests.

Breathe in the fresh mountain air on the screened porch, which has comfortable seating for four and picturesque views. Or, take a step outside to enjoy some of the provided outdoor games (cornhole, bocce), gas grill, and wood burning chiminea. There is also a spacious outdoor dining table and four beautiful Adirondack chairs to complement a Solo Stove fire pit.

Other things to get excited about:
-New solid hardwood flooring in all first floor rooms except larger family room and lower level/gym.
-The house has 8 mini-splits throughout to keep the house cool during the summer and warm during the winter.
-Six steps to the front door. The majority of the house is on the first level so the house may be a good choice for those with limited mobility.
-Washer & dryer available for your use.
-Parking on the driveway for up to seven cars.
-A gas grill stocked with propane is ready for your use. Outdoor games, a Solo Stove fire pit, and additional propane are also available in the small shed.

I would write a lengthier review, but I'm only allowed to use 1500 characters. For those of you considering renting this home, be aware of several issues. The tiles in the doorway leading to the TV room are loose and some of them are raised, making them a hazard for young kids running around. When we arrived, there was a load of mildewed towels in the washer, a fake fingernail was found on the ground in the game room, and remnants of food were caked on "clean" dishes. Some of the pots had grease/slime on the bottom. We had to buy our own clothing detergent because there was only enough for one load. Most notably, the kitchen oven, which was about 26 years old, barely worked on night one, and stopped working entirely by day three. We had planned to cook all our meals, so we brought a ton of food. Without a working oven, much of the food went to waste, and we were forced to spend money at restaurants for our meals (for nine people). I contacted the host, Lucas, and asked for a partial refund (he did not offer one, even after I explained all of the issues). In the weeks that followed, I had to hound him, repeatedly asking for a decision about a refund. He finally (today) agreed to refund $100. That doesn't even cover the cost of one meal for 9 people. It's insulting. If you choose to stay at this house, with this host, you have been fairly warned. I would look elsewhere if I was you.

Spacious house with excellent bedroom layout including master bedroom suite on separate level. Master bedroom bathroom shower was finicky. Shower pressure kept fluctuating and when it dropped too low it shut off. Had to repeatedly turn it back on to continue shower.

Each year our family takes a 1-week family vacation. This year we chose the Berkshires, and we were not disappointed. The home was beautiful and perfect for our family. The kids had a great time in the game room area, and the adults really enjoyed the 3-season screened in porch. There were plenty of activities in the area to keep us busy, and the home allowed us all to relax. The owners were just a text or e-mail away for the couple of times I had to contact them. All and all, it was a perfect getaway home. We are so thankful for the experience!

This is a gorgeous getaway in the woods, and fulfilled all our expectations. The beds were comfortable, and the main rooms were lovely and full of light. We loved the gym in the basement and the game room, and spent our days on the screened-in porch writing and enjoying each other's company. The drive to nearby towns for ice cream and drinks was beautiful. Heartily recommend this awesome spot.
