The property owner was very nice, but the time I communicated took entirely too long to reply. I didn’t complain during my stay about the issues I just dealt with them or, didn’t deal with them.
It was so uncomfortable simply because of the cleanliness. We stayed out of the kitchen for the most part because the dishwasher smelled so awful. The worst part is I visited because my son who attends the University had an emergency surgery one week after getting to school and I had to book quickly and be close to school. So I planned on cooking but I didn’t feel comfortable doing so. I used a few plates, which I had washed prior to using and only for under the take out food purchased. Here’s my list of not so great and a couple good things.
- Toilet seat in master bathroom smacks back, broken seat, so only used front toilet
- Dishwasher smells awful makes entire living area smell when opened to place very little dishes used
- Lizards all in laundry room
- Shower curtain in front bathroom came crashing down on my son upon just opening it, put it back up and the rubber is missing on end closest to door so it’s not stable (has been missing for some time because there’s rust under it)
- Towels have holes in them
- Dead lizard under kitchen sink
- Roaches in main living area
- No hangers
- Filthy house entrance, trash
- Filthy flooring thru out home
- Comfortable beds
- Big TV
I sent the owner the issues at end of stay. Great location will never return!

Although this VRBO's location is great, the property had problems. We arrived at night at it wasn't well lit-we had difficulty finding it. Also:
There was trash by the entrance and in the porch planter.
The washing machine was full of wet towels and the dryer was full of dry towels upon arrival. We had to finish someone else’s laundry in order to do our own.
The floors were not clean. We walked in our bare feet and the bottoms turned black.
The back patio wasn’t swept, cushions were messed up, and the table was dirty. We had to clean the table to use it and found the end of a joint on table.
The garbage disposal wasn’t working and 2 bathroom lightbulbs were out. I called the host, who replaced the bulbs that day. The disposal wasn’t fixed.
We called the host a second time because the tv remote only had one battery. He told me where to find new ones. The remote still didn’t work after I replaced the batteries. There were no instructions for the TV, either. The master bathroom outlet was also broken. He couldn’t resolve those two issues because he had “no one to send over.”
I was unhappy about the TV and let him know that-it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The host was not pleasant after that and didn’t offer any kind of restitution for all the issues after I asked. He said he’d “think about it.” I contacted him after we got home and he asked me what I wanted him to do to make up for it. I’m still waiting for an answer and don’t expect one.

The only problem was the lack of enough bath towels for 6 guests. The issue was resolved quickly.

I stayed here with some girlfriends and it was a great home base for us while exploring Austin. The location was the best part, being within 15 minutes of everything we wanted to do. The house was clean and comfortable. Would stay again if I go back to Austin.
