About this house rental

Welcome to Main Street House - combining history, luxury and location for the perfect Cape Cod vacation home.

Main Street House is one of the earliest homes built in idyllic Osterville and is located steps from the village center. Stroll to some of Cape Cod’s best restaurants and shops, bike to spectacular Dowses Beach, or just spend the day in the hammock overlooking ½ acre of private lawn and perennial gardens.

Three bedrooms sleep 6 – two queen beds and two twins. One full bath plus an oversized outdoor shower. Large patio with outdoor living, dining areas, and barbecue.
Main Street House is a classic gambrel-style home built in 1905. Carefully restored in 2022, the home offers all the modern conveniences - central air conditioning and chef’s kitchen – while preserving the historical charm of this wonderful 120-year old home. With painted hardwood floors and original claw foot bathtub, it doesn’t get more authentic Cape Cod than this.

New high finishes include Waterworks fixtures, Shaw farmhouse sink, Bosch dishwasher and refrigerator, and Ilve professional stove. The house is equipped with luxury hotel mattresses, fine European bedding, high quality bath and beach towels and spa bath products.

Rental comes with a beach pass for access and free parking to all public beaches in Barnstable, including Dowses just ½ mile away.

About the area: Osterville is a picturesque Cape Cod village peacefully located on Nantucket Sound, on the south side of Barnstable. The quaint village center boasts dozens of shops, restaurants and small businesses, and is a lovely place to spend an afternoon stroll. Grab lunch at Wimpy's for classic seafood, Crisp Flatbread for tasty pizza and pasta, or The Chart Room for a cocktail with a view. Surrounding the downtown are charming residential neighborhoods with tree-lined streets and stunning, classic Cape architecture to observe. You can find a body of water almost anywhere you turn in Osterville. Dowses Beach is the beloved beach on East Bay Road, where families enjoy sunny days on the Nantucket Sound side, or a more tranquil scene on the East Bay side. Boating is a fan-favorite pastime in Osterville, and the village has the marinas and bays to support it. If you have never been to Osterville, you are sure to fall in love with its timeless charm.

The cottage in Osterville is so charming. Beds are super comfortable and home is well appointed. We had everything we needed. It is decorated beautifully- the antique pieces balanced with modern decor. The back patio and yard are wonderful with pristine landscaping and colorful window boxes.Location is perfect and we loved how convenient it was to the town. The only drawback for us was the indoor shower which proved to be far too short for adults and was dangerously slippery. The outside shower is great however so we were able to use that instead. For cold weather stays this could be a chilly option! Overall the house is great and we would recommend to anyone wanting a charming and conveniently located rental.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautifully decorated (I’m an interior designer), pristine and thoughtfully equipped. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the living room has just enough seating, and the kitchen has everything you need. The location is perfect, walking distance to down town Osterville (Wimpy’s and Crisp), but far enough away to be quiet. Our host was responsive and friendly, as well. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a perfect long fall weekend!!

Nice house, great location. Beautiful grounds, patio. Not a great bathroom situation, no microwave, agent impossible to communicate with.

The house is pretty and well appointed, situated in manicured gardens with a hammock and ample outdoor living areas. The highlight of the house is the outdoor shower. Few experiences beat showering under the stars. Just round the corner - walking distance - are Joshua and Micah Ponds: unspoiled freshwater lakes for swimming, fishing and walking. The beaches nearby are beautiful and the beach pass really came in handy. Thank you for a memorable stay.
