About this cottage rental
Set alongside a village church, Rose Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed Cotswold stone property overlooking the surrounding commons and hills. Footpaths lead from your doorstep to spectacular viewpoints, and you are within walking distance of the village pub.
Sitting above the main road your first impression of Rose Cottage will not disappoint as you walk through the wooden garden gate to the front door. Decorated throughout in muted tones of calming green, the centrepiece of the living area is the wood-burning stove in a carved stone surround. This cosy area with its luxuriously soft sofa is made for putting your feet up and enjoying the views through the original leadwork windows. At the other end of this space is a dining table seating six beside a feature stone hearth. Small touches including retro-style radios in each room, beautiful curtains, soft furnishings, and Cotswold artwork bring this area together. In the well-equipped kitchen, you will find Emma Bridgewater and Denby Pottery crockery, making this cottage a little bit more special.
Set over three floors, the steep cottage stairs lead up to the king-size double and family bathroom on the first floor. With cushioned window seats this floor offers fabulous views to the South East. Continuing up the stairs are two more bedrooms, a twin and a double which look across to the church and its graveyard. Each room has its own characterful décor, one of which takes inspiration from the local Gifford Circus.
To the side of the cottage is a small lawned area separated from the gravelled front pathway by trelliswork. Flower beds and mini-manicured hedges add to the charming appeal of Rose Cottage.
*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.

Exceeded our expectations. Rose Cottage was just a home away from home. Loved the added touches like the old style radios and the Denby pottery. Everything was pristine. The beds were so comfy and the kitchen had everything you could wish for. Even had baby bowls, beakers and cutlery plus the boxes of lego went down a treat. We loved coming home every evening. Thank you to Ruth for the welcome basket and milk in the fridge...that was just the icing on the cake. Had a wonderful 7 Days and would give 10 stars if possible. Thank you all again .

This is without doubt one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. Plenty of room for 6 adults and our dog. Particularly impressed with how well equipped it was. Great pub, The Prince Albert, just up road and Stroud is just a 20 minute walk away and well worth a visit. Rose Cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and furnished. Not a single thing to criticise and I am sure we will be back one day.

Thankyou for making the cottage just perfect for our stay.We used it as a base for 2 days while at family wedding nearby.
One special outdoor breakfast and a walk .
All instructions were straightforward.Everyone very relaxed and pleased we had chosen this cottage Thankyou.

We stayed for a couple of nights over the Easter holidays with two children (12&11) and had a wonderful time. The cottage is very pretty with a lovely little outside space. If the weather was a little warmer it would have been the perfect spot for a BBQ (provided) with a stunning view over the valley. The church sits just behind the cottage which makes for a a stunning backdrop.
Inside the cottage is very clean and freshly decorated. The kitchen is extremely well equipped (even has a cake stand!!) which made things so much easier.
There is a lovely wood burning stove which would have been a treat to enjoy on colder days.
The common is very close and offers a great place to walk with beautiful views. We did a bit of kayaking while we stayed which was great fun.
All in all a wonderful trip :)

Set in the quaint area of Rodborough, this is the most idyllic cottage. From the moment you step inside the front door you can feel the warmth of love and attention that has gone into making this the most comfortable stay you could wish for. Rose cottage is finished to the highest standard. All modern fixtures and fittings that are in-keeping with the look and period of the place. The cleanliness is exceptional. I had the most peaceful sleep in the most comfortable bed. What was an added bonus was waking up to the sound of wildlife. I would recommend staying here and I would return in a heartbeat, given the chance I would move in. :) Thank you Rose cottage for an amazing stay.

A lovely cottage well located between Stroud and Rodborough Common. Would certainly recommend it for a Cotswold break with lovely views.

Lovely cottage but as a group of five adults we found the lounge area too small for us. Four adults would be maximum. The postcode was wrong on the directions, so we were taken to the wrong place before we realised which was annoying. I did email to report this but did not receive a reply. I also emailed the housekeeping email we were given but this was incorrect and bounced.
We were very disappointed with the state of the utensils in the kitchen. There was a baking tray in the oven which was swimming with oil. We had to wash all the crockery and cutlery before we used them, they all had a greasy film on it. All the utensils really need a good clean. Again I did email bolthole retreats about this when we arrived but have not received a reply. As we were charged £100 cleaning fee we would not expect to have to wash the dishes before we could eat. Also, the info sent said there would be enough wood for the first fire, two logs and a bit were left. This seemed a bit mean as they didn’t last very long. We enjoyed elaborating new year with family but we were disappointed with the cottage and with communication.
