Are you coming to Sarasota on vacation or perhaps considering moving here? If yes, then the Carriage House is the perfect place to use as a base camp while you explore the area and experience the best that Sarasota has to offer. Stay 7 nights or more!
The Carriage House is right in the heart of everything. Very safe and easy walk to literally dozens of casual restaurants, cool bars and interesting shops. 5 minute walk to Selby Gardens. 10 minute walk and you are at the Sarasota Bayfront. That's a great place to enjoy the sunset. The hustle and bustle of main street is just half a mile away. They have an awesome farmer's market every Saturday morning year round. If you prefer the beach, drive 10 minutes South to Siesta Key, home of #1 beach in the USA. You are less than 4 miles from St. Armands Circle and Lido Key. It's always sunny in Sarasota and you will never run out of things to do. We provide tons of amenities including bikes, kayaks, beach chairs and a beach umbrella.
This place is so much better than a hotel room. You will have your own private guest house with nobody above or below. Main bed is a King sized luxury memory foam mattress from Tuft and Needle. Sofa pulls out to a surprisingly comfortable twin size memory foam bed. We are neat freaks. The Carriage House will be immaculately clean. Free clothes washer and dryer. Tons of amenities including; snacks, cold beverages, coffee pods, toiletries and laundry detergent. Lightning fast wifi, bikes, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrella and more available for your use and enjoyment.
Here are my top ten recommendations on things to do:
1. Start your day at Fresh Start Cafe (.2 miles, 4 min walk). The food is outstanding.
2. Walk to Selby Gardens (.4 miles, 8 min walk). World Class botanical gardens.
3. Main Street (.5 miles, 11 min walk) is packed with boutiques and restaurants.
4. Hop an Uber or drive to the Ringling museum (4.6 miles)
5. For amazing seafood, eclectic decor and live entertainment, try Owen's Fish Camp. It is .3 miles away, only a 6 minute walk.
6. Burn's Court Cinema is right next door to Owens. Not your run of the mill cineplex. It is a small theater offering first-run foreign, independent & art films along with beer, wine & popcorn.
7. St. Armand's Circle shopping and entertainment district is 3.4 miles away. Great people watching, coffee shops and boutiques.
8. Want to go to the beach? Lido Beach is consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the US. It is 4.1 miles away, about a 12 minute drive.
9. Want an up close experience with the creatures of the sea? Try Mote Marine Laboratory, it is 4.7 miles from your front door. This aquarium has: Sharks, lionfish, jellyfish, etc. You can pet stingrays, horseshoe crabs, sea cucumbers, starfish, and urchins. There's also a giant squid preserved in a tank.
10. Bayfront Park is .6 miles away, about a 13 minute walk. It has the bay on one side and downtown Sarasota on the other side. Wait for the sunset in the evenings and you will never be bored, because the pelicans entertain you. Good spot to see wild dolphins. Try O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill. Sunset ferry available too!

My husband and I enjoyed the cozy cottage house for 6 nights; it had the perfect amount of space for the two of us and was well stocked. The location is near many restaurants and downtown Sarasota -- many within walking distance. Stephanie, the owner, was quick communicating and very gracious (always asked if we needed anything more) - thank you! We used the beach bag, cooler, beach towels, beach chairs & umbrella that were available in the house (great since we traveled from out of the state). You cannot be the feasibility, convenience and location this cottage house had to offer!

Our first time staying in Sarasota and we wanted to stay in a location that was walking distance to downtown. The place where we stayed was all around perfect. Had everything we needed. So comfortable and clean. The owner, Stephanie was lovely, if we needed anything she responded straight away. We’ve stayed at other VRBO and this place is ranked at the top.

We stayed at this beautiful downtown studio during a quick weekend trip down the coast. While it was short, it was nothing less than pleasant. We had a chance to chat with Stephanie in passing and she was very helpful with a small problem we had. The furnishings were very nice and the bed was big enough for a couple. This is an upstairs unit so that should be noted, but the stairs are sturdy and safe for use. The studio is close to downtown and plenty to do. The book in the room is nice for sharing places to go and things to see. I would recommend Stephanie's place to others looking for a comfortable, quiet place to enjoy while in town.

It was a beautiful, private space. The location close to so much. The owner communication was great-very comprehensive and always very timely. I loved that the room included a book with lots of information and suggestions. The Amenities were amazing - bicycles with locks, kayaks with a cart and instructions, cold drinks, washer/dryer, etc.
My only frustration was that the listing did not mention more clearly that it was on the second floor.

The Carriage House was impressively clean and orderly, and centrally located near so many Sarasota sites. It's walking distance to the farmers market, SelbyBotanic Garden, the Main Street with many restaurants and shops, as well as near the waterfront and general downtwon area. It has a wonderful host who provided very helpful information and was quick to respond to questions. Highly recommended.

I wish I could have stayed longer. The carriage house is private, super clean and is appointed with everything you could need. Very comfortable. A 10 minute walk to main street. The owner is next door and made herself available for any questions or needs that I might have. She is wonderful. You will not be disappointed. It is important to note that there are stairs to get to the room, if that is a problem for you.

Our stay was planned rather quickly and so we were so pleased upon arriving at the Carriage House. The host met us on arrival, offered to help with luggage and reminded us of use of her phone contact should there be any need. The size of the unit and amenities perfectly met our needs. The location was perfect for us, and the ability to come back to such a quiet and comfortable suite was a great treat. Would definitely choose this site again .... and probably stay even longer! So much to see and do!

Nothing is stated that it is above a garage with many stairs, so just be aware with your packing weight.
The "About this rental" is very inaccurate and quite misleading. It's states 1 bedroom and in reality this is a studio w/ kitchen cubby use only. There is no separate room for the bed, it's studio. The "2 Beds" is the couch which would have to be moved against the bed in order to fit. I was going to have a friend stay with me but upon arrival I quickly realized it would have been inappropriate and incredibly awkward. The microwave would not function and gave F4 error every time you attempted to use it. No kettle and "Stove", uh no. Please don't expect most people to understand that a "Waring Pro Series" is not an actual stove top, but a portable burner, which makes cooking an actual meal about impossible in this space.

From small details like coffee machine, snacks, drinks to out of the way perks; bicycles, kyaks, etc. The guest book alone (about 3” thick) will send the message that you are staying in good hands with super hosts! We spent two weeks at Stephanie’s carriage house and thoroughly enjoyed it. She was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay. The location was wonderful as it is close to so many great shops and restaurants. The little patio out front was great for relaxing later in the day. The WiFi worked great the entire time so we could work remote during our stay. They had kayaks and bikes that we could use but unfortunately did not get around to using. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful visit. Managers, Stephanie and Mike live on site and were friendly and informative. Location was great. Walking distance to downtown restaurants, shops and waterfront. Accommodations were pleasant. Only negative is the long flight of stairs you have to climb to enter. My wife and I would definitely come back.
