About this cabin rental

Are you looking for a romantic get-away? We've got it. You looking for a quiet, secluded place in nature to escape from the urban bustle? We've got it. You looking for a place located near outdoor activities and walking distance from a micro brewery? We've got it. You looking for a one-of-a-kind lodging experience that will make your friends envious when you post about it on social media? (Sigh). We've got that too.

Echo Hill Farm is out-of-the-way on a rural country road nestled within thick trees and a few scattered fields. It's quiet, and secluded - but we think that's part of it's unique charm. There's a local brewery walking distance away and is a few miles from two beautiful lakes.
We are 9 miles/18 minutes from the Deerfield fairgrounds.

We are 2 miles off of the main road (Route 4) that connects you to Concord in 20 minutes or Portsmouth in 60 minutes. Still, in our rural setting there isn't any direct public transportation and ride-sharing/hailing apps are not very effective. Best if you provide your own transportation during your stay with us.

***UPDATE: Our outdoor shower and indoor water system ARE OPEN NOW through the end of October or when temperatures are consistently below freezing***

We offer our guests a unique lodging experience tucked into the corner of a five-acre farm in rural New Hampshire.

A traditional yurt is a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by several distinct nomadic groups in the steppes of Central Asia. They have been a distinctive feature of life in Central Asia for at least three thousand years. Our yurt has its origin a little closer to home.

Our 17-foot diameter yurt was designed and hand-built by a craftsman and his family on a homestead in southwestern NH in 2021. The yurt is lined with insulation on the walls, roof and floor, covered in durable vinyl sheathing and capped with a beautiful clear plexiglass dome, ornately decorated with copper features. The yurt rests upon a pine tongue-and groove floor, elevated approximately 24 inches above the ground. The bulk of the yurt construction (rafters and cross-hatch walls) has been done with saplings sourced from the New Hampshire woods. The yurt is also outfitted with a wood-framed glass door and two screened windows with clear vinyl coverings that can be rolled up or closed with industrial Velcro.

The yurt has approximately 227 sq feet of floor space. Within that space we have tried to offer a medley of necessary comforts and amenities that would accommodate an occupancy of two guests. The listing photos do a pretty good job of showing what you can expect.

Though not comprehensive, here's a short list of included amenities with your stay:
-queen bed, with sheets, bedding and pillows
-chest for storage
-top-loading wood stove with wood, kindling, matches, and fire tools
-dining table and accompanying set of chairs
-coffee table and accompanying set of low-rise chairs
-two end tables with lamps
-kitchenette island with butcher block countertop, cabinets and drawers
-4.4 cu ft refrigerator
-2-burner electric cook surface
-combination toaster oven / air-fryer
-fire extinguisher
-smoke / carbon monoxide detector
-running hot and cold water in yurt (May - October or when dates are consistently above freezing)
-Drinking water in countertop igloo coolers (November through April or when dates are consistently below freezing)
-electric water kettle
-glass pour-over coffee maker
-coffee grinder
-outhouse lavatory with Nature's Head composting toilet
-outdoor shower with hot and cold water (May - October or when dates are consistently above freezing)
-towels, wash cloth, soap, shampoo and conditioner
-Wifi Router
-Dishware, silverware, cookware
Guest access
Guests will have access to the yurt area which includes the walkway, outhouse lavatory, outdoor shower (in warmer months between May and October), firewood storage shed, and the yurt itself.

In front of the yurt, there is an outdoor patio, fire pit and chairs available for guests in the summer months.

We provide two parking spaces devoted to yurt guests. These parking spaces are located to the right (when facing the barn from the road), in front of the lamp post at the end of the white fence. Should the lamp post not be lit when you arrive, there is a light switch on the lamp post that turns on the lights for the walking path to the yurt.

*****the walkway to the yurt can be muddy or snowy at times so please bring proper footwear.

PETS: new policy June 2023- we are now allowing well behaved pets!
--> A few things to be aware of : we have multiple animals on our little farm including a barn cat, pigs, chickens with a surrounding electric fence in the field near the yurt, our own dog who is an over friendly border collie. If your dog likes to chase animals, might not be a good fit.
--> MAXIMUM- 1 pet only at at least 1 year old and fully potty trained to go outside. Must pick up all your own waste and provide your own bags.
--> NO pets allowed on furniture
--> Pet stays with you at all times and are not allowed to be left alone in the yurt
Other things to note
Though we have made great efforts to make your stay as comfortable as possible, you must keep in mind that your stay with us still falls within the classification of "glamping" (glamorous camping). We recognize that not everyone is willing to embrace the "camping" aspect of a stay with us so we want to highlight them before you decide to book our yurt:

1. The walkway from the parking area to the yurt is approximately 150 yards long over a grassy field that can be muddy, uneven and in the winter covered with snow or ice. We provided a sled to help transport bags in the winter months. Wear appropriate footwear.
2. The yurt is heated exclusively by a wood stove. You will need to build a fire and maintain it in the wood stove to keep warm in the winter months. We will provide the tools, the wood and the training for those who need it. Just know that if you've been away from the yurt all day, you will need to restart the fire to get the yurt back to a comfortable temperature.
3. Yurt guests exclusively have access to the outhouse lavatory for all bathroom needs. We utilize a composting toilet in the outhouse, and guests must follow the posted instructions related to its use.
4. The outhouse is insulated in the walls and floor, but not heated. It can be cold in the winter.
5. The outdoor shower is only available for guest use during the warm months (approximately May through October, or when outdoor temperatures are consistently above freezing).
6. We have hot and cold running water in the yurt (May - October), but in the winter months potable water may be restricted to countertop coolers of cold water. Guests will need to boil water in the kettle for hot water needs.
7. Guests are welcome to use all items in the kitchenette for cooking and eating, but we ask that they wash and clean all items they use with provided soap and towels before checking out.
8. The yurt is located on a working farm. As a result of this, guests may encounter associated sounds and smells related to raising animals during their stay with us.

My husband and I were looking for an out-of-the-way, quiet spot to reset for the weekend and the yurt checked all the boxes and more! We absolutely loved our stay. Everything about staying here was easy and comfortable. The interior was cozy and laid back with just enough amenities to help us feel at home. We were able to cook all of our meals on the grill and in the kitchen. We picked up fresh veggies from the farmers market on Church St, delicious steak, corn and snacks from the Heritage Corner Market around the corner, and steak tips from the Tuckaway Tavern and Butchery up the road in Raymond (worth the drive!) We walked to the Blasty Bough which had a great atmosphere and met the owner who was very friendly. Kayaking at nearby Lake Pleasant was relaxing and enjoyable. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet,

Our experience was what we wanted and more. A short walk through the field and greeted by a beautifully landscaped plot displaying the yurt. Our oasis for this short stay. Essentially everything one needs is here. Bed, shower, running water, electricity, small kitchen, lounge deck, and fire pit with chairs. No reason to leave except for visiting the surrounding sites that New Hampshire has to offer. The hosts are there to help with anything and make sure your stay is enjoyable. Thanks so much for this experience. We would definitely come back.
