About this house rental

Summary:
We offer our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Cathedral Lodge, as your getaway base on our small family ranch. The vaulted ceiling is prominent and the inside contains modern amenities like Cal-King Tuft & Needle beds, and a Viking 8 burner stove. There is room to “work-from-where you are”, while others enjoy another interior area or sit outside the wrap-around deck. Our property (Horse Feathers Ranch) is ~15 acres with both West Sedona and Cottonwood only ~15 driving minutes away and wineries closer.

The Space:
Whether you have a jam-packed adventure planned or just need to get-away, this Cathedral Lodge provides a base to relax away from it all and enjoy some down time with friends or family on our property. The rustic-looking outside contains modern amenities in a climate-controlled environment. Our 3 bedroom (2BD+Loft) 2 bathroom house has a wilderness cabin exterior with a modern interior, where the front door opens into a Cathedral-like main activity room with picturesque floor-to-ceiling windows to take in nature while relaxing inside.
We are in a rural area, but still have wireless internet service (150/15) available and the house television comes equipped with a Netflix subscription accessed via the Roku service. Prime Video and Pandora access is available via Roku, so you can link into your personal subscription. Weather, PBS and PBS Kids are on the selection menu too. WiFi network access information will be provided in welcome communication prior to check-in.

If you can break away from the Internet’s compelling selection of shows, there is a wrap-around deck with outdoor chairs, where you can sit and listen to nature. With the immediate proximity of the Bubbling Ponds preserve, colorful birds can be found seasonally around the house and the local area has been noted by the Northern Arizona Audubon Society that helps maintain viewing platforms in the nearby sanctuary.

For sleeping arrangements, there are two bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom is on the ground floor with a large dedicated full bathroom equipped with walk-in shower, large tub, toilet, and bidet. Further from the action of the kitchen, dining, and activity areas, there is one other bedroom that faces an irrigation pond with our barn in the distance. The last bedroom is a loft with more of a skyline and overwatch view of our horse barn, pastures, and arena. The loft and other bedroom share access to the second centrally-located bathroom. Cal-King Tuft & Needle mattresses are in each bedroom. Pillows and linens are provided. There are also bed-side plugs and USB-ports for nightly recharge of your devices. Every guest bedroom contains wash, hand, and body towels. Basic CO Bigelow toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion) are provided. Near the bedrooms, there is also a smaller study that more books, some easy puzzles, games to try, and a chalkboard for emerging artists.

To meet "work-from-wherever" needs, two areas contain small desks. The house layout also allows for working in one area, while giving the rest of the group space to enjoy themselves in another area.
If dining in is your interest, the Cathedral Lodge provides a Viking 8 burner range with a full double oven for your indoor chef as well as a propane BBQ for your outdoor grill expert. While not a full kitchen set-up, there are basic pots, pans, oven dishes, bowl, and other secondary appliances like microwave and toaster. Plates, cups, and utensils are stocked to serve ~12 place settings. A dishwasher helps with clean-up. There is a dedicated laundry room with clothes washer/dryer is available as well. This laundry room contains an iron and ironing board for those special occasions.
In the event that you need items for very small guests such as a pack and play crib, high chair, extra towels or throw blankets, these can be made available upon request. Please note that we try to use removable outlet covers on all outlets near floor level.
Outside parking is just outside the front door. Oversized vehicle parking (including RV-sized vehicles or trailers) may be able to be accommodated with advance notice.

When your stay is confirmed, you will receive a welcome packet to help with your planning.
* Check-in starts at 4 pm on the day of arrival.
* Check-out is 10 am.
Late check out and early check-in can be requested. Luggage drop-off may be available if early check-in cannot be accommodated upon request. If you will be arriving after dark, please let us know if we can leave lights on inside to help you more easily spot the house. It gets dark out here!

Guest Access:
The whole house is available. A house map provided in the welcome packet shows the public areas and also designates utility closets to be avoided.

For those guests with limited mobility, the house is mostly a single story, but there is a 2nd story loft and limited stairs are required to access the house. In addition, the transitions between rooms on the same story contain surface changes to be aware of when moving around. Uneven ground is present outside with limited pavement on property.

The Neighborhood:
Horse Feathers Ranch provides you with a base station for adventures beyond the "standard" Sedona experience. As we are centrally located within the Verde Valley, hiking and historic sights (and much more) are all available within a short drive.

We are a:
~5 minute drive to four local wineries and the Page Springs Fish Hatchery
~15 minute drive from the start of the Sedona sights and hikes
~15 minute drive to Old Town Cottonwood and their historic downtown
~30 minute drive from the Village of Oak Creek sights and hikes
~45 minutes to the historic mining town of Jerome
~75 minutes to downtown Flagstaff

If you are uncertain about your exact itinerary, the management of Horse Feathers Ranch can help you plan during your check-in, so that you can make the most of your visit to our area.

Getting Around:
The route to Horse Feathers Ranch involves a drive on Page Springs Road, which is the first Scenic / Historic Road named in Yavapai County, and next to the Page Springs Fish Hatchery.

Please note there is little public transportation and ride share or taxi options are very limited.

Other Things to Note:
What sets the Rental Property apart from other short-term rentals is that it is part of a small, living, breathing ranch. We encourage you to explore and enjoy the ranch grounds. The Cathedral Lodge is part of Horse Feathers Ranch, which comprises of ~15 acres that can be experienced by guests.

We ask that you refrain from entering those areas restricted to ranch staff. Likewise, please note that there may be ranch hands and other staff onsite during the day. Typical ranch working hours are _7:00 am_ to _6 pm_, daily. You are welcome to interact with ranch staff, although please recognize that their chief responsibility is to ensure the safe operation of the ranch (including the health and care of its animals).

Due to our rural location, you may seasonally find javelina, deer, elk, rabbits, coyote, and other animals common to the Verde Valley region of Arizona in the morning and evening hours. Please remember to keep your distance.

The Cathedral Lodge on Horse Feathers Ranch is family owned and the guest experience is managed separately by HFR Sedona. Owner is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur while on Horse Feathers Ranch

Interaction with Guests:
We interact primarily via the reservation channel web site and via email once booked. For more urgent matters, we may text you or call the number listed with your reservation channel. We have no planned interactions on-property unless desired or in an emergency. We are not unfriendly, but we do understand that vacation has its own pace and itinerary!

Please ask if you have any questions about the place or area. We are happy to help, if we can.

The house is huge, a little dated but beautiful!! Loved that the bedrooms were on opposite sides of the house. The wildlife was beautiful, we even saw a small javelina! Perfect location for us!

We had such a great visit to the Ranch! We had no issues with communication or anything at the house. It was perfect for two couples and three kids on a family getaway from Phoenix. We love page springs and cottonwood, so it was a great location to visit our favorite places but also just hang back at the ranch to relax and cook a meal and rest. We will definitely be back!

I cannot say enough amazing things about this home and the property manager, Garrett. The home is so comfortable and clean and the views and wildlife from the front and back patio are absolutely breathtaking. A quick stroll down the drive you find yourself on the Black Hawk Trail enjoying the shade of tall cottonwood trees, the wildlife the game and fish hatcheries attract and the beauty of the Oak Creek greenbelt all around. And the location cannot be beat. Just around the corner are delicious restaurants and wineries or a short 15 minute drive you will find yourself in Cottonwood, Cornville or Sedona. We used the home as a base camp to explore Cottonwood and Jerome and are already planning to return to explore the Oak Creek, the wineries and Sedona. I highly recommend this beautiful home and location.
