About this cabin rental
The Hillside Hideaway at Crystal Lake is a luxurious northern Michigan cabin on top of Eden Hill, just outside of the cute little town of Beulah. The cabin is on a very private, serene, and beautiful lot surrounded by trees. This cabin has an incredible large deck with a seasonal view of Crystal Lake through the trees. The huge private deck also has outdoor dining furniture, a gas grill, a propane fire table, and a lovely private year-round spa / hot tub right on the deck!
NEIGHBORHOOD:
Another great feature of the cabin is Crystal Lake and the cabin's proximity to both it and the nearby public beach on Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake is a beautiful, clear, clean, and deep lake with lovely hills around it. The lake is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. It is very family-friendly and is a popular location for swimming, fishing, and boating.
The cottage is also located just a short drive from downtown Beulah. Beulah is a cute little northern Michigan town located on the east end of Crystal Lake. The town was founded name in 1880 by Reverent Charles E. Bailey and its name is actually Biblical in nature. It has a cute little main street (Benzie Blvd.) which has a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, a post office, and a couple of bars. We would particularly recommend Ursa Major Bistro and L'Chayim Delicatessen in terms of places to eat in downtown Beulah. One of the neat surprises in Beulah is that there is a wonderful interactive children's science museum called COGnition in the downtown area.
Outside of Beulah, the cabin is just a 10-minute drive from Frankfort, Frankfort Public Beach, and Lake Michigan to the west. To the north, the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just a 10-minute drive north from the cabin. For additional dining, shopping, and entertainment options, downtown Traverse City is just a 45-minute drive from the cabin.
GUEST ACCESS:
A portion of the basement is locked off for storage of the property owner's personal item. There is also a detached garage on the property that is not available for guest usage. Apart from this, guests have full access to the entire house and everything on the property.
THE SPACE:
In addition to the outdoor deck, there is also a very nice fire ring / fire pit on the property with Adirondack chairs around it, which works great for having bonfires and s'mores!
Inside this vacation home, the cabin is beautifully decorated with Western wood-themed design and artwork throughout the cabin. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 8 adults comfortably. The cabin has both a large living room downstairs (featuring a beautiful wood fireplace, which is available for guests to use) as well as an upstairs family room that features a large flat screen television. The cottage has both cable television as well as Wi-Fi. The cabin has a complete kitchen with an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, sink, island, and lots of counter space and cabinets. The kitchen is stocked with a good supply of cooking and dining utensils. There is a nice dining area with a dining table and chairs just off of the cottage. The cabin also has a lovely den / reading room at the front of the cabin with an additional television. The cottage also has its own clothes washer and dryer.
The master bedroom (with a queen-size bed) and one of the bathrooms are located on the main floor. The second bedroom (with a king-size bed) and the second full bathroom are located on the second floor. In the large basement, there is a queen-size bed and a twin-on-full bunk bed. The washer and dryer are also in the basement along with a half-bathroom. Note that the half-bathroom in the basement does not have a door to it. It is in a private corner of the basement (not visible from the main living area in the basement) for a bit of privacy. Please also note that the downstairs beds work great for adults or teenagers, but, being in the basement, might be a little scary for young children.
The cabin is also pet-friendly, air-conditioned, and has an open design with a beautiful wood fireplace on the main floor. This is truly an exceptional vacation rental property in a fantastic location!
TRANSIT:
Public transportation is available, but it is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) DRIVEWAY: The cabin is along a long driveway that runs from Eden Hill Road up to the top of Eden Hill. The driveway serves 4 houses on Eden Hill and is quite steep, narrow, and curvy. PLEASE DRIVE VERY SLOWLY ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BE VERY CAREFUL ON THE DRIVEWAY! There are a few other properties that use the same driveway and neighbors may be walking on the driveway (which does not have much shoulder space). To avoid issues, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BEWARE OF NEIGHBORS WALKING ON THE DRIVEWAY! Also, we have the driveway privately plowed, salted, and sanded in the winter, but it occasionally can still be difficult to get up the driveway in the wintertime. As such, we do suggest that guests utilize vehicles with snow tires and/or 4-wheel-drive when coming to the cabin in the winter.
2) LOWER LEVEL: We originally listed this property as a 3-bedroom house, but, as shown in the early reviews, some guests did not feel that the downstairs "bedroom" qualified as a bedroom and rated us quite poor in terms of "Accuracy". Thus, we changed the listing to only being a 2-bedroom property. The "downstairs bedroom" is now listed as a third living room with 3 beds in it.

I posted our review on Google but didn't add these things we noticed. Just an FYI and not a complaint. The stopper/drain in upper stairs bath sink does not work properly. The cold water in downstairs bath faucet leaks.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was clean and spacious. The host was easy to communicate with. The hot tub was clean and a great place to relax at the end of the day.

The house was very clean and the agent was great. Was more than expected! We plan to book it again. The only problem I could find was that one of the toilet paper rolls was on backwards. 🙄

This was a great location for a group of 8 of us. The cabin is clean and comfortable, and the back deck with the fire pit and hot tub are awesome. Very close to town and lots to do in the surrounding area! Highly recommended!

Was awesome, relaxing and cozy. Beautiful log home, location and view. Lots of snow so it was a winter wonderland. The fireplace and hot tub were the best. The property manager was great - always reliable and prompt if we had questions. Looking forward to booking another stay.

This cabin and property are absolutely gorgeous. I loved how we could see the lake from the back deck and the hot tub was wonderful with the chilly weather. The host was very responsive and check in was super easy. The cabin is big enough that my S.O. and I could have brought our family, but not so big that it felt wasteful just the two of us. The bed on the first floor is a bit soft for our preference but not a deal breaker by any means. Absolutely would stay here again.

We came up for a quick weekend trip. The place was great for what we were doing. Centrally located so it was an easy drive to all the places we went. It was very clean, and the description of the property is spot on. Plenty of room for me and my four daughters. The deck and hot tub were also great. Would book again in the future.

Loved the cabin. Loved that it was off the road but not super far from activities. There is a great children museum about 5 minutes away and they are about 20 mins away from aome great hiking trails. Would definitely rent the cabin again!

Loved the location, super clean & cute cabin experience.
Coffee took an hour to brew. Need new coffee maker.
Fire pit would not stay lit.
Wax ring in toilet upstairs needs to be replaced. Base of toilet leaks.
Squeaky Grandma’s beds. Umm, not good.
Maybe a second TV on the first level.
Main level bedroom should have a shower.
Had a great time but you might think about these fixes for future rentals.
Thanks.

The property was great and we had 6 people, It was just as the photo shown and was beautiful, we where there for 4 days, the prices was great for each night we stayed. they had every cooking utensil and cook wear we needed, was super clean and smelled nice, the beds wear clean and nice and soft. the deck was vary well kept and clean same with the out side propane firepit, I would have given this place 5 stars if it was not for the few issue like the grill need to be replace as it is worn out, not all the Hottub jet wear working and per set to go no higher then 104. the upper level shower heads water pressure was to high and will hurt a little and the lower level shower head has vary little pressure. we all also thought that the check out time was a bet early even though you pay for the day Tuesday. but over all would stay at this place again and maybe soon.

The cabin and property were wonderful, exactly what my wife, myself and our dog was looking for. Eric, the property manager, was very responsive in regards to any of our communications with him. The cabin was very clean and the beds were great. We were a little disappointed that the hot tub was not working correctly so we called Eric and a service technician came out to look at the hot tub. He was able make it function but without a replacement part, which had to be ordered, it would most likely malfunction again. Despite the hot tub malfunction it was still a great weekend. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Lovely place and definitely would stay again. I really appreciate when a hot tub at a rental is spotless, and this one definitely was. It’s super close to downtown Beulah and a quick drive over to Frankfort. We also enjoyed sitting in the sun on the deck all afternoon.

We were looking for a place to get away for a few days and relax. We certainly found it! The cabin was beautiful. The view off the deck was stunning. Whether it was soaking in the hot tub or some quiet time in front of the fireplace, we enjoyed our stay immensely.

The cabin is cute and cozy. The part about not making it up the driveway with out 4x4 is 100% true, we had to park a car at the base of the driveway. Hot tub doesn't seem to regularly maintained, but was hot. The upstairs doesn't get heat, we tried looking for a shut off but if it exists it's in one of the locked rooms in the basement. We closed other vents in the house to see if it would push the air upstairs and ultimately gave up.
Other than these things the place was nice, clean, and a good choice for our trip.

Loved staying at Bonnie Beulah! Perfect for a weekend away but wanted to stay longer! The fireplace created a cozy warm atmosphere. The hot tub was nice and relaxing. Very clean cabin. Eric was easy to work with and had great communication. Can’t wait to come back!

We loved it so much, we never wanted to leave. The location, the cabin, the scenery, and the amenities were all perfect! We loved the private hot tub, the stone fireplace (bring dry firewood), and the well-stocked kitchen. We sleep upstairs and the queen bed was very comfortable. Overall, the warm cabin, beautiful snowy scenery and view of Crystal Lake plus time away together in northern Michigan was absolutely Perfect! : )

This home provided the perfect R&R our family was looking for during our Christmas break. Very quiet and peaceful. It allowed us to enjoy hours of games, reading, hot tub and TV/movie watching.
Kitchen was well stocked with cookware options (some new) which we appreciated.
I know it's personal preference but my husband and I found the master bedroom mattress soft and a bit uncomfortable (but that's because we prefer a firm mattress). Also, it would be wonderful to have better lighting on the main floor. It wasn't super great for reading or playing games even during the day but we made it work ( great additions would be a light over the table area and an additional lamp that could be moved for reading )

We stayed here for a week in December - the cabin was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Definitely a nice option for a comfortable get-away. It is only about 15 minutes away from Crystal Mountain ski resort and within similar distance to many beautiful hikes along lake Michigan. The description is very accurate and we felt well taken care of with an attentive property manager.

Wow....VERY clean and well supplied. I brought 2 totes of "stuff" that I never opened. LOVED the fireplace,(wood was supplied) hot tub (the temperature was just right), Great place for a doggie. Very convenient, but secluded. The only thing that was a negative is that there was not enough light in front of the fireplace.....by the couch. I like to knit and read in front of the fire, and that was difficult. We will return!!
