About this house rental

Welcome to Rivendell!

Rivendell is a upscale mountain home designed with comfort and convenience for large family groups. The kitchen is huge and has two of most everything. It sleeps 22 people and has 6 newly renovated full baths and 2 half baths. It's an ideal location for skiers (on the slopes) and hikers and close to many popular attractions like Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Beech Mountain Skiing and Tubing, the Grandfather Trout Farm and much more. In summer, you can hike right out your back door to huge 20+ mile views nearby. In winter, you can walk right out onto the slopes or watch the action from large windows on the main floor.

Rivendell is a perfect base for summer adventures like hiking, biking and enjoying the fall foliage. Its proximity to the town center allows for a leisurely walk through the woods to Fred's General Store or local restaurants, adding to its unique charm. There is lots of hiking with breath-taking 3 state, 100 mile views right out your back door. You can hike from Rivendell to the top of Beech Mountain in about 20 minutes. Nearby Buckeye recreation center has tennis, basketball, a gym and a lake with fishing and canoe and kayak rentals. Homeowner note: "We just stayed there for the first time in the summer and we saw about 25 deer each day on the slopes. And while hiking to the top of the mountain to see the beautiful views, we were relaxing on the outdoor view decks up there and saw a bear go by." So, there is lots to see and do year-round at Rivendell.

Regardless of the season, this home offers a gateway to many mountain activities. The seven-bedroom home provides easy access to skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snow tubing. The summer season brings the thrill of National Championship mountain bike trails, catering to every skill level. Just a fifteen (15) minute drive away, the Buckeye Recreation Center offers fantastic hiking, a large playground, fishing, canoeing, and paddle boating. The dining options on Beech Mountain, including local favorites like the Mile High Tavern, Brick Oven Pizzeria, and Alpen Restaurant, add a delicious touch to your adventure. Banner Elk, with its local restaurants, shopping, groceries, and gas stations, is just a few miles down the mountain.

The main level features a great room with a picturesque view of the slopes. It boasts leather furniture around the wood-burning stone fireplace and a big screen-mounted TV. The spacious kitchen, perfect for hosting large groups, has two sinks, two ranges, two refrigerators/freezers, an ice maker, and more. The dining table for 14, plus a smaller table for 4, plus kitchen island seating for 4, ensures all twenty-two guests can dine together in the same space. The spacious deck with a gas grill also overlooks the slopes, providing a perfect setting for group gatherings.

The lower-level family room allows guests to spread out and provides kids with a fun play area. Leather furniture is arranged around the gas log fireplace and big-screen TV, creating a cozy atmosphere. A foosball table and a drink station with a mini fridge and sink add to the family-friendly features of the property, ensuring everyone has a great time.

There are two main-floor master bedrooms with king beds and ensuite bathrooms. The upper level has a king bedroom with an ensuite bath and king and queen bedrooms with a hallway bathroom. Downstairs are two bunk rooms, each with three twin-over-twin bunks providing sleeping spots for 12. Each bunk room has an ensuite bathroom and in-room sink with a mirror, so kids have plenty of handwashing and teeth brushing space.

Rivendell has been perfectly designed and equipped for your gathering with family and friends!

Overall the house was great! Plenty of space for 12 people, ages ranging from 1 to 70. Only areas to critique were the dimmer switches in the kitchen & master bedroom (largest one on main floor) were flickering & we could not get it to stop so we unscrewed bulbs. The master bedroom (largest one on main floor) had a damp/musty smell.
