The Area:
Downtown Kalispell:
Downtown Kalispell is only 1.5 miles away from the house. Founded by Charles E. Conrad back in the late 1800’s; this historic downtown has much to offer, including many shops and great places to dine.
Woodland Park & Woodland Water Park:
Only 3 miles from the house is Woodland Park. This is a perfect place for the family. This park offers a playground, skatepark, walking paths, and ponds filled with waterfowl. Here you and your family can also visit the Woodland Water Park. This water park contains two 3-story waterslides, a lazy river, and a zero-depth entry perfect for younger children.
Foy Lake and Lone Pine State Park:
Only 5 miles away is Foy Lake and Lone Pine State Park. This lake is just minutes away from Kalispell and stocked with rainbow trout. It allows fishing, swimming, and boating. Lone Pine State Park has 7.5 miles of trails you can hike, snowshoe, bike, and/or ride horseback on.
Herron Park:
Also, only 5 miles away is Flathead Valley’s only public horse park, Herron Park. Not only can you attend horse shows and events, but this park also offers hiking, biking, running, and dog walking trails. During the winter, this park also offers cross-country skiing.
Flathead Lake:
Only 9 miles away is the closest lake access point for the famous Flathead Lake. This access point contains a boat launch. Flathead Lake covers 197 square miles. It is 30 miles long and 16 miles wide. This massive lake allows fishing, boating, and swimming. Here you can fish for a variety of trout species including rainbow, brown, and lake trout. You may also find the rarer threaten cutthroat or endangered bull trout. Other species commonly caught are yellow perch and lake whitefish.
Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster:
Just 13 miles away is Montana’s first and only roller coaster! This newly opened “theme park” is open all year around.
Smith Lake:
Only 28 miles away is the small, but plentiful “wetland” Smith Lake. This lake is surrounded by a large wetland and is part of a Montana state wildlife refuge. It is one of the best lakes to catch Northern Pike! If you use steal leads and the right bait, you are almost guaranteed to catch pike and/or perch. This day use fishing access is open year around and does have a boat ramp.
Glacier National Park:
Glacier is only 35 miles away. This is a must see! One of the most beautiful National Parks out there with numerous hiking trails, lakes, waterfalls, and everything wild Montana has to offer. I would recommend reserving your tickets into the park in advance. The last couple years, the park had to limit the amount of people entering the park.
Wildlife:
There are an abundant of different species of wildlife that you can find in the area. The species that you are most likely to see include white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, numerous bird and raptor species, and an occasional red fox. On other extremely rare occasions you may spot elk, moose, black bear, grizzly bear, coyote, or mountain lion. There are many other species that I did not mention that do occur in the area. So always keep your eyes open. You never know if one of these beautiful creatures will bless you with their presence.
Summer Activities:
The activities in the summer here in the area are limitless. This includes, but not limited to, hiking, biking, fishing, camping, wildlife viewing, birdwatching, boating, swimming, and multiple national and state parks.
If you are planning a trip to the famous Glacier National Park, there are many other exciting activities along the way. Everything from ziplines, hot air balloons, helicopter rides, mazes, and much more. I would highly recommend checking out the Montana Vortex, where gravity defies the laws of physics.
Also, being that the house is located in the city of Kalispell, you always could spend the day exploring, shopping, dining, and enjoying all the city has to offer.
Winter Activities:
During winter, enjoy our house to the fullest! Stay inside and enjoy movie nights or playing one of our board games that we provide with your family.

Nearby outdoor winter attractions, such as ski resorts and areas, include Blacktail Mountain Ski Area (14 miles), Whitefish Mountain Resort (27 miles), Glacier Nordic Center (21 miles), and Great Northern Powder Guides (39 miles). Other activities you can find in the area include dog sledging and ice fishing.
During winter, the city keeps the roads maintained, and we shovel and ice the driveway and walkways before your arrival. If needed and upon request during your stay, we will come out and shovel/ice without additional cost.
