Hotel building was used as a shelter during the war just like the Anne Frank house. Anne Frank house itself is literally around the corner. The interior decor was quite nice with the bar area looking particularly relaxing. The reception team were friendly and welcoming. There are lots of little restaurants and cafes nearby. I ate and the Black & Blie which which was good, also friendly staff. It’s about a 20 minute walk for both Dam Square and Amsterdam Centraal. I just walked rather than taxi. It was €42 for an Uber to airport if you wanted to go that way, I chose walking and train. The room itself was quite small, I suspect that is the norm in every hotel in Amsterdam, especially in the older buildings, that was my experience elsewhere too. But it wasn’t really an issue.

From check-in to check-out the whole experience was great. Staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you when asked. The building itself is lovely too and the room I had was super. Enjoyed the jacuzzi bath a lot!
