The property is located in a sketchy area of town. When entering/exiting we often found that there were people hanging around on the sidewalk or just waiting in cars near the building. Thankfully, we had no issues with any of them, but it was a bit concerning. The building itself doesn't have great curb appeal and is clearly quite old. So old that the elevator inside is the type that you have to manually pull the door to open/close it. The floors are old and wooden and very creaky. Once we made it into the apartment though, it was clean and comfortable feeling, so we easily relaxed and settled into it. We could hear music from other units, but it was New Year's Eve, so we just paid it no mind and turned on music of our own. After a couple of hours I received a text message from the property management telling me that they've received several complaints about the volume of the music from our unit and that they would be contacting the authorities to have me removed from the property if I didn't turn it down. Wait...what!?!? This was the first I had even been made aware that the music was a problem, and you're already threatening to have me removed??? I turned the music down immediately after seeing the text, same as I would have done had they just requested that I turn it down (without the threat), but I was so turned off by this lack of tact and immediate escalation of an easily resolvable issue that I would never want to deal with them again.
