Make sure you get the bigger room so you have somewhere to put your clothes. Also no irons. Some of the staff are too hip to smile and don’t rely on the coffee shop to be open in the morning. Having said that, better than most of the standard options in Providence.

I walked in here already angry because I paid for my room in advance, and the week before the price dropped and the hotel wasn’t willing to match the new lower price. After checking in I mentioned to the desk clerk “the website says there is a free cocktail” and then they rolled their eyes and said, “Ughhhhh, fine, I can do that.” Seriously? Then proceeds to tell me, “Well our bar isn’t open tonight.” False advertising. The room was tiny, fine for one person but two would be a nightmare. Ripped up rug and scratched up hardwood floors are supposed to be artsy/cool but look trashy. Creepy painting on the wall. Nightmare vintage elevator. Positives were the Bath products smelled great, room was clean, and the location was great to walk around downtown.

I love a boutique hotel for all its quirks. Love the wooden floor. Similar to my house. Bed was comfy. Blinds in the room made it plenty dark. Shower was a bit too small. Coffee in lobby cafe was good. Honestly, no complaints. Plenty of street parking for my car. Walking distance to everything I needed.

Couple. 2 night stay. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Parking was busy and expensive. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable but could do with more pillows as there was a gap between the bed and headboard. Windows in room are alarmed so cannot open. Cooling fan in window worked fine. We couldn't work the heater fan in the room. Restroom was clean but small, and sliding door left a gap where the bedroom area was visible. Small TV worked great. Would stay again.

I regret booking The Dean for our downtown Providence trip. The room did not reflect the photos on their website, there is no minibar (the front desk collects anything you need to be refrigerated or frozen - which is iffy because when I was waiting to retrieve my ice packs someone was picking up their leftovers and they said something in that bag wasn't theirs, use that service at your discretion), the central ac unit was broken (so our room had a window ac, which allowed extra noise from the outside in, but not only that smoke and the smell of marijuana from outside too). We requested cribs for our children and the cribs were mismatched, and soiled - I had to call for extra linens to line the cribs because housekeeping did not do that for the babies. On the subject of babies, if you're traveling with children or small babies, they have a very small lift with the metal sliding doors, so be careful with the little fingers and toes. The room we stayed in seemed like it could use some cleaning also, there were dust under the bed and the bedsheet was stained. To communicate with the downstairs staff you either have to leave your room and use a community phone or call/text a number (I tried the text and no one reponded to me, so I had to call). Overall, not the best experience staying at The Dean - unfortunately will not be coming back or recommending this place.
