Would not recommend unless changes were made.
There was breakfast on offer, however you had a to find a staff member to get it ready which was tricky. No restaurant on site currently so breakfast made seperately and only one option. The location isn't bad, has nice views of the coastline and easy access to walking along the waterfront. There are several decent eateries close by within walking distance.
Unfortunately the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned prior to arrival, however this was rectified immediately upon asking. The room was spacious, however the bed was the most uncomfortable bed and pillow combination I have ever slept on - the floor was almost more comfortable.

Make sure you pre-paid and you'll be fine. It's open, it's clean, it's safe, it's fine.
It existed. It was clean. Tonga has a real shortage of accommodations at the moment (late 2024) due to a tsunami a few years ago that ruined many of the hotels on the west coast. This is an eight-room place, still just getting on its feet. It's new, it's clean. The water works, the electricity works, the wifi works, so you know, the basics are there. It's right across from the ferry terminal, so fantastic if you are catching to ferry to or from 'Eua (which is its own complex adventure). Fifteen minutes walk into the central area of Nuku'laofa. The area is safe (all of Tonga seems pretty safe for foreigners), sidewalks are fine. Look, it's fine. For the same money in a Western economy, you'd expect better. But when you travel to Tonga, you are signing up for everything being a little bit impromptu. So in that context, this is one of the better foreigner-class places to stay in town.
A reservation on Booking is not enough to secure a place here. The hotel administrator will try to cancel your reservation, saying you haven't paid. Paying involves chasing him through WhatsApp and doing a bank transfer to his Australian bank account. Once that's done, the reservation is real. Others on this site have reported that their reservation seemed to evaporate when they got there -- this is why. The place is extremely expensive for what it is, but supply and demand on Tongatapu mean that's the rate you pay. There are homestays you can find on Facebook, plus a few other 'formal' hotels, but in Nuku'laofa it's a seller's market for hotels. Breakfast, when the manager can be bothered to provide anything, is Nescafe and whitebread with a reconstituted powdered egg filling. Pro tip: walk 100m down the road to one of the little grocery store places for something else.

Hotel not open yet
The hotel does not open for another week so I am not sure why I was able to book a room and it get confirmed. The staff were very apologetic and helped us find other accommodation which was very difficult as the 4th July is the kings birthday and most places were booked out.
