Location! Location! Location! Gerrish Island is private and quiet.

This apartment is on a private road on Chauncey Creek, with access to a kayak launch that is steps away. Walk, run, or bike and safely enjoy a stroll to the beach on our private, low-traffic road. Gerrish Island is a wildlife lover's and birder's paradise, abutting Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

An intricate network of tidal waterways wind their way through Kittery Point, ideally explored by kayak and paddle board! From the kayak access steps away from the apartment, paddle Chauncey Creek, Spruce Creek, and the Piscataqua River's Back Channel.

*Walk 10 minutes from the apartment to private Crescent Beach, with great views of the Isles of Shoals. From Crescent Beach, walk along a bluff to adjoining Seapoint Beach. Walk just down the road from Seapoint Beach to the Cutts Island Trail to enjoy a scenic walk through the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

*Bike 10 minutes from the apartment or drive to the other side of the island to Fort Foster. Gerrish Island's Fort Foster is an amazing place to explore! The 88-acre site has three beaches, a trail system that connects the beaches together, a pier, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and the remains of the historic fort.

*Drive 5 minutes from the apartment to Kittery Point's scenic waterfront dining at Bistro 1828 at Pepperrell Cove and summer favorite Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier.

*Drive 10 minutes from the apartment to Kittery Foreside (a.k.a. "downtown") for an eclectic mix of some of the Seascoast area's most popular restaurants: elegant Anneke Jans, hipster fave The Black Birch, and craft cocktail master The Wallingford Dram -- do not miss Lil's Cafe with its exquisite homemade crullers. Next to Lil's is Maine Meat, a sustainably farmed, locally sourced whole animal butcher also carrying craft beers and European wines. Just around the corner, visit Kittery Foreside's "Gourmet Alley": Beach Pea Baking Co. for handcrafted sandwiches, fine cakes, and artisan breads; Terracotta Pasta Co. for all natural fresh pastas, ravioli and sauces; Golden Harvest for fresh veggies, wine, and cheese; and Carl's Meat Market, a Kittery institution for over 75 years specializing in fine hand cut meats, deli meat and cheese, and southern Maine's best craft beer selection.

*Tate & Foss Sotheby's International Realty Associate Broker Lynne Joyce shared on their blog in May 2024:

"Featured Lifestyle: Kittery and Kittery Point, Maine'"

"I lived here years ago, while commuting to Boston...it is still one of my favorite Seacoast communities! The quaint downtown area has an authentic vibe (and fabulous restaurants)…people love that it is so close to Portsmouth, you can walk safely back and forth. Nearby, ‘Gourmet Alley’ has small shops offering provisions to suit the most discriminating chefs and palates! And best of all, there’s Kittery Point, with its stunning waterfront properties, idyllic coves and sandy beaches…cross the Chauncey Creek bridge to unspoiled Gerrish Island and you’ll feel like you’ve arrived in Mid-Coast Maine. The setting is dreamy...peaceful and beautiful. If you love nature and enjoy spending time on the water, Kittery is a wonderful place to live!" --Lynne Joyce
