Nice place a little out of the city center, quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast buffet which is not free, so be forewarned. Staff is very pleasant. Towels are pretty awful.

For the amount I paid for the room I had expected something pretty average, what I got was an extremely friendly & comfortable hotel located not more than 5 minutes away from central station. I will be visiting it again!

If you are looking for a modern business hotel with all of the known amenities such as pay TV, exercise facilities, business center, flat screen TV etc., this is NOT your place. This is more like an old fashion bed & breakfast situated in the middle of Copenhagen. No plastic programmable keys but an old fashion key in a brass key ring, small elevator that thinks for ½ minute before moving, an almost hidden entrance shared with the local dentist, very small scattered equipped room but with a very friendly and personal service. Simple but very picturesque.

This hotel is just great. Extremely nice, warm and friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are big enough, bright, clean, comfortable. Great breakfast. Parking is provided for free. Internet is cheap and works well. I dream all hotels could be as homy as this one.

Arriving before check-in time, we were buzzed in and warmly welcomed. Our luggage fit neatly in an efficient but narrow elevator. A dormer made the room seem smaller but added pleasant architectural interest. After a nap on the comfortable bed after our international flight, we went for a long walk, then a relaxed dinner in the City Hall Square. Not being out after dark, and with our room at the back of the hotel, we did not notice any signs that this was a "red light district." The only noise were fireworks going off at 3 a.m. The hotel breakfast was well worth the cost. A vast, traditional Danish breakfast board, with many breads, spreads, meats, wonderful cheeses, and a more complete muesli variety than I have ever seen. Coffee was strong and wonderful, and there was a good variety of tea, too. Impressed by beautifully carved wood work on the cabinets, mirrors and shelves, I discovered the hotel is part of a small chain in Denmark, with a resort in Bali. Staff facilitated our trip to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde by printing detailed directions showing which bus and train to take. Pros: great bilingual & trilingual staff; nice furnishings and clean spaces; good water pressure; free drink first evening after check-in; wonderful breakfast! Cons: no curtain on shower space meant even when care is taken, water is all over floor after showering. Improvements would be a small table beside the sink and a box of tissues.

The Carlton Hotel Guldesmeden is located right in the heart of Copenhagen -- just a few blocks from the City Hall and Tivoli Gardens. We rode the train from a nearby to the Bella Centre every morning for a convention, which was very easy. The hotel was lovely -- great bed linens, attractive bali-inspired decor, all-organic breakfasts (with a wide range of delicious offerings), free/cheap wifi, public computer in the lobby, and an extremely hospitable staff. We followed their recommendations on tours to take and where to eat during our free time, and really enjoyed every minute of the stay. Nice that they offer a complimentary welcome beer or wine upon arrival, too!

Hotellrummet var ljust och behagligt, ett ställe där man verkligen kunde slappna av. Allting var helt och rent och servicen mycket god. Att receptionen bara hade öppet till midnatt var ingenting vi besvärades av. Hotellets läge var perfekt, bara 7-10 minuters promenad till centralstation, tivoli och ströget.

We had an excellent welcome at Hotel Guldsmeden Carlton, with a free drink & cake offered & very friendly staff. The rooms were comfortable with some traffic noise being on a main road towards central Copenhagen. However it was in an ideal location & within walking distance of Central Copenhagen, Nyhavn (the old part) & The Carlsberg Brewery. Breakfast at the Guldsmeden was excellent, self service cold buffet, the only problem was that you had to watch how much you ate to leave room for a delicious Smorrbord (traditional open sandwich) or gorgeous cake in the afternoon.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Decent size rooms, wi-fi, comfortable bed, lack of corporate contamination, tasteful decor and unobtrusive can-do management. Location right in humming Vesterbro. Would use it again if returning

The hotel is well situated and the room was comfortable and reasonably priced. The organic breakfast was excellent and well worth the money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was able to rent a bike from the hotel for getting around. A few problems with the room - broken bedside light; broken fridge; wifi broadband only worked intermittently.

The hotel was not air conditioned and we needed to keep the windows open to sleep. No way to block any noise from outside. It was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful!! Location was good and close enough to walk to Central Station, but we took the bus several times.

The staff is friendly and very helpful and the breakfast is amazing! The hotel is on a busy street, and it was noisy outside our window (neighbor apartments), but the excellent staff, beakfast and casual ambience made it feel like visiting friends.

Auch der zweite Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Bei Anreise mit Auto: Parkplatz vorab erfragen. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es ist kein Luxushotel, aber gut und sauber.

Ein "etwas anderes" Hotel - sehr charmant. Gut gelegen. Super Frühstück. Nette Leute. Was will man mehr? Einzige Kritik: der Flur (Neubau) ist ziemlich hellhörig, das Zimmer sehr warm (Sonnenschutz am Fenster wäre super).

I enjoyed my stay at the Guldsmeden very much, and the breakfasts were superb, with a stunning array of cheeses, breads, and cold cuts that could keep you going all day. Some guests might be a bit discouraged by the 10-12 minute walk to the train station (in a direction away from the old town and most of the sights), but the neighborhood is rich in restaurants, and very close to one of Copenhagen's most lovely parks (Frederikshave). The staff was unfailingly helpful.
