About this house rental
This beautiful 19th century house is located in a lively village on the Canal du Midi. The Vigneron (Winegrower's house) has recently been renovated to a high standard, whilst retaining the charm of many original features. It benefits from a good sized, south facing back garden with olive trees, a grapefruit tree and beautiful planting. The garden is completed by a lawn for play or sunbathing and a newly installed 8.75 x 3.75m heated, salt water pool (seasonal) with an electrically operated safety cover.
Inside, the spacious house has been designed to accommodate up to 12 guests (maximum 10 adults) in comfort. A new summer kitchen has been installed on the ground floor to facilitate outdoor living, dining and cooking on the gas BBQ. Alongside the ground floor sitting / TV / DVD area, you will find games including a pool / table tennis table, air hockey / football tables and a selection of musical instruments. The elegant Grand Salon on the middle floor includes a further sitting area, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. Over the middle and top floors are located four double / twin rooms along with a huge attic space that has been converted to easily accommodate children or a family of four. The attic space also includes a third sitting area with a very large wall mounted TV, complete with X-box, games and a wide selection of DVDs. The three bath / shower rooms are beautifully renovated in a traditional style (one bathroom on the middle floor, one en-suite shower room on the middle floor, one shower room on the top floor). The house is furnished with a charming mixture of antique and modern pieces. The small details to ensure your comfort throughout your stay have been addressed- luxurious hand, bath and pool tools are provided along with guest robes, slippers and toiletries. Hotel quality bed linen completes the understated bedroom spaces. A welcome basket awaits you.
The attic and the Grand Salon are air-conditioned, the other north facing bedrooms are cooled in the summer months by the beautiful shutters and room fans. Central heating and an open fireplace are available for the cooler months.
Colombiers is an enchanting, ancient village on the Canal du Midi, complete with marina. Local amenities can be reached within a couple of minutes walk, including Boulangeries, several excellent bars and restaurants, a small supermarket, play park, football / basketball fields, pétanque and tennis courts. Larger supermarkets are within a five minute drive. The path alongside the canal is perfect for walking, running, and cycling. Boat trips or boat rental can be arranged from the marina in Colombiers to allow exploration of the beautiful canal by water.
A fifteen to twenty minute drive will take you to the Mediterranean beaches at Valras and Serignan Plages. Heading inland, Roquebrun offers canoeing and swimming in the river Orb and slightly further takes you to the Haute Languedoc National Park. The towns and cities to be explored nearby include Beziers, Carcassone, Narbonne and Montpellier. Smaller coastal towns such as Marseillain, Meze, Bouzigues and Sete offer wonderful seafood reastaurants, washed down with a delicious pale Rose.
Transport links are excellent - Beziers airport is a 25 minute drive, Montpellier and Carcassonne about one hour. Several other local airports can be reached within 2 hours. Beziers rail station, a 10 minutes drive, allows access to Barcelona (2.5 hours) and Paris (4 hours).

We booked this property for a short family break in late October and had a wonderful time.
A few previous reviews have commented on how it's even better in reality than in the photos and we have to agree: the garden & pool area is really well designed (we've never seen such an ingenious pool cover); the interior is vast; the kitchen is well-equipped; and my kids absolutely loved the XBox with its 50+ games plus the air hockey table, table football etc.
In terms of location, the property is at the end of a very quiet street right next to the Canal du Midi. The town centre is about 10 minutes walk away and has a decent boulangerie, some cafe-restaurants but no general store that we could find (we think it had permanently closed recently). Fortunately there's a reasonable Casino supermarket and some other shops in a zone industriel about 5 minutes drive from Colombiers.
The check-in process was smooth with a warm welcome from Antony, and the owner Susan was very responsive to messages before and during the booking.
Overall a really enjoyable stay and we're very tempted to book again.

House was beautiful and had everything you could possibly think of to make your stay just perfect. Close to some lovely restaurants and bars and near the canal 😊😊. Loved this place.

We enjoyed this large property in a nice village close to the canal. All the amenities we needed were on hand and there were a couple of nice local places to eat too. The house itself is large and well equipped with plenty of kitchen equipment and lots of dvds for the children in the evening, alongside games etc. The pool was a hit and we spent our time in there when the weather was hot. There is plenty of shade in the garden too. I would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues as there are lots of stairs - this was fine for us with spaces for everyone to sleep and relax.

We just loved your house so much . We stayed with 2 large families ranging from 10- 40 . It was everything we could have asked for and more . The pictures are great but in person it’s even better. All the rooms are beautiful with bedding and towels a plenty. The salon perfect for family time while the attic room and games room perfect for kids chilling time.
The garden and pool were lovely even got to take home an early grapefruit from the tree. We explored the local area visiting Valras,Narbonne and Serignan beaches . We also did a day trip to Spain and Carcassone as well as more local adventures .
Such a lovely spot for a really lovely holiday Thankyou

This is a perfect house for an extended family holiday. The first week we were with our extended family, the second with 2 other couples. It is very well equipped for cooking and bbqing. A lovely outside table for dining near the pool. The salon is spacious with lots of room to gather. The upstairs “dormitory” is perfect for teens - an almost private space. And the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a couple of minor wifi and bbq glitches - but were quickly and happily resolved by the local manager. The village is small, but quite lively as there were community events both weekends. It is very convenient to Béziers and just a shot drive to the coast

We were incredibly fortunate to have a holiday in July 2020, and this property was really worth it. We had such a relaxing time, enjoying everything from the pool to the film nights on the huge tv i n the attic room. My adult kids even got totally transfixed by an old-fashioned jigsaw! The house plus service really does merit 5 stars as you have everything you need, including a properly equipped kitchen. And it is all so clean and well maintained. The neighbourhood is charming - being so close to the canal and great restaurants is a bonus. There is a lot to do, in the local area (Don't miss the Oppidum if you like Roman remains) and within 40 mins drive -beaches, gardens (St Adrien is a marvel), towns (lovely lunch on the river in Adge), art (amazing quirky modern art gallery in Serignan),, haut Langeudoc, and of course vineyards everywhere!

We have just spent a fabulous fortnight at this property. The house is a perfect base for a large group to chill out and explore the village and wider area. The pool and garden is lovely, even better than the pictures suggest and the rest of the house comfortably accommodated two families of four and some additional visitors with ages ranging from 15-50 (a great place to spend a 50th!) The house is very well equipped and the village has all the local amenities you will need. The canal is on your doorstep, there are local vineyards aplenty, beautiful Beziers is only a short bus ride away and the wider surrounding area is lovely. Highly recommended - we certainly hope to return.

A lovely house with lots of character and style next to the canal - the pool is amazing with salt water - a perfect sunny garden to relax in - the house has great facilities and on arrival Antony explained everything to us - a great holiday for a family group

We had a wonderful 2 week stay in this lovely house. All the rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed spending most of our time in the garden and the lovely pool which was heated perfectly . There is a good balance of sun and shade in the garden and lots of sun loungers. The open plan living area also a great area to have dinner and relax in the evening if the evenings are a bit chilly. Anthony met us on arrival and was really welcoming and helpful and Susan was great when I kept contacting her before we went to ask her things.
We had some nice walks along canal du midi and also visited Roquebrun which was lovely. We visited lovely beaches, Valras Plage was great and could park right near the beach. Highly recommend Au Lavior restaurant in the village was lovely.
Only slight downsides of the house I would say is a downstairs loo would be welcome! Especially for toddlers and grandparents - it's quite a long way from pool to loo. You do need to be reasonably fit as eating outside means some carting of things from kitchen to downstairs and out to garden, there is a little downstairs kitchen but dishwasher etc all upstairs .
The large top floor dorm type room we were planning to use as a kids bedroom, unfortunately there was no way of making the room dark as no blinds on the velux windows in there. So it was no good for our little ones as they need it to be a bit dark when going to bed as it was daylight in there until 9.30pm. So we had travel cot in with us. Only other thing that would be useful is high chairs a couple of ikea ones would be good so could have one upstairs in kitchen and one downstairs to use outside. There was a seat that can attach to chair but highchairs would be easier.
We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay and would definitely recommend the house. Thanks for having us!

we very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend your house. We had 12 people in our party and we were all very comfortable with our own beds, the house offers a lot of space over 3 floors, 2 toilets and three showers. Great amenities, big kitchen on second floor and small kitchen on ground floor for preparing outdoor dinners or bbq. With a big table outside that fit all 12 of us we mainly spent our time in the quiet garden, wich has got the private spacious pool and a bit of grass area for activities, two beautiful fruit trees and a fence on the roadside. It is a very quiet area just next to the river. The town is a really small cute French town with a bakery and a local supermarket just 5 min walk away. We had the use of 3 bikes that was working so we could explore the area around the town. Mainly being grape vines and country side. Unfortunately the town only had 2 restaurants that were open, a pizza place an a lunch place. Maybe there is more open during summer months, but perfect if you have a car and can visit the coast or bigger towns. The house is beautifully decorated and clean with lots of games and things to keep the whole family busy. We also got a very warm welcome from the hosts, highly recommd this place and would love to come back. Only negative thing was the amount of chlorine in the pool the first days. It was very strong and went of the charts when we mesured so just keep an eye on that. Thanks you!

We stayed at this fabulous house with our three children and their grandparents. The house is huge! It is stunningly furnished with really comfy beds. The pool is a great temperature and a really descent size. Of course the kids spent most of the day in the pool but also enjoyed use of the pool table. Occasionally they would disappear only to be found in the room with the massive TV and games consoles!!
We all loved having use of the bikes to explore the area.
I would most definitely recommend this house and hope to return in the future.

We (i.e. 3 families) have just returned from an awesome holiday at The Jackson's (amazingly well-equipped) holiday home in Colombiers. The house totally lived up to expectations - and beyond. Spacious and cool yet cosy and comfortable - and the loft space was just perfect for the teenagers. They loved being able to hang out up there (with the x-box and huge selection of DVDs!) and the adults loved the peace and quiet once they'd all disappeared! That said, we also enjoyed lots of great family time together, in the pool or around the huge outdoor dining tabled & BBQ. The local area is stunning and we did everything from beach days, boat trips, walks / runs along the Canal du Midi, tree climbing. wine tasting (not at the same time!) and canoeing - as well as just chilling! Would thoroughly recommend this property to other families or groups - and I know you'll find the owner (Susan) and their welcoming team (Antony & Vincente) so friendly and easy to deal with. Happy Holidays!

Wow! We’ve just returned from a lovely stay in Colombiers - the house is amazing, the photos don’t do it justice! An impressive entrance hall which goes through to the handy downstairs kitchen (perfect for chilling wine/beer!), lounge/games room and fab garden and pool! It was super hot during our stay but the olive trees provided shade and the pool to cool off. Initial hesitation as the pool was described as salt water but you would never know (I think it’s well water), and was a good size for a swim and plenty of room for the kids to dive about! The rest of the house is spacious, tastefully decorated with quality furniture. The attic room was huge and great that it was air conditioned. The other bedrooms had fans and keeping the shutters closed certainly helped to keep them cool. The large kitchen/dining room/lounge was perfect for our big group (3 families) and the huge record and CD collection was great entertainment for the adults while relaxing with a few glasses of wine. Colombiers itself is a small town but has a shop, bakeries and restaurants as described. Cafe Le New Port was good, and pizza Chez Ninie - be aware some are not open on Sundays. We borrowed the bikes and cycled down the canal to Poilhes. Loads to explore in the area - Béziers festival during our stay, Roquebrun was lovely and enjoyed the high ropes and Béziers Adventure and Sun Karting (high ropes, go karting, mini golf - although Calfornien at Vias much better). Cité De Carcassonne well worth a day exploring (gets very busy). Overall a fantastic house and good location if you want to stay home and relax or go off and explore - we just didn’t stay long enough and will definitely be back!

What a wonderful holiday! A beautiful house in a large village with lots of amenities. We had some lovely walks/bike rides along the canal (just at the end of the road), walked up to the boulangerie, enjoyed meals out in the cafes/restaurants within walking distance, our favourite being Au Lavoir just round the corner where we enjoyed a lovely lunch! The house has everything you could possibly require, for a relaxing and restful stay, air conditioning which was much needed in the heat! And fab pool which kept us all amused and lots of other things to amuse our children! Many lovely places to visit close by including Roquebrun river beach where we enjoyed a picnic, Gruissan and Valras-Plage beaches, and Beziers and Narbonne. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful home, and Thank you again to Antony for all his help and information too! And of course his fabulous art! We hope to be be back soon! X

A spacious ,well appointed property in easy walking distance of bustling Canal du Midi "port" ,Columbiers. The heated pool and outside space were perfect for our family needs.Although the facilities, pooltable, table football, games consoles and a variety of bikes are aimed at a teenager family,we adults had fun with them!Susan had fitted stair gates in strategic positions which helped greatly to contain our little ones. The welcome pack ,robes and slippers, toiletries and the very detailed notes regarding the house and activities ,local and more distant, was much appreciated. Both the several restaurants in the village providing a variety of eating out options, and the two boulangeries were responsible for our weight gain - delicious! With the village Casino, and the large out of town one a 10 minute drive, supplies were no problemBeziers airport was a 30 minute drive (parking at and close to the property was no problem) and with fast access to the A9,touring the wider area was easy.A most enjoyable stay.......thank you
