Ein perfekter Aufenthalt.

Die Aussicht auf die Weinberge und das Meer waren top. Haben eine Weinprobe gemacht beim Sonnenuntergang am Pool, ebenfalls super. Ein Ort um die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Sehr erholsam und relaxt.

Ruhige Lage inmitten von Weinbergen. Aufmerksamer und sehr freundlicher Service beim Abendessen.

Für den Preis (4 Nächte für fast 800 Euro) waren wir enttäuscht von einem relativ kleinen Raum (Suite 36 m2 laut Beschreibung) zwei kleinere Räume, einer mit 2 Betten voll gestellt, der andere als Schlafzimmer OK. Frühstück war sehr einfach ohne Warmspeisen und zum Teil mehrere Tage altem Gebäck/ Kuchen. Abendessen hätte für den recht hohen Preis qualitativ deutlich besser sein müssen (Pasta war matschig, andere Gerichte haben nicht frisch gekocht geschmeckt).

Very disappointed.

This is actually a hard review to write, as I don't like writing bad reviews, but we were really disappointed by this stay. The pool area looks fabulous, but unfortunately the weather was too bad to use it. I do not hold that against the hotel, but I am disappointed that they don't seem to have planned somewhere comfortable for customers to relax in such circumstances (and it's not unusual for it to rain sometimes in Sicily!)

Don't pay for a sea view: you can see the sea, but only if you stand by the window - you can't sit and relax and enjoy the view. The room was small and not really comfortable. The shower was tiny. I am not large but I kept knocking the water off when I tried to move in it! We paid €16 each for the wine tasting which included nibbles. The girl was really lovely, we did the tour of the estate with her, but 3 glasses of wine were put in front of us and then she left. No 'swill and smell, can you catch the essence of ...' etc. One of the wines wasn't even grown on the property but on another estate they own. Really, don't bother. The food in the restaurant was extremely disappointing. I had Pasta a la Norma, badly done. We ate out the next night. The breakfast was definitely average, and it took me ages to order coffee one morning, I was just overlooked. Repeatedly. The first night of our stay in what we thought was going to be a chic, boutique-style hotel, we were joined by a very very large group who took over the area where we doing the 'wine tasting' (see above) for a meal while watching the football match. I am not exaggerating. I don't mean a table of 10. I mean every table in the restaurant. There was another restaurant area that we moved into. Taking the rest of the abandoned wine with us. There is nowhere to relax apart from your room if the weather is bad. There are 'areas' but they are not really designed for relaxation. How on earth can it be so problematical to buy a glass of wine (without a meal) to take to a room in a vinyard? You'd be surprised. Plus the wine had a lot of 'debris' floating in it and a greasy layer. Apparently this is to be expected of Bio wine: not bio wine that I've happily drunk. They couldn't just say 'oh, that's a bad bottle'. They did change the wine but did not refund the difference (to be fair it wasn't a lot) in price!!!!

Location in the winery is unique, rooms were well organised, and the organic wine and produce was delightful. Restaurant was also very good.

Beautiful, well done hotel with good food and wine. Beautiful location with good views of the countryside and sea. Very well maintained.

Reception is often abandoned and instructions given by them at check-in aren’t great. We weren’t told how to let ourselves into the property once they’d locked it all up (by 7-8pm) and no-one was at reception. 10 minutes of buzzing the reception buzzer did nothing so I ended up having to squeeze through a small gap and bang on the restaurant window until a fellow guest saw us and went to find someone. Also at checkout reception was empty so we ended up having to find someone in the kitchen who could check us out. Aside from the reception staff, everyone and everything else (including the other staff) was great.

outside view’s exceptional and it’s stops there, poor hospitality, poor ambience (rooms / restaurant) for the price

the outside facilities were great, beautiful views.

the rooms were old and drab… like staying at you’re great grandmother’s, bedroom furnishings and bathroom was very old, no showers (bath with handheld shower head)with old musty smell. We had scheduled a sunset wine tasting and actually missed the sunset lol…the staff is more focused on the business part then the hospitality. The restaurant had zero ambience, no music and very bright lighting we felt like we were eating in a fancy cafeteria. the food we had was disappointing, the previous reviews did not match our expectations. The breakfast was ok, large selection, but staff not focused on being hospitable!

Vita Siciliana but different, the good different.

What was not to like at Baglio Donna Franca. It was a perfect stay. As from the moment you see the Baglio rising up from the distance between the grapes till the moment of check out we were amazed. The staff, the food, the environment, the room, the pool, the sunset wine tasting and on and on and on.

A relaxing and enjoyable stay but unfortunately breakfast let them down

Room excellent. Pool excellent. Staff excellent. The only thing letting this property down is its breakfast. Bread so hard no-one could eat it. A toaster that didn’t toast the bread. Coffee was poor. We stayed at 4 properties during our stay in Sicily and while Donna Franca filled every other expectatation the breakfast was unacceptable for the standard they were promoting.

wine is great everything else isn’t

Wine is absolutely fantastic!

Well, the room was damp , the stuff was borderline passive aggressive, the swimming pool was cold which is rather unusual for August in Sicily, breakfast was seriously bad. No English speaking tours were going on when we got there and no one was there who could give a little tour around vineyard or spend 5 minutes explaining their business.

Just dreamy

An absolutely beautiful hotel and winery, surrounded by wine fields and sleepy country roads that invite to wander to watch sun rise or set. An outdoor pool with a view to the ocean. Tastefully furnished and decorated rooms, super comfortable beds and nice toiletry products. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant - spectacular food and delicious wines (the property's own production) at great value. Bikes can be rented at no additional cost and the property has plenty of parking.

Impossible to reach without a taxi/car. The breakfast was rather disappointing - small selection of too dry food.

Exceptional experience in the middle of wine fields

Great clean facility, pleasant restaurant and tasty exquisite dinner, nice and helpful staff. overall very quiet place for those who is tired from big city life.

we arrived late and had to depart early next day so unfortunately didn’t have opportunity to fully use the facilities. however we had a lovely meal. extremely accommodating for food for us and our 9 year old. our wine was super and a breakfast bag was kindly prepared for us. receptionist, chef and waiter excellent. pool looked lovely too - just sorry we didn’t stay longer to use pool and sample more wine.

Beautiful everything. Newly done combining new and old. Great food too. Nice wine tasting on the terrasse overlooking the vinyard.

Maybe some background music in the restaurant- it was a big space with not many people so a bit akward - but not a negative just a suggestion 😀

Lovely surroundings, I would work on interiors a bit more

The location, the swimming pool and the outdoor areas, the passion of the owner for their resort and their wine making experience, the wine tasting by the pool. The room was quite fresh without the air con (which you can also use).

The room and the bathroom were massive. However, very dark at night, and could do with some adjustments. The bathroom only had a shower over a bath tub without any protection, so it was very easy to wet the floor. Not a problem, but the floor could become slippery and showering inside a bathtub might not be easy for everyone. The water in the sink had a very weird smell (sulfur?). The bed header had two long red strikes which could be mistaken with blood. Don't think it was, but it's a bit off-putting. The hair drier is wall mounted in the bathroom and very slow. I saw rooms being made and I don't think the bed covers are changed for every guest. I might be wrong, but on the cart I could only see fresh bed sheets and towels, and not covers. All in all, I think the external and internal areas feel doesn't match. The restaurant and the wine tasting areas are quite pristine and posh, while the room was more basic.
