The text concierge service was great. They had us in a room away from the elevator as requested, so noise was not an issue. Service and attitude from everyone we encountered was great. Very clean and stylish updates while preserving this historic property.
Not a lot of amenities. Shower design isn't the best for not getting water all over the bathroom. But great for a short stay.

The design of the hotel is very trendy and nice, the staff was excellent and always ready to assist when needed. Rooms are very clean and the hotel is located in a cool, busy and trendy street full of cafés, bars and options to eat out.
On the flip side, the furniture and almost every part of our room had design issues as a result of its artistic side. The shower had almost no pressure, and even so the drainage couldn't drain the water. There was no closet, instead the room had a few hangers only. And the old-but-gold, manual lift goes up only with the help of the staff which means you won't get back down on it...

There were great restaurants and cafes nearby and the street cars were right outside the hotel

I loved the room! It was funky and artistic! The location was excellent! In walking distance to great shops and restaurants.
The price was abit high but it was worth the price!

Great atmosphere

Wonderful ambiance, great rooms with comfortable beds and interesting decor. Wonderful little bar restaurant for cocktails at night and weekend brunch. Great pool table on the 3rd floor too!
The rooms facing Queen have single pane glass, so there is a fair bit of street noise. Double paned windows would help reduce the noise and give more insulation too.

nice vibe . comfortable bed
had to call down for ironing board, none in room. lounge outside our room had people hanging until 2am so noisy. side entrance off Gladstone was locked when we pulled up to drop bags off in pouring rain before parking. no instructions to actually leave parking garage which was insane if you went the wrong way and got trapped in the residents area and had to piggyback off a resident leaving. . front desk didn’t take my email down correctly, even after spelling it for them, and so no receipt until I texted and provided correct spelling of email. no bars open! one closed for private party and one not open at 5 when we were hoping for a drink before going out. and no one seemed to know when it would open, front desk had arranged for timed taxi pick up but taxi didn’t show until half hour after (not front desk fault but they kind of gave up on the taxi and told us to arrange Uber but we were having trouble with updating the app since we don’t regularly use Uber. just felt a little brushed off and abandoned in that case.

Location was good and the hotel is very cute.
For a hotel that charges $400-$500 a night, they should probably have hairdryers in the room without having to call housekeeping. The TV was also just plain cable. The price doesn't justify the cost.

The hotel decor is stunning! The staff were amazing. Everyone we interacted with was kind and very professional. The manager even gave us a complimentary breakfast for my birthday.
I think the price is a bit high but that is any hotel in the Downtown Toronto vicinity so I can't entirely blame Gladstone for that. I was a bit disappointed that the studio king room didn't come with a mini fridge, iron/ steamer, or blow dryer which is quite basic.

it’s so historic and a beautiful art hotel
parking was very poor. you have to watch a video to find out where to park and there is no pedestrian walkway, so you have to walk where the cars drive

The location is perfect to explore the city
They had a private event going on. The lobby was packed with a dense noisy crowd so I could not enjoy the bar. Also, they were offering tours in the hotel so that the upper floors were noisy and occupied by the same crowd. Everytime I was going in and out of the hotel, some bodyguards were questioning me if I was part of the private event and would tell me that I have to go straight to my room to make sure I will not enjoy their event. The room was quite small with no hairdryer.

The Gladstone is a unique property in a central location representative of its lively and eclectic neighborhood. The staff is attentive and helpful. The attention to detail extends to the art collection displayed throughout the property.
Morning construction across the street and a 3am billiard game on the third floor interrupted my night.

The staff was wonderful, helpful and very welcoming. The vibe of the Gladstone is hip, and the boutique size makes it a great choice for friends to stay all together in one small hotel. The old style / driver elevator is cool, and the stairs as an alternative large / wide and good as a walk up option. The interior brick walls in the rooms give a great warm feeling. We loved our large windows in the King Loft room, and the blinds were controlled by remote which made opening and closing easy. The main lobby onsite bar restaurant is small, bright, and great for a Sunday breakfast. For 8 of us, breakfast cost $250 (!!!!). The food was delicious. the Coffee not so much. There is a Tim's close by and a grocery store directly behind the hotel. Communication by text with staff is very efficient.
We didn't like that the bathroom sink was not in the commode room, but rather inside the main part of the room. To wash hands, one must open the bathroom door, and come into the bedroom. Not the cleanest nor private idea. The rooms have no frills. It was shocking after a late night shower, to discover no hair dryers in the room. To have to contact the front desk for a hairdryer after midnight was not fun. Bring your own hair dryer. Upon checkin, and once inside the room, we requested extra hangers, towels, wine glasses, and all came swiftly. The hotel is LOUD!!!!! Maybe it is the flooring, or the lack of soundproofing, but voices noise carried as though the others were inside our room with us! Very early morning noise as all the other hotel guests with kids got up and at em. ...Not a good hotel for romance, nor rest, nor sleep.

everything was great
cost per room per night was extremely inflated given TIFF event

The location is good and the room decor is lovely.
There is little to no sound proofing in the rooms overlooking Queen Street and you can hear street cars running all night. If you are there on the weekend and there is an in house wedding be prepared to have your room rock until 1 am. Even on the 4th floor we could “feel” the music. There were weddings on both Friday and Saturday night. And speaking of weddings, we were there because our daughter was getting married in a venue just down the street. It was very disappointing that the Gladstone in no way acknowledged our daughter’s event. A token chocolate on the bed and a little note would have been nice. They knew we were there for a wedding and that the newly weds were spending their wedding night there. They did nothing to acknowledge it and worse, refused to provide a table and chair in one of the rooms so the hair and make up artists could come in. We ended up having to reorganize and hire drivers because apparently if you aren’t holding the wedding there, they will not help in any way. The staff working there were pleasant enough but there was absolutely no warmth or personal touch. I will never stay there again. Ironically, if you want to take a pet to the hotel, there are services available to support your stay - water bowls etc. But brides? Nothing.

The bed was so comfy!
There was a wild wedding going on, but it quieted down around midnight
