Central location, on the square, lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Very historic, wonderful old photos of local Native Americans and pioneers from the 1800s.
Great restaurant in the hotel—Tomo Japanese.
Quiet.
Staff were ok once I made friends with them.
NO PARKING.
Lots deferred maintenance.
No central heat—there is a boiler and ancient radiators but they did not turn them on. It was cold and the only heat was from a portable electric space heater.
No microwave oven in the room. There was one old microwave in the lobby for the entire hotel.
No fridge in the room and none in for guests in the hotel.
The breakfast was pitiful. Cereal, a few sorry looking bagels and English muffins, yogurt, instant oatmeal. The only “hot” water was from one of those inverted water jugs with a blue spigot for cold and a red one for warm. The spigot came off when I tried to use it.
Generally an old, neglected property that would be nice if the owners made the renovations necessary to bring it into the 20th century, let alone the 21st.

Clawfoot tub a huge bonus and it was very clean. It’s also a nicely decorated hotel with a historic vibe.

The history inside
The view from the bedroom went to the roof.

The location is amazing, just wish we would have brought our dogs.
Bed was a little uncomfortable
10.0
While very basic, it was adequate. A little more protein, like a boiled egg would have been nice.
We were not greeted well upon arrival. Could have been friendlier
9.0
The hotel was clean, room was spacious and filled with old-world charm. The location was very good for walking to restaurants and shopping. The Farmer's Market was very enjoyable. The staff was friendly, check in and check out were no problem. Beautiful scenery, good hiking thru the woods.
The rooms didn't seem to have air conditioning, one could open windows for air but there were no screens. The ceiling fan helped. Also, the rooms do not come equipped with hair dryers - but you can get one from the front desk.
10.0
Decent breakfast. Coffee juice, fruit, vegan milk options, cereal and bagels
Could use more surfaces in the bathroom for putting stuff. No shelf in the shower for shampoo. A minor inconvenience but very annoying while it's happening.
10.0
Breakfast was simple. English muffins, cereals, yogurt some fruit coffee and tea.
Could have offered better coffee than Folgers-lol! I went elsewhere for a stronger cup.

Very nice historic hotel in center of town. Staff was very nice.
We reserved a double queen room but apparently there was a problem with the previous guest in that room (pet odors) so they called us ahead and asked if we minded getting a king suite instead. We said OK but when we arrived found that the king suite was a basic king room with window facing a central column with ceiling vents. While it was clean and quiet, it was sad not to have some kind of view out. Bathroom was complete with original features. All worked fine but stepping into the tub would be difficult for anyone with agility issues.

historic old building, great location
6.0
The rooms are clean.
The windows and walls are very extremely thin, letting you hear the neighbor snoring all night, and hearing the motorcycles feel like they are in the room.

very rowdy guests talking loudly in hallway and seemed very insecure. like anyone could walk in. strangers right outside my door making lots of noise and kept me awake several hours. no good

love it
everything and it was close to the theater

staff was very courteous and accommodating, the location is also amazing and close to everything

The front desk staff was nice
I was excited about the location of this hotel. sadly the center of town was full of homeless people, the street noise was terrible from traffic and car alarms went off all night. The hotel is also very old so the rooms are not sound proof and we were on a floor with young people partying all night
8.0
Exactly what I wanted from the room, it was a beautiful hotel, very nice workers, all super helpful and friendly, and the location was amazing, everything is close by, food, drinks, minimarts, just seconds away from the super cute hotel; the room very cute, a little beat up in some places but it is older so totally understandable and it fits the theme of the hotel, and the old style claw foot bathtub was amazing, especially with the copper pipes all around. Definitely would go again as soon as I can.
Totally not the hotel’s fault, but there was very loud street noises for most of the day and into the night till the bars close, even with the windows closed you can hear everything outside, from people’s car engines, to the bass speakers in some cars, all the way to the older cars/busses and semi’s, it was pretty loud even on the 3rd floor. also You can hear people yelling all day long too but that’s just Arcata, not the hotel’s fault other then maybe needing to get thicker windows.

Breakfast was poor. They had bagels, a toaster, coffee, and a bowl of apples or oranges.
Building a little cold but they provided a space heater which helped some.
9.0
Cool old hotel with a lot of character but comfortable at the same time!
10.0
I love historic buildings. They have character and are typically centrally located. We scored on both counts. The room was typical for older buildings. A bit small but that is to be expected. Amenities were very good. Great spot for shopping and entertainment. Bit noisy
The noise in the alley was pretty bad. But not the hotel's fault.
7.0
good location. vintage type hotel.
very minimal amenities for what we paid. it was cold and had old heating units that woke us up. parking was a bit confusing.
10.0
Close to everything! Walking distance to most of the bars on Arcata.
6.0
location and charming decor as it was in 1915 walking distance to stores and restaurants, coffee pot in room and lobby had bagels in am fruit
located in town square many homeless and derelicts constant smell of marijuana awakened from sleep one night due to loud engine sounds people yelling…space heaters so lobby freezing and room. They allegedly turned the radiator heaters on during night felt no evidence of that. charming perhaps in summer don’t stay here in winter
