wonderful getway for peace and quiet and hiking.

The view and the quiet. The cottage was the perfect place for a hiking trip—in the park in minutes but super comfortable at night, great shower and comfy beds. Kitchen was more than adequate and we took advantage of the suggestion of the corner store in Sperryville for some delicious trout. we watched deer and a groundhog from the porch in morning and evening, enjoyed the stars and fireflies at night. One of my favorite things about renting homes is experiencing the gracious hospitality of hosts like Sally Anne.

Nothing! even the traffic noise frankly just sounds like waves. My husband was a tad skeptical of the formal, feminine decor, but once he walked in, he was going on about the view, the quiet, the comfort.

Enchanting cottage with a vineyard at the end of the dirt road. Lovely.

Such an enchanting cottage - mostly due to the vision of the owner, I’d think. While the cottage itself is well- built (not drafty, good room sizes, useful kitchen area), it’s the ‘Shabby Chic’-ish decor (if you’re familiar - swirly cabbage rose patterns, soft lovely colors, etc) that makes it so sweet.

Well, we can’t change the weather but id like to go back in warmer, hiking weather when things are in bloom. Til then, vineyards will suffice!!

Absolutely Fabulous!

This house exceeded our expectations in every way. The house and property are beautiful and all of the amenities are luxurious and plentiful. There was nothing lacking. In addition, the host, SallyAnne, went above and beyond in every way, from her welcome call as soon as I booked, to the check-in letter with recommendations for things to do in the area. She was always available and responsive and left many thoughtful extras in the house. I would stay at LeFay Cottage again without hesitation!

Wonderful experience

The LeFay cottage was a wonderful and unique Labor Day weekend getaway for our family. Only an hour and a half away from the DC area, it was easy to reach on major roads and just a couple miles to restaurants and other amenities in Sperryville. The kids loved the extensive grounds and a really fun park a few miles away. The cottage is elegant and has a fairy theme geared towards weddings or romantic getaways but the kids enjoyed it too. Two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs plus a bedroom and full bath downstairs were just right for parents, two kids, and grandmother. The cottage was nicely stocked with a Keurig, K-cups, condiments, and dinnerware, and plenty of luxurious towels and toiletries. The large back deck had a grill and afforded an nice view of the mountains. The proprietor was very considerate and informative and there was an on-site caretaker in case of emergencies (there were none). All in all, an excellent experience and highly recommended. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The cottage is beautiful! It has everything we needed to cook and have fun. It’s so relaxing during these stressful times. This is my second stay in 2020 and I may go again!

This cottage is located in a quiet area, beautiful landscaped, well maintained, and super clean. During the pandemic, the landlord was very thoughtful — providing masks during our stay and hand sanitizer in every room. She was a quick responder and provided us with a lot of useful info. She was kind enough to let us check out late with no charge. The property is close to Shenandoah Thornton Gap entrance (7ish miles), lots of trails there. We chose two trails that she mentioned in the welcome letter — breathtaking views . Luray caverns is about 15 miles away. You can cook at the cottage or dine out. There are a few restaurants close by. We loved Headmaster’s — pub food but delicious ( No reservations needed). I could go on and on...I recommended this place to everyone and would love to stay there again next time I visit that area.
