We had a great stay here, all as described, well equipped with the air con and WiFi working well. Pool was so nice and well used - definitely needed in August.
11km from the motorway, the road is winding, and then 1.5km off the road to the Villa, all very straightforward to get to on good roads.
Close to Competa, which has small supermarkets, restaurants and a great ice cream shop!

We wanted a place to get away from everything for a few days, in the sun, with a pool. The villa was perfect!

We loved everything about our stay. The house was spacious, well equipped and had the added benefit of air conditioning, which we couldn’t have done without! What we loved the most was the outdoor space. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the bbq and outdoor seating. The views of the mountains were breathtaking and our nightly visit from a friendly fox added to the enjoyment, despite it taking a shoe one night, only to be found outside of the property amongst the bushes! Thank you, Janet, for letting us stay in your wonderful house. We shall return!

We had an amazing stay .The villa and the property had everything you could ask for .We loved it all !We also couldn’t thank the amazing property team who came and escorted as to the villa when we got lost .They really went above and beyond.

We had a lovely time staying at the villa. There were four of us in two rooms and there was plenty of space inside and particularly outside. We did yoga most mornings outside on the patio, streaming classes from the UK (using the WiFi, which was quick and covered all of the patio/pool area). There's a proper, well-equipped kitchen, which worked for us as we ate in. As others have mentioned, the villa is quite a long way down a concrete road from the highway. The road is properly surfaced so is no problem to drive along and it means that you are secluded and peaceful, although you are a bit in the valley which means that at the time of year we were there (mid-Sept) it took a while for the sun to get onto the terrace in the morning and in the evening the sun dipped behind the hills at about 7.30. Not a problem for us as we didn't want to be in full sun for yoga, and may anyway not be an issue at other times of the year. We've stayed in Competa before and like it a lot - especially the ice cream shop. There are plenty of well-marked walking trails of varying lengths and the coast is in easy reach for those who tire of the hills. All in all a good property in a nice place.

Our family of 5 with older children (18, 16 and 13) enjoyed a fantastic week at Casa Jevanda. The villa has everything you need to self cater and the bedrooms are spacious with storage.
The villa feels very private and secluded although you can see other villas not too far away. We loved the large pool with a deep end for diving in. Another favourite spot was the shaded area overlooking the pool. The 2 fridges were always filled with cool drinks!
The drive to the villa involves some very windy roads- you do get used to it and the benefit is the high location with great views and secluded spot. Just but be aware that there is no local shop to quickly pop to, so be organised with your grocery shopping.
We had great days out to Granada (90 mins) and Ronda followed by an evening in Puerto Banus (a slightly longer drive but worth it). We also enjoyed the more local beaches in Torrox and Nerja, as well as exploring the local village of Competa.
Throughout the booking process the communication with Janet was prompt and friendly.
We would highly recommend this villa but advise that the mountainous area requires a car and confident driving.

We spent 10 nights at Casa Jevanda with our young family in July this year and we will definitely be returning again!
It’s such a lovely property and it was just what we were after - close to a town (short drive), has some nearby properties - but isn’t overlooked so yo have a great amount of privacy but don’t feel isolated.
The first thing you notice on arrival is the outside space which is well proportioned for the property and has some lovely spaces for getting out of the midday sun - needed when we were there as it was the beginning of a heatwave!
The pool was fantastic - a great size and worked really well for us - the kids spent the first couple of days on the large steps at the shallow end playing around until they got the confidence to launch themselves in properly, there were a few pool toys available at the property which had a lot of use. The 3 Parasols provided ample shade through the day with a bit of repositioning now and then. The property management company even came a couple of times to clean the pool too.
Inside the property - was great - I don’t think the pictures do it justice for the size. It was clean, and nice and light and airy. The bedrooms were all a good size and had comfortable beds and ceiling fans in each.
The kitchen was well stocked and equipped with everything needed to cook inside - with essentials in the cupboards - condiments, a few dried goods, dishwasher tablets etc.
There’s not enough space to leave more so 10/10!

We love this villa and it was a joy to go back finally. The views are even more spectacular then we remembered. The pool was a life saver with the heat. We didn’t want to leave there. Ultimate relaxation. Dishwasher was a fab addition. Loved the bbq. We will be back. Perfect escape if you need peace and quiet.

The house was absolutely perfect with a great pool, which the whole family loved. Spent a lot of time there as well as discovering just some of the many places nearby.

Travelled as a family of 4 plus grandparents and we all loved this relaxing retreat in the mountains. Villa is wonderfully equipped and cleaned to a high standard. We enjoyed using the barbecue and the plentiful seating areas on the patio with shade if required. Our favourite part of the villa was the pool enjoyed by the whole family and inflatables had been left for the children to play with. The views are stunning and sitting out under the stars at night was the most peaceful escapism you could wish for. Shame there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms as was very warm during the night but we did stay in the height of summer! Highly recommend the villa for those looking for pure relaxation. A car is needed as very remote and care should be taken with the mountain roads. A short drive from traditional village of Competa and half an hour to local beaches such as Torrox where we found restaurants etc. A wonderful holiday overall!!

Lovely villa and pool. Beautiful scenery and very, very peaceful. Nearby Competa is well worth a visit too. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Villa is also well equipped. The mountains in this area are also wonderful, plus spectacular star gazing opportunities after dark. Thanks to Janet for the polite comms and moving our reservation by a year due to covid.

We enjoyed the villa, this is the second time visiting, good size for four, plenty of room for another two people. Clean and tidy, great pool and was cleaned during our stay. Amazing views.

We visited the villa for a second time in one year. Fabulous location for mountain walking, visiting the coast and a short distance from Competa by car.
The villa’s terraces snd pool offer all round views plus different spaces to soak up the sun or retreat to the shade.
Good facilities in the villa with the advantage of a 5’ wide bed.
We’ll be back.

We enjoyed our time at Casa Jevanda. I would advise future residents to map the specific house location on Google Maps prior to arriving as it's a bit difficult to find the first time in (& definitely arrive in the daytime).

Had a great time. The location is great, and the outdoor area in particular is really well laid out and relaxing.

We stayed for almost 3 weeks and it was really worthy. The villa is as it is described and appears in the photos. It is very comfortable and has everything you need, including a new dishwasher that we “found” as a result of Janet's willingness to attend to our proposal to complete the kitchen as it seemed that it was the only thing missing in the house. The pool is great and large enough for a good swimming session. Carl maintains it in condition on a weekly basis. The communication with Janet has always been very close and I respond promptly to any questions. The environment is full of nature And quite close to the stunning natural park. If you like mountain biking there are great tracks to enjoy.

The villa exceeded all our expectations, it was clean, well equipped, easy to access, the pool was a great size we spent most of our time in it. The outside space was amazing, beautiful scenery, nice shaded areas. All you could wish for a villa holiday, barbecue was handy,
dishwasher and washing machine made life easier. Easy communication with the owners.
We would love to return.

We absolutely loved this villa and the entire region. So peaceful. The weather was just amazing as were the stars at night and listening to the goat herders and the goat's bells..:) Carl who was locally responsible was very helpful and friendly. David and Janet always returned a call and assisted whenever needed. So overall I would give this beautiful sanctuary 5 stars. However, two issues. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom sounds like a jet engine and definitely needs to be replaced. More importantly is the location. IF YOU RENT A CAR LIKE I DID THERE IS NO WAY TO UTILIZE THE GPS BECAUSE THERE IS NO REAL ADDRESS FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL VILLAS. This was very upsetting my first day on arrival because we had no idea how to get there and its a 45 min drive from the airport. Add being up for 30hrs and 3 flights from the Eastern US and it makes for frustration. FORTUNATELY CARL came through and met us and guided us to the villa which is truly rural. HOWEVER, once I was shown how to get there I was fine driving the rest of the week. So just be prepared to meet Carl in advance or have a different GPS system. Mine was an excellent tool since it was designed for Spain . Once I got my bearings I actually enjoyed driving the rural roads and we even found our way to the goat farm....eventually!! :) I would definitely stay here again!!! :):)

We found this viila easily enough to find as per the owners directions. The roads whilst high and winding weren't particularly difficult to use if you're not a nervous driver. You seldom pass anyone else. Compared to some of the roads we saw this villa had good access. The villa has lovely large rooms all maintained well. Excellent pool big enough for a swim. I love the fact you get a whopping 12 hours of sunshine in June, as the sun didn't set till after 8pm. Having said that there is plenty of shade by way of two verandas and parasols. My only moan is there not being a dishwasher. We didn't mind too much but some of the cups and cutlery wasn't clean due to someone not being thorough when they washed up. Hence then having to wash everything before we used it.Plenty of restaurants and shops a short easy drive away in Competa, we loved Oscars. Don't forget some shops close for a siesta 2pm-5pm. All in all we loved this part of spain and the villa was beautiful, we never got tired of the amazing views.

This is my second stay this year, we have been coming here since 2006 and never tire of this place it just feels very relaxed and comfortable. I mastered the driving here for the first time and its surprising how quickly you get used to the mountain roads. As always the villa is immaculately clean throughout and well maintained. Lots of extra toiletries available in both bathrooms including cotton buds, disposable razors, shampoos and conditioners. For those who like to cook again lots of basics already stocked in the kitchen including olive oil, stock cubes, honey, a selection of teas, fresh ground coffee, herbs and spices. There was even washing tablets for the washing machine, cling film and tin foil. For those with children there are a selection of toys for the pool and again like the kitchen and bathroom supplies, previous guests leave their purchases for others to enjoy. The king size bed here is really comfortable and the pillows are perfect leaving you to wake refreshed and free from back ache. Plug in mosquito deterrents were in all of the rooms and another extra touch of added value. Due to the Ryanair strike our holiday was delayed but even arriving on a Sunday, one of the supermarkets in Competa was open for basic supplies. We forgot our adaptors this year but there were some already here for us to charge the laptops and phones. The gym has moved from next to the swimming baths and is now a right turn at the seating area before the hairpin turn into Competa for those wanting to maintain good habits. The swimming pool in Competa is a fantastic size, cheap as chips and unlike my gym back home I have always managed to get a lane to myself. If you forgot the euro for a locker its not a problem most people leave their belongings on the benches in the communal changing area as I have done without issue. The gentle sound of the tinkling bells of the goats being herded is a delight as is watching them cross the mountain. No doubt we will be back again next year to recharge the batteries like nowhere else can.

Such a stunning location. The outlook form the pool, down to the sea and to the hills surrounding you is gorgeous. In the area around the villa there are many olive trees. There were also almond trees which we had never seen before, and such an exciting discovery for our children. Although a little steep, we loved going for a stroll in the late evenings. The area still feels unspoiled and there is a local goat herder that you can see in the mornings and evenings wandering the local hills. There is nothing better than a glass of wine on the patio watching him and his heard, just admiring the view. The villa had everything we needed, and what a welcome sight to find some ice pops in the freezer, and basic store cupboard ingredients such as salt olive oil and spices, washing up liquid, and left over shampoos and shower gels for us to make use of. It was nice to know these weren't just thrown out ( as I have seen in previous rentals) and a far more eco way of passing it forward. Indeed we left a new pack of Ice pops in the freezer, hoping the next visitors would enjoy them as much as we did after a hot drive to the property. Getting to the property was a little scary the first time, as I had not appreciated the road would be that windy for as far (about 30 minutes drive), but we soon got to know the area, and even the locals take it slow, so I wouldn't let it put anyone off.We went to the beach once, but enjoyed the villa so much, that we all preferred to stay by the pool. Competa is a charming town, and it is easy to park in the car park in the center. There is a fantastic ice cream parlor which became a very frequent treat. They also do great coffee, and even take away tubs of ice cream! It was interesting to note that other than the large bottles of water, the prices in the local supermarkets were the same as the large hypermarkets near the motorway, and fruit and vegetables were of better quality and price in the local grocers. I would recommend this gem to anyone. Our family loved it, and our 4 boys spent hours in the pool. I would say it would also be fantastic if you wanted a peaceful getaway as a group of adults.Just looking at the pictures makes me want to plan a return trip immediately!

The villa is quite remote, the journey to the villa is not a comfortable one, a very bumpy road indeed!. The villa could be better, it was quite basic, lacked a few extras for cooking etc. Cleanliness could have been better also, villas we have stayed in over the years have always had a towel/bed change on second week. There was no information on arrival, it could do with a basic booklet on how to operate the TV etc. No real information on what is available locally, such as shop opening times, best places to shop, eat etc. There was a folder with activities such as horse riding but not much else. Nothing on the local area. Gleaned some information from the visitors book which we stumbled upon. The pool could have done with a clean, as there is no cover when it is windy everything blows in, although the filter does clear it, whenever we went in the pool a lot of dirt was mixed up from the bottom which took time to clear. Not all bad, the views are fantastic but a warning on the journey to it may have influenced our decision on staying there.

We’ve had one of THE most relaxing and peaceful holidays in this wonderful retreat. This is a place that we would not hesitate to recommend on to others. The villa itself is perfectly laid out and very well equipped. Lots of storage and plenty of space to live in. Outside, the pool/patio area is immense with plenty of options to sit in or out of the sun in comfort. Being up in the hills you also get a cool breeze most of the time. The pool itself is a great size; by no means a token effort.Didn’t tire of the views; the property faces the hills and the sea beyond. A very liberating feeling. The open plan kitchen was lovely and there is a great BBQ which we used regularly but if you fancy a short drive to Cómpeta (5-10 mins) there are great bars and restaurants. Some lovely small shops too.During our stay we visited Granada and the Alhambra (book tickets online well in advance; entry approx €14 pp. If not you’re booking a guided tour!!). It’s a straightforward journey, approx 90 mins. More than worth the effort.Cómpeta has all you need but a trip to the hypermarket en route from Malaga airport was perfect to get some essentials.Day to day we loved to wildlife watch; birds and butterflies were amazing. We also enjoyed the daily comings and goings of the local goat herder and his flock! All in all, there were no negatives for us. I think the only reasons there aren’t more reviews for this property is because people keep returning; something we intend to do too! Thanks to Carl for taking care of the pool (quietly and efficiently!) and special thanks to Janet and David for their help and warm welcome. We hope to be in touch soon...:)
