Arriving to a property that has not been cleaned is not positive.

the property was ideal and comfortable.

On arrival the property hadn’t been cleaned. Beds unmade, bathrooms dirty, kitchen dirty. We had to search for bedding and make our own beds. Took ages to get a response from Cottages.com and when we did they weren’t able to send anyone out until following day. This is the second time this has happened to me. It’s simply unacceptable. The complaints department were very polite once I got hold of them and I got financially compensated but I’d rather arrive to a clean holiday let. I won’t be using cottages.com or Hoseasons again.

Great.

Very happy with the location, garden, views over Ambleside, size of property, amount of bathrooms, warm and all round presentation. Great stay had by all of party. We would definitely book again.

Nothing. Compared to others we have stayed in (in Ambleside) , this one is the best.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness and standard of the furnishings. We felt very welcomed.

The welcome gift from the owner reflecting a personal touch and feedback is encouraged. We loved the feeling of the cottage a lot of thought had gone into the layout, furnishings and the comfort aspect for guests and pets. Our dog was very settled there. There was everything you needed in the kitchen to cook a full family meal again utensils to a high standard. The 2 separate lounges were an asset as it allowed some of the party to spread out particularly as we spent a lot of time indoors due to the weather. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage and have already recommended to friends.

Nothing really as we felt we had everything we needed especially as the weather was foul and we had to stay in a lot.

Had a great time, just wish we were there longer.

Beautiful house in a great location. The views were superb and the garden great for the Dog. Loved the way the bedrooms were split over the floors.

The heating was a little hard to work out.

Nice cottage, shame about the property management company.

Location and the house was as described. Can't fault the house... clean rooms, spacious, beds comfortable and shower was good along with heated bathroom floor. Just the management of it let's it down.

It was obvious on arrival that the 1st floor and second floor toilets wouldn't flush. Luckily we didn't need the 2nd floor en suite but as we had a family member using the lower ground floor en suite, so that wasn't an option for everyone to use for the duration of the stay. On inspection of the main bathroom toilet it was obvious the mechanism inside the cistern had snapped, and hadn't just became unhooked. This should have been obvious to the cleaners / property management company from the last guests to use the cottage... Having reported the fault to Windermere Cottages on the morning of our 1st full day (and having had to flush the toilet with a kitchen pan which isn't the most hygienic!) We were told someone would be out that morning to fix it so assumed all would be fine later that day. We left for our wedding at around 1pm and nobody showed that day or left a note to say they'd been but needed to.order parts.... ...so we were left flushing our toilet manually through the stay. Not what you expect to have to do for a >£100 a night cottage. To add insult to injury the mince pies left for us on arrival were out of date by nearly 2 weeks and there were no matches in the property to light the wood burner fires. Minor points really and had the toilet been fine then wouldn't have raised them...but it shows a lack of attention to detail which needs improved for other guests.

Wonderful find

The location was excellent. A family of 3 couples spread over 4 floors, we each had a bedroom on a separate floor with our own loos which was perfect. Lovely Christmas mince pies and bubbles waiting for us on arrival. Garden was good size, very dog friendly property and views were amazing. Pub around the corner and just down the hill to Ambleside. It’s steep on the way up but needed to work off all the beer :)
