Very good value, off the beaten-path and away from the crowds and tourists. Scenic grounds with beautiful gardens and trees, artistic touches everywhere and bikes to rent. Exceptional breakfast not included but only $3/person made up of fruit grown on the premises.
Thought it would be cooler so we wouldn't miss having an air conditioner, evenings cooled off late at night. It would be tough to hang out during the day but we were also there during the hot and rainy season. Since it's remote, transportation can be an issue but we hopped on a $1 bus almost immediately to get to town.

The stuff with a friendly and helpful. We received a welcome drink and we were shown around the property which was very interesting and crafty. We enjoyed the hammocks outside of the room and spent a nice evening in the port town which we got a public bus to from the property. This was easier than we expected
This can't be helped by the property but there were lots of mosquitoes and this made the stay slightly uncomfortable

The people who run the hostel are very nice and helpful. This is a safe and very welcoming place offering a very nice breakfast.
The location is far away from Puerto Ayora, around 15 min by bus or 2h walking. There is a lot of dampness in this part of the island and you can feel it in the building.

Very friendly staff
There are many creepy crawlers around the property, and we woke up in the morning to at least 50 of them inside the room. We were asked to leave our shoes outside which meant we kept stepping on them with bare feet which was pretty yucky.

Welcoming, kind hosts who make you feel at home.
Great food if you choose to have breakfast for extra charge (they gave me a free welcome meal on my first day).
Large, quiet, comfortable en suite room.
It's in a very rural location so it gives you a taste of life in a different part of the island, eg the hosts grew their own bananas outside.
I enjoyed my stay with them.
- The location was a 10-15 minute drive from Puerto Ayora and after 9pm the buses stop so you need to pay a taxi if out late ($5).
- Some small (harmless) worms crawled under the door sometimes when it rained. This didn't bother me but it might bother some people.

The chef luiz cooked a really nice dinner, the pickup from the port was spot on, All very friendly
A little bit out of the way (nothing nearby), and pretty basic.

The best thing to stay with Luis in the "Good living" (that's what Sumak Kawsay means translated from Quechua) ist to stay with Luis and his family. We had such a warm welcoming and felt far away from all the tourism on the islands. If you are looking for a place to stay which is very special, go there. You will have to take the bus or taxi to get to Puerto Ayora where all the other tourists are and where you can eat/ take the ferries/ go to the beaches - but the location is not at all negative, for us it was one of the best things about the hotel! You are so close to life on Galapagos and far from just being another tourist. Luis cooked for us and hell it was so amazing. The best food we got on our whole trip and the peanut-banana-fish-soup was definetly one of the best soups of our life. Enjoy staying with them, we will always remember our 4 nights!

Very clean and in beautiful rural location, but easy to access via bus or taxi.
Welcome fruit juice. In the room there was a 4 litre bottle of water, which was very generous (and useful). Food offered by no pressure to buy. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, who helped with tickets etc for onward travel.
It’s a bit far from the town - but, as said above, easy to get to and from by bus or taxi. I tended to walk to Puerto Ayora (downhill!) and get a bus back for $1.

Kind helpful people.
It's in the middle of no where and far from anything. Very noisy around 4am from barking dogs and it's surrounded by Cockerells that begin crowing continually from around 5am. Ok for one night but I won't be going back on my return.

Spotless large room cleaned daily. Good bed. Transport to Puerto aora half hourly or less $1 each way. Wifi typical for Galapagos. Exc value.
Neighbors roosters in the morning.

Very helpful owners, I asked and they made me a lunch. For extra money you can have good breakfast and dinner also.
Thin walls, far from Puerto Ayorta.

Very difficult to access. Road of mud
Lot of insects getting in all days and nights

The atmosphere, the host, very clean and comfortable.
Amazing value for money.
Everything was perfect. Even though it is not in the “prime” location, it’s very easy to come and go there.

First of all the family running this are absolutely amazing and go out of their way to help. The lady even walked me to the bus stop and waited with me. The room is very clean with all necessities. They are very helpful in explaining activities around and even rent bikes for $2 an hour (reasonable for this part of Galapogos). There is an option to pay $10 for dinner which I recommend as it is close to 5* - some of the best fish I’ve ever had! The family is all round amazing - offering free refreshments after my long cycle.
It is located in the centre of the Island where the weather is not too great. However they offer an efficient taxi service or public bus to get around. It’s a good location to see the tortoise ranch and lava tunnels.

Louis and the family were the most welcoming and friendly people. They have a beautiful place in the countryside - if you like tortugas you must go!
There is nothing I didn’t like. It is far from Puerto Ayora but the bus leaves all the time.

Set out in a beautiful area, out in nature. The room is very quiet and tastefully decorated.
Times have been difficult during and post Covid. The host, to me, although very hospitable, was overly assertive in pursuing getting extra money from me. He charged $40.00 per person for 2 1/2 hours driving two guests to 3 places. I learned later that the going rate is $40.00 per car load divided by the people in the car for the same amount of time or more.
Also, the facility is quite far from town. There is a bus stop 10 minutes away to take one into town.

The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and was comfortable. I can not say enough good things about them. Rooms were clean and cozy. Hot shower.
Quite far from town. I thought I would save money by staying here but in the end it cost more because you have to take a $5 taxi or $1 bus every time you come and go.

Very friendly owners. They welcomed us with a fresh made juice. It felt like home. Dinner and breakfast was amazing. The best food we had in Galapagos. Wish we could have stayed longer. I would recommend it!
Nothing actually, just maybe the slow wifi. But it seems to be a general problem in Galapagos.

We had an amazing stay here! Alex, Luis, and Rosa were all extremely friendly and helped us book great day trips. The food was also delicious and we felt super comfortable while here.

Incredible experience staying with Luis and his wife at Sumak Kawsay.
We were gifted freshly made fruit juice (passion fruit from their trees) plus bananas on arrival. We were kindly collected from port/town and Luis took us the next day to the ferry to baltra for our flights, all for such reasonable prices. This made our stay so easeful!
Beautiful space with lush gardens and jungle surrounds, nice and quiet.
Luis shared some of his life story with us and was just so very generous, considerate and genuine. He also made us breakfast and as an international chef you can bet it was delicious!!
Would def return here!
Not an issue for us but perhaps good to know for others is that it's quite far from the port/town. As I said though they provide transport and cook excellent food.

I liked the homely, rural and traditional atmosphere in the hotel and the lot of green pmants in tje yard, as well as the privacy in my room.
Transportation is a bit problem given the location. But that is compensated by having more privacy and being in a quite and peacefull place. And by having really lot of space! Communication in English was a bit problem but tje owner and his family are really nice people.

The meals, prepared by a once professional chef. The vegetation (it's a cottage surrounded by all kinds of tropical plants and trees). The host who explained what those plants could do, since he lived in the Amazon forest and learned from the indigenouspeople there. Their pets, a cat and a puppy, super friendly. The cottage was huge and spotless clean.
No wifi, but the host did our research and called everyone we needed (tour operator and taxi) from his phone

I loved how friendly the family was, the room was very comfortable and clean. You can easily get a 1 dollar taxi to puerto ayora. The breakfast was delicious and big portions. No wifi or service but I expected it so I don’t complain :)

Despite the fact the property isn’t in the center of the island, it isn’t far away and also the place can give you a real clue of how life is in the island. Wonderful and peaceful place.
The energy that you feel when you are there Was what we loved. You can feel part of it. Nonetheless, more than the facilities, the owners are excellent and friendly people. If you let them, they will do everything that is posible to you to have the best experience ever.
