Location + outstanding service

Everything about this location was a bonus.. the room, I received an upgrade, the team was outstanding and made me feel appreciated and welcome. I truly enjoyed the extra care and support.

A little loud but not a problem from the adjacent property offering late night music. I was not expecting the noise, but now I know that if I want to be in the happening zone, this is it!

Parties during Holy Week were loud. Bring headphones if you want to get any sleep

The location Front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly.

The bar and dining room staff were very unfriendly and rude.

Clean rooms, attentive staff and direct beach access.

Located on the beach. Great management / staff team.

Some Rooms too close to onsite bar and performance stage which was super loud at night and I couldn’t sleep. 🫤

Beautiful Room and Ocean View! Clean and friendly 😊

We had a beautiful stay. The owners are very nice and helpful. I loved our room that looked out on the beach and was steps from it (King Suite, Ocean View) . The bed was firm and very comfortable, the pillows were nice - not too flat, not too puffy. The view was amazing, and we could see the sunset from our bed. The room was spacious with a great bathroom with a wonderful separate shower that is a rain shower square and a handheld in the shower and there was also a tub with jets and a personal sprayer. We didn't use the tub, but it looked amazing. I also liked the little kitchen, though we didn't cook in the room on the two day stay. Just used the refrigerator to keep drinks cold. They had all the pots and pans, mugs and bowls and plates, silverware and utensils. I think I could have cooked in there, if I brought all the food with me. I didn't see any spices at all. They had nice beach towels, though we didn't use them because basically our room was on the beach, plus I didn't want them to get stolen if I left them out, plus we could just walk to our room out of the water. Our room came with the included breakfast, and they were yummy -- I had the Vegan Traditional Jamaican Breakfast both days and my boyfriend had the Traditional Jamaican Breakfast but was basically the same as mine, because they didn't have the ackee and saltfish. The food is cooked to order, so if you are looking for quick fast food, it may take a bit and cause you to get upset that you have to wait. This property is right in the middle of lots of other great properties with bars and restaurants nearby. We walked up to the street and had dinner at a small restaurant across the main street and a bit up to the right. Not far and good food. $2,600 Jamaican with no alcohol - just food.

I recommend getting some signage of where the office is for Roots Cafe vs Roots Bamboo. Both are in the same driveway, but it isn't clear where to go once you park or if we were even in the right place. Staff was friendly but the bartender I had could only make the drinks on the menu. She did improvise for me once I seemed a little confused, but she said "No" first. The same thing happened when I asked for bacon at the free breakfast, that waitress said "no" because it didn't come with the specific breakfast I chose. But then I said I would pay for it, but I was never given a price until the meal was over of $775 Jamaican for 2 pieces of bacon. I will say, the waitress ended up paying for it, but didn’t tell me, and at the end of our stay, when I tipped her for breakfast and asked about paying for the bacon, she told me it was taken care of, so I gave her extra tip. It would be helpful for them to have prices for any additions a guest with an included breakfast may order. Our room didn't have any glasses, which I found weird. I assumed they get broken often and you probably have to ask for them, but we just used the mugs for our drinks. I loved being on the beach, but if you are a person who needs sleep on the weekday nights and some weekend nights, I don't recommend having the rooms right on the water or close to the water because there is music playing from Woodstock next door and some nights at Roots itself. I felt like I didn't sleep until 3-4 AM and it is like they are in your room. I am not a spring chicken dancing until dawn, so this was hard for me to not get good sleep.

My new little retreat

I absolutely loved the staff they were so accommodating. When we arrived ( at night) the electricity had gone in the whole negril area. The staff ensured that me and the kids were ok and forfilled our requests and ensured we were well.taken care of throughout our stay!

Loud music from the next room at 6am, but that was dealt with promptly. Tourists seemed to forget that there other people staying in the hotel

The initial warm and welcoming reception and offer of a quality service from the roots bamboo representative (Ravel). The location and beautiful beach. Flag City was a few yards away The option of other restaurants and cafes

We had dinner at roots cafe on the first evening and it was so awful we did not risk eating breakfast there. Instead we walked down the beach to another establishment for breakfast. The breakfast at Idle Awhile was excellent. The initial greeting at reception by the Roots Bamboo representative (Ravel) was welcoming, professional and made us feel we had arrived home. When it was clear that we had booked online we were advised to go to the roots cafe reception. The experience was substandard and unprofessional. The room we were received in was a disorganised mess. Other guests were spoken of in a derogatory manner. The bedding was old an worn. The property is used as a thoroughfare for beach vendors and shady looking people which made us feel insecure and very unsafe. The establishment needs an overhaul with new management and a full programme of staff training. Booking.com should experience venues personally prior to giving them a rating eg Mystery shopping.

Great location, needs better service and upgrade

On the beachfront, great location Some staff tried to be helpful but seemed to be understaffed Good live entertainment (though loud and into wee hours) Upgrade and building works so in a few years, may be great In the right place if you like a muisc hub as everyone knows the venue

Music very loud, thin walls so heard into wee hours No security so anyone could walk in Took ages to get simple things like beach towels, toilet rolls...just waiting Understaffed - but so many people hanging around, no uniform so dont know who is who, plus when events on, the toilets are mid hotel so people were coming through where the huts were. TV didn't work the whole time, told them (loud music was the background anyway) Wifi only available at reception and restuarant not in room/hut Shower - hardly any water a couple of days (needed when been at beach all day)

An amazing experience on the famous 7 mile Beach in Negril. Fantastic sunrises and sunset.

Breakfast was great with an unrivaled view of the sea. Like a postcard. Hard to beat.Was able to have my dietary needs accommodated. Nice friendly staff.

Understand things werenjust opening after the restrictions of covid, so a little tlc of property needed. Host upgraded us to premier at original price, which meant that our accommodation was right on the beach, could not get any closer. An amazing location on the 7 mile Beach in Negril. Friendly and accommodating Host. Only draw back if you do this is that youiu will be next to the stage and any music playing

Great Beach!

The waitress at the Roots Bamboo Bar was very helpful but when you book from Booking.com they will have the office staff directing you to other people to help you (like point you to the kitchen area and hope there is someone around there to help you, the office staff won't help you). But this location has it's own private beach and with lots of sun lounger chairs. I also liked that there was a big fan and a working air conditioner in the room! Minimal mosquitos! There was also a small balcony you can have your morning coffee in, which was nice!

The Ox tail stew is one of the best items on the menu but be prepared to wait almost an hour or so for food. Every time we ate there food took a very long time to come but you've got the beach and some shopping stalls on the beach to keep you busy while you wait. The friendly waitress at the Bar is also a housekeeper so she will help you with any of your concerns. If you have young children and require them to sleep early I wouldn't recommend this place. There are bars surrounding this location and they have VERY loud music until late at night and you cannot really block out the music. Ear plugs may help and if you're sensitive to morning sunlight, I'd recommend you bring a blindfold for the mornings unless you like being woken up by the sun. Just be aware of what you booked; it's not the Hilton but it's more like a boutique beach front property.

The location was perfect, friendly staff and great music on Monday and Wednesday evenings. I loved the Sea view cabin that I stayed in right on the beach. Stunning, I heard the sea lapping the beach as i drifted to sleep.

All was good, just the wifi was not great.
