Conch Villas was constructed in 1986 using rare Brazilian hardwoods, which are maintained inside Convivare. The siding and interior walls are made of IPE (green heart) from the Para province, just south of the Amazon Delta, from a Brazilian exporter in Belem using wood from enviromentally friendly cutters. The shutters are made of JATOBA a wood even stronger than IPE and is mainly used as floor boards in Brazil. The shutters were prefabricated at a factory in BELEM. The hardware of unique Brazilian design, hinges etc. was also fitted in Belem. Some shutters were repaired with mahogany after Irma. The stonework includes numerous conch shells cemented into the walls: it is after all Conch Villas! Impromptu visits by peacocks and goats can be expected. The outdoor Conch Villas security camera is above the porch and monitors the common walkway up into the grounds. The name “Convivare” comes from the original owner of Conch Villas. They installed a plaque on the front door that carries the legend “Si non convivare noli tintinnare,” which is an Italian / Latin folk phrase meaning roughly “If you do not want to come in and feast with us, don’t ring the bell." I stayed here for several weeks on a work trip. The property was clean, and when there was an issue with the neighbors above the owners were very prompt with responding and fixing the damage. I would recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful stay at this sweet condo.
It was perfect for two people.
When we arrived we were picked up at the ferry, and dropped off again when we left for home.
So we had no need for a car at all.
There is a screened in porch and we spent a lot of time there having coffee, reading, and watching the car ferries go back and forth.
The apartment has many windows and we kept them open and had the fans running, so no need for air conditioning.
Only problem is that sometimes the ferries make noise early in the morning and wake you up if the windows are open. There are also roosters running wild and they wake you up but we didn't mind that. It was actually really nice.
The walk to town, where all the restaurants, shops and bus taxis are, is about 15 minutes. We didn't mind the walk because it gave us some exercise. There is one steep hill to walk up, but it is short. It can be too much for older people but then you can take a little bit longer route which is easier. Be aware also that there are some difficult steps up to the apartment, which could be a problem for people who have trouble walking. The apartment had everything we could possibly need. Would not mind going back.
Met lots of interesting nice people and made lovely memories:) Most of all we felt safe at all times. Stunning island.

We were met at the ferry by a really nice person from the villa making check in seamless.
Our questions were answered promptly before and during our trip.
The villa itself is very homey and affordable. We enjoyed having beach chairs and snorkel equipment right there.
Proximity to Cruz Bay was nice. Walking to dinner is possible, however, be sure to note that St John is very hilly, so you might want to use the car if you're not up to some serious inclines. Another plus for this rental is dedicated parking.

Great time again in St John. The condo was great and as advertised. We really appreciated Kelly and her communication and dock side greeting and ride to the condo on the first day.

This property is old, grubby and dark. Please ask the owner to replace the bed pillows- housekeeping came as we were checking out and removed the pillow cases in prep for laundry, and I was appalled at how yellow and stained they were. I was afraid to check out the mattress. The extra amenities, such as beach chairs, cooler, flippers etc. were broken or falling apart. The place felt dark and depressing and everything seemed old and shabby. The shower door was water and soap stained and did not appear to have been cleaned in a while. Looking through bath cabinets to find hair dryer meant sorting through all sorts of old lotion bottles and other detritus. The place needs a thorough dejunking and cleaning and upgrading. Condiments in fridge are of indeterminable age.

This condo is the perfect location if you want to walk to Cruz Bay or the grocery store. Both less than 1/2 mile. Of course, there are a couple VERY steep hills so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the place for you. Entrance to condo also has steep stairs. We welcomed the exercise though and walked to town everyday. We appreciated the pantry items left which included coffee. The kitchen had everything we needed when we did decide to cook. There were plenty of bath and beach towels, chairs, snorkeling gear, even sunblock. Each morning we watched the sunrise while sitting on the porch. We loved visiting with all the neighborhood cats, roosters, and hens too. We enjoyed the location of this condo and would definitely stay again.

Meet up with the contract went smoothly. Picked us up from the ferry. Explained the best way to get to town.
It is not a long walk into town and we felt safe walking.
Enjoyed the stay at the house and our trip to st.john would definitely recommend.
My one negative is the lack of TV options, so I would recommend to bring a fire stick, or Roku stick. Also the TV volume seemed low if the ac was going on.
Not that we watched a lot of TV as we spent all day at the beaches.

We most enjoyed sitting on the sun porch with our coffee in the mornings and in the evenings after a busy day. The management was very helpful with local information.

This property was wonderful and convenient. Very well maintained, loved the beautiful hard wood, and the stone wall in one area that added character to the interior. It is in a quiet area and within walking distance to the grocery store and down town. We felt safe walking around. It is fully equipped with everything you should need. They made sure that we would have our morning coffee without rushing out to the grocery store on arrival. Plenty of coffee & creamers. Check the fridge and food cupboards before you go to the grocery store, you will be surprised by everything they contain. Plenty of lovely soft towels, including those for the beach. Having breakfast in the SCREENED porch looking out over the ocean was very special, we spent alot of time relaxing there. Rained one day but the sunroom was nice to sit in and watch the rain while we relaxed.
Kelley & George thought of everything that made our stay unforgettable, including having someone pick us up at the ferry. Questions were responded to quickly. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
PS: There is a free parking space for your car next to the steps to your vacation home.

Calming interior and lovely vista! Nice having the option of fast but steep route or the longer but moderate hill back into town. Very nice having fans and AC option. Everything very clean. Fun books and maps on shelves. Great layout, and plenty of towels and cooking implements. Would highly recommend!

Quaint and Convenient to Cruz Bay
Our villa had everything we needed - towels, beach chairs, tv, comfortable bed. The hills of St. John are a real exercise promoter. The convenience to Cruz Bay and Starfish Market is great. Management communicated well and we enjoyed our visit in this quaint villa.

Staying at the Convivare was an amazing experience!
A beautiful sun room overlooking the ocean makes for a totally tranquil start of the day…
The interior is well-maintained, with a charming decor (dark wood with turquoise accents), and a nice kitchen.
The unit even provides snorkeling gear and other accessories to make your day trips to the beach more enjoyable.
There are so many magical moments to be had in St John, from snorkeling to visiting ruins, but staying here was among the best of all our experiences!

Loved staying here! Just a short walk into town - there is a slight hill but that’s to be expected in St. John. Clean, cute, good location, and had everything we needed.

Beautiful place, amazing location!
My fiance and I absolutely loved this place! It was clean, well equipped, large, and we particularly loved the wood interior and view! Its right in town so you can walk to dinner and drinks (and breakfast!) every day, and the location is not too steep for sedan. Kelly was an excellent host and met us when we arrived to show us around the condo. I definitely hope to visit again someday!

Service went above and beyond.
Getting up on in the morning to a nice ocean view was amazing. Especially because we had a nightmare travel day before due to snow storms. Kelly, the property manger, truly went above and beyond to meet us for a very late check in, and gave us a great overview of the property. Easy walk to Cruz bay. I’ve stayed in STJ many times and know it would be difficult to find a clean, comfortable place like this with everything you need in this location for this price. Book it!

Perfect spot to enjoy Cruz Bay area
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to St. John and our stay at the Conch Villa. We spent 4 nights there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The spot is close enough to Cruz Bay to walk with a few hills but not too bad at all. There is a great little bar on the walk towards the roundabout that had the coldest beer on the island, we stopped there a few times while we were out and about and its a little bit of a local spot and a great place to visit. I think it was called the hillside, it overlooks the tennis court by the car ferry lot. We didn't rent a car so we walked all over which was a great way to get around. You can walk to Cruz Bay and catch a cab anywhere you need to go. The nightlife in Cruz Bay was fun too, we don't usually get to partake in a lot of later night activities due to traveling with our kids but we were all alone on this trip so it was fun to be able to stay out later and enjoy the music and people watching. The villa is in a nice little neighborhood with a lot of other homes where people live full time, we met some nice neighbors when we walked around in the mornings. The villa was just what we needed, we bought a few groceries at Dolphin Market so we could prepare sandwiches for the beach or cook breakfast and enjoy on the screened in porch while we watched the car ferry come and go. I would absolutely stay here again, would be happy to bring our kids too as there is a pull out couch that could accommodate them. George and Kelly were responsive to any questions or concerns we had and Kelly had some good local info on the drive to the villa regarding where to get food or a good meal out. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Excellent Cruz Bay trip
We really enjoyed staying in Conch villa. The location is far enough from the center to be quiet but close enough to be walkable. Its a neat place and the owner & mgr were very good to us. Hope to go back next year.

New Years in St John
The condo was cute and as described in the listing. The kitchen was well equipped but we only used it to make coffee and sandwiches and ate out or picked up food for most meals. There were some nice touches like shampoo, conditioner, soap, paper towels, coffee, and some condiments. The beach chairs were very nice. The cooler was a six pack playmate type. The snorkel gear wasn't in great shape so we rented our own in town for a very reasonable price for the entire time we were there. The air conditioners worked very well to cool everything off after we returned for the day which was helpful for sleeping. We enjoyed the sitting area facing the water view. This is a first floor unit so we did experience noise from the people above us when they walked around or moved furniture above us. Fortunately, that usually stopped about the time we were ready to go to sleep. We walked to dinner every night and it was less than a 10 minute walk. We chose to take the shortcut up and down the steep hill which saved about 5 minutes. Be aware that the first half of the walk is through a slightly industrial area as you pass the car ferry dock. It could be a bit intimidating if you don't know that St. John has a reputation for being a safe island. I personally wouldn't make the walk at night alone but with two of us it was fine. We definitely enjoyed the stay.

Perfect get away!
This place is perfect to get away and relax. Everything you could possibly need is at this property and the ocean view from the porch is amazing. Waking up to the sound of the surf everyday was a plus. Easy access to town and safari taxis to northern beaches. George and Kelly were very responsive to questions. I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Getaway for Two
My husband and I went on our honeymoon in St. John and stayed here. The condo was well furnished with all the essentials we needed, it was clean, safe, and convenient to town. The Dolphin Market was an easy walk on our way to beaches and on the way home as needed. Getting to the taxi stand to access North Shore beaches was a quick 10-15 minute walk. The chairs and snorkel gear provided was really helpful. Kelly helped us get settled and answered any question we had about the place and even St. John. We highly recommend this condo for your stay in Cruz Bay!

Great place, great location, great vacation
We had a wonderful week at this lovely 1 bedroom place located in a quiet part of town. Easy access to groceries, restaurants, and taxis/ferries. The kitchen is fully equipped and much roomier than we expected. The porch had a nice ocean view - a peaceful place to eat meals. Kelly was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the stay. We are looking forward to returning one day soon.

The property manager, Kelley, was very nice and help full. We forgot to print out the instructions for getting from the ferry to the property. Kelly stayed on the phone with us and guided us all the way. Property is very accurately represented by the website photos. Very clean and comfortable, nice breezes and view. Easy walk into town. The people of St. John have done a wonderful job of rebuilding and are friendly and welcoming.

This place was perfect for us! I am very happy with our decision to rent the condo as opposed to a hotel room - Kelly was amazing and met us at the ferry terminal when we arrived and drove us to the condo, she even gave us her cell number so we could ask questions throughout our stay. Highly recommend staying here.

Charming & Convenient
We needed to find a place for a couple of days and were lucky to find this little gem on very short notice. The owner George went out of his way to accommodate our booking and we were very happy with our short stay. Kelly was an absolute pleasure to work with. She picked us up at the ferry dock and helped us get settled in. She also went out of her way to work with us on our departure day. Thank you Kelly! The location is perfect with everything just a few minutes walk distance away. We really enjoyed our stay here in this cozy home and only regret that we couldn't stay longer.

Beautiful place in a great location
We stayed here for 4 days (3 nights) and had a blast! The place is beautiful and the views are awesome. It's a short walk to town which was great because we didn't rent a jeep and we couldn't find a place to rent a jeep for just a day. (I recommend renting a Jeep if you will be there for several days-- I would've liked to explore the island a bit more) There are steep hills so we certainly got our exercise. We LOVED the sunset by the art gallery which is a neat, short walk and that ended up being our preferred way to walk to town. We enjoyed the Lind Point hiking trail that took us to Honeymoon beach one day and another we took taxis and went to Trunk Bay (early in the morning was great!), then Cinnamon Bay and finally Maho Beach. Maho had the best snorkeling as we got to see sea turtles! We were able to get groceries in town and eat breakfast and lunch on our own and then dinner out. We loved having all the windows open and enjoyed the beautiful breeze. You can hear the ocean waves... and you can also hear the roosters in the morning so you may want to bring some ear plugs unless you like to get up at the crack of dawn. I think there were a couple roosters having a competition when we were there! haha! You will love this place! Thank you so much Kelly for picking us up and giving us recommendations.
