Great staff. Is a beautiful hotel in the middle point of Antigua. They helped us with the transportation from Ciudad de Guatemala with a great cars, lovely drivers and fair prices.
7.0
Beautiful hotel and great location.
The no A/C was really rough. The only windows face the courtyard so everyone looks in as they walk by. The city is also very loud and you hear every bit of it.

This hotel exceeded everything I was hoping for! The location was perfect and central to everything. What made our stay special was the staff and the attention we received during our stay. The interior of the hotel was beautiful. Highly recommend staying here!

The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was incredible!

I loved absolutely everything about this property. It was exactly as described but even more beautiful and special. The use of the two interior courtyards as focal points was beautiful, with fountains, flowers and lovely seating areas. The room itself had everything I needed and was so tastefully furnished. The challenge of having rooms on the courtyard is that there is not cross-ventilation but having a fan and screens for the upper windows to the courtyard made ventilation very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic, fresh, quick and with extremely friendly service. The location can't be beat. My only regret is that I could not stay longer! I will be back and will recommend this gem over and over.

The location and shared spaces are great.
We reserved a suite, the reservation said the room had a private balcony, a sitting area, fireplace, the images of the room looked spacious. We’ve stayed there many times before and their rooms are great. when we got there staff told us we had booked the last room, not true. we booked many months in advance and there were rooms left bc we told another friend to book there. regardless the room given to us was not what we paid for or booked. The room was tiny, so small I stubbed my toe three times on the bed going into the bathroom. we had no sitting area and we definitely did not have a private balcony. when I spoke to the staff they mentioned that this was the last room and had a “it is what it is attitude”. we feel taken advantage of and will definitely never return to this property.

People having breakfast in front of our room while we were sleeping. They should have a breakfast room.

You can't get a better location in the city of Antigua Guatemala. The breakfast was amongst the best I've ever had. It's one of those breakfast you will Remember. Initially I tried to book El Convento for the first night of my stay in Antigua and it was unavailable. I only booked San Rafael As a default. We were so upset when we had to leave and check into El Convento which I would give a zero out of 10 as they are nowhere near the luxury hotel that they claim they are. Nothing worked, mildew all over the tiles in the bathroom and they have a bunch of kids managing the place. Entire seating areas were left unattended with pillows laying on the floor garbage on the table and leaves on the sofas that hadn't been cleaned up from a windy morning. The mini bar had been ripped out of one of our rooms And they just made no mention of it and just left it that way. They must've run out of face towels so we had nothing to wash our face with. There was a bug about the size of a quarter that someone smashed against the wall and it was just left there. It honestly was one of the worst experience I've ever had. I think it stems from the fact that there is not an on-site manager going from room to room or seating area to seating area managing quality control. There is only one manager and they are basically sitting at the desk at reception and they look like kids who have never had any proper training. San Rafael is a place you will not be disappointed with. It will meet and exceed everyone of your expectations. Everything is clean and orderly and high and down to beautiful carpets from the Middle East an amazing artwork and landscape. Two thumbs up to the management and the owners who put that hotel together they should be very proud. Thank you again and if we ever return to Antigua we will most definitely book San Rafael. In fact I won't return to Antigua unless I can stay at San Rafael!
Nothing could've been better.

Breakfast and location were both excellent. Incredibly kind and helpful staff.
The only thing that could have made this stay better is if there had been a restaurant on the premises.

Excellent location. Staff was very attentive to our needs. Great design. Breakfast was delicious. We had a great time. We loved it the hotel was not crowed like others. Thank you to all the staff!
Maybe a little noisy. My mom stayed in room 7. And could hear the neighbors next to her room (guest house) every night.

Location was great. Bed was huge and very nice.
I was quoted $180, but ended up paying $223 -- assuming this was just additional fees

Breakfast was good, lots of options. The rooms are a little dark becase not many windows, but there were lamps so its ok. It is really quiet and peaceful and the beds were really comfortable! It is my favorite place to stay in Antigua.
They used to have a really good restaurant but don't anymore. The only thing they offer is breakfast now. It would be nice if at least there was a simple menu throughout the day, especially if you don't want to go out at night if its raining.

This hotel's location is within walking distance to many beautiful parts of Antigua. Our room was large and comfortable. We enjoyed the garden area daily and there were many sitting areas throughout. The temperature was comfortable inside the compound even when it was hot outside, which made it even more of a relaxing sanctuary. Also, even though the hotel is in the middle of the action, it was QUIET! Also, the complimentary breakfast options were delicious. On a practical note, the hotel arranged for COVID testing (required to fly back to the US) right at the hotel at the same cost it was to go to a facility and they also arranged a ride to the airport.

Simply amazing stay. Extremely beautiful courtyard that was very relaxing. Rooms are spacious and well decorated.
Great location.

No alcohol available for purchase but there is a wine bar around the corner that sells discounted bottles to go. Plenty of bars in the area.
