Wir haben die Wohnung schon zum 2. Mal gebucht und uns auch diesmal wieder sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist bestens ausgestattet, das Bad geschmackvoll, die hochwertige Küche mit der Kochinsel ist ein Traum und die Lage direkt am See haben wir sehr genossen und waren jeden Tag zum Baden im See. Dass wir alles an Bettwäsche und Handtüchern mitbringen mussten, war für uns kein Problem. Und der Blick auf den See vom Balkon aus ist ein weiterer Grund, wieder mal zu buchen. Gerade abends scheint sehr lange noch die Sonne. Insgesamt also ein wunderbarer Urlaub. Vielen Dank dafür!

Die Wohnung war für uns nicht vorbereitet. Tote und lebende Stinkekäfer und sonstige Insekten überall und die Raumtemperatur war deutlich zu tief (Heizung war abgeschalten). Auf unsere umgehende Meldung reagierte die Vermieterin nicht. Ausserdem darf man angesichts des Mietpreises zur Verfügung gestellte Bettwäsche und saubere Textilien (Vorhang und Bettsofa) erwarten. Die Wohnung selbst ist modern und an guter Lage.

The apartment was very smartly decorated and had plenty of cooking equipment but there were a number of big pitfalls in the apartment. Firstly, like other reviewers have noted, arranging access to the apartment was challenging. We were given the wrong telephone number for the caretaker, so we asked the letting company to let him know a rough time we would be there. When we finally got the correct telephone number for the caretaker, it was impossible to communicate with him as he spoke only German and I only speak a limted amount. The apartment was completely locked up and we didn’t have access for over an hour, whilst we were waiting for the other tenants to return and let us in to the building. When the caretaker turned up, he was cross about having to come out again, and charged us €15 to hire some smelly old bed sheets and towels, and left us to make the beds. We’ve had better sheets in a hostel! This unfortunately really tainted the whole stay. Secondly, the beautiful location of the apartment right by the lake meant that we were plagued by mosquitoes and, given that there are no mosquito nets on the windows and no air conditioning/fans in the flat, you either are left with sweltering in the heat to avoid the mossies, or resign yourself to sleeping in slightly cooler conditions but being bitten while you sleep! The other tenants were friendly enough, but you do somewhat feel like you’re imposing, as you have to walk through their patio area to get to be entrance of the apartment. When we tried to complain to the letting agency, they did not have anything to say. Overall a beautiful location and Orta is charming, but for the price of the apartment, the management really need to improve their check - in arrangements, provide some decent linen and a couple of fans or mosquito nets on the windows to make this anywhere near worth the money. We would love to return to Orta, but I doubt we would stay at this apartment again.

We were 2 adults travelling with 2 teenagers and had never been to Lago d'Orta. We absolutely fell in love the place. The apartment is clean and beautiful and tastefully renovated. The house Villa Orta is brilliantly located, just a few minutes walk from the town so you can easily go into town for dinner. And the location right on the banks of the lake is an unbelievable luxury. Being able to wake up in the mornings, go down into the garden and hop into the warm water of the lake was magical. The lake is so clear and a lot warmer than we expected. We spent 4 days in the apartment and a lot of the time just lounging on the bridge and swimming in the lake. It was perfect. The couple that rents the rest of the house long term were very amicable and even took us out for a brilliant boat ride on the lake before we left. We strongly recommend this place. Only downsides were difficulties in contacting the rental agency on how to get in on the evening we arrived (we didn't get any reply and no one answered our phone calls, so we weren't even sure we could access the apartment), so I advice people to contact the rental agency long before arrival to be clear on how to get in. People should also note that bed linen and towels are not included (we did not know that beforehand). But the wonderful days we had there far outweighed the inconvenience at the beginning (besides it was a great way to experience the hospitality of the people in Orta San Guilio who were extremely warm when they tried to help us find the person responsible for the rental).

Clean, efficient, modern apartment right on Lake Orta. Well stocked. Comfortable beds. Lakefront so able to swim in beautiful lake. Very friendly regular tenants. Beautiful place to visit.
