Clean, comfortable and friendly

Clean, comfortable, good location for the city and great local restaurants, friendly host.

Noisy - our room was on ground floor so we had noisy people stomping around in the room above. It also backed onto a private garden, so lots of noise from people there and going in & out of the adjoining hotel door?!

The room was very clean, the staff was.very friendly and informative, it is situated in a good location with plenty of local amenities.

The bathroom for the room was situated one floor up, above the room.

Nice and quiet hotel

Nice hotel, clean and confortable. Located in a very quiet neighbourhood. Very close from bus stop that takes you to any part of the city in a couple of minutes. Also, you can walk to the city centre in a couple of minutes.

It is located in a neighbourhood, so there aren't many restaurants around. You have to walk around ten minutes to find one.

Terrible

The hosts as they were dead apologetic and understanding so much they moved us for the last night into the main house which was so much quieter

The noise. Ignorant loud people slamming doors and continuously walking with high heels on wooden floorboards till 4am in the morning.

Very good trip

The room is small, cozy, suitable for short stay. The host is very kind and enthusiastic. When I first arrived, she suggested me places for tourists, guided me on bus routes to get into the city center. Trays and cups are changed, tea and coffee are refilled if you want in the morning.

The soundproofing is not good, I could clearly hear the footsteps and noise when people walked outside.

Very welcoming

The stay was lovely, a short bus journey or walk to the centre. The host kept in touch with us before, if any questions we had. Greeted us at the door and was do helpful. Made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Ourbsthroom was upstairs from our room but was not an issue and both private and very clean

Bala House it’s located at approx. 2km from the city center. We usually came back by foot, but you have also the bus station next to it. The room was cozy, clean and really comfortable. The staff was really kind and helpful. Good price. Overall really satisfied 😊

It was safe and nice.

Very nice and clean. I was allowed to leave my suitcase for a while after my check out.

The toilet was up stairs, but it was good enough for this price.

Basic room and facilities

Bed was comfortable.

Room was cold with no option to turn on heating and no additional duvets. Due to floorboards (not carpeted) could hear people walking around upstairs through the night. Location was further away from the city centre than expected.

the lady owner was very nice and friendly. the accommodation was in a good location and very clean. the room was cute

VERY NOISY - we could hear all the other guests. We got a room right next to the main door, at night we were afraid that someone was in our room. small creaky bed with one blanket. heating not working, very cold nights.

The room was great for us. The location was ideal as it was close to all the bus rutes and taxis to go into town. It was very clean and tidy and the staff we saw were very helpful.

It was a shame that you could hear everything going on in other rooms and the stairs were very creaky. Also the fact that you couldn't get breakfast nearby. I also thought it was a bit strange to go upstairs and always take a key to the bathroom and lock it before going back to the room.

Not amazing but not awful either

The lady who checked us in was lovely. The location is good, it is a little bit out of the centre but the busses are frequent and it's not too much of a walk either. Room was cleaned daily and refreshments tray replenished. Bathroom was nicely decorated and clean. Could benefit from a couple of glasses to have a drink of water.

The house is extremely noisy, it is all pine (floors, staircase, doors) which means there's no noise absorption. Each door has an automatic closer on it which means everyone just left them to close by themselves so they slam loudly which makes a big noise in a small house. The other guests/staff were making noise from 6.30am so no chance of a peaceful morning. Parking isn't brilliant but we managed. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. I understand that the pandemic has taken away two years of trading but the room costs for such a small place was high. Would be nice to have a more tailor made booklet in the room to let people know local knowledge not just a generic visit Scotland brochure. Things like local places to eat (as the house doesn't do any food) , taxi numbers, maybe some take away options and the closest shop for any supplies etc. Not a bad little house just a few things needed to improved to allow people a peaceful relaxing stay.

Perfect for what we needed. Super easy to go straight into town from the bus. Very clean and very friendly staff.

Everything was fine except the heat wave caused it to be warm in the room. we had a small fan, but they could do with adding another just in case.
