About this cottage rental

Long-term stay friendly! Most guests who come love it so much they extend their stays! Come stay in our completely remodeled 1940's era cottage. Everything is new and ready for you to enjoy. So many things are within a 5 minute walk from the front door. Enjoy walking to the jewel of Mt. Shasta - Sisson Meadow where you can birdwatch or just stroll on the boardwalk. Or head up to Shastice Park for some fun at the skate park, ice rink or playgrounds. The incredible bike paths of the extensive Gateway Trail system are just a couple of minutes away as well. If snow is your thing, the Mt. Shasta Ski Park offers super affordable lift tickets and some of the best skiing in northern California. Only a 20 minute drive to the Ski Park from the cottage. Sledding is a free option at Snowman's Hill or Bunny Flat.

After your day of fun hiking, biking, skiing, boarding, skating, nature watching head back to the cottage to make dinner in the beautifully remodeled kitchen and watch a movie on the big TV in front of the electric fireplace. Wake up in the morning and have your cup of coffee and watch the sunrise over Mt. Shasta from the comfort of your bed. The view from the front bedroom is amazing! Your mountain adventures are sure to make the memories you want for you and your family.

We've tried to include lots of options for you to explore in a big "binder of fun" in the cottage. Lots of hikes and daytime adventure options are included with detailed maps. Also maps of bike trails, restaurant options and some info on the beautiful Mt. Shasta area.

Decorated with nature in mind we’ve tried to purchase environmentally friendly linens, including organic cottons, down-alternative and bamboo textiles. Cleaning products are also environmentally friendly. There is no planet B, let’s take better care of this one!

The inside of this property has all been tastefully remodeled, nearly new, and nicely decorated by someone with a flair for it. Everything was clean and well maintained, no broken or misbehaving tubs, toilets, or appliances, and all of the kitchen and bath essentials were provided. The location gives easy access to town or to the mountain. The owner went out of her way to make sure we were in the communications loop. Would definitely stay here again, would definitely recommend to others

This cozy little cottage shows all the love owners have given in updating it from a 40s home/footprint to include most of today's amenities. Walk to town, the ice rink and park, plus a great little backyard for little people to romp and play. The updated bathrooms are great but because of the older house layout, one bathroom is in the bedroom area and the second full bath in back of the kitchen. Speaking of which, the kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans/dishes and has ample space as an eat-in kitchen with a table accommodating six. When just two of us in the house, it was perfect. Having four more (2 adults/2 kids) worked well if you like to be cozy with family. Laura, we appreciated your emails and responsiveness - thanks for the hospitality! All-in-all, we'd stay again!

The Chickadee Cottage was exactly what we wanted: a cozy, warm, welcoming home away from home. We love to cook and the kitchen was well stocked and the perfect size. The cottage is located near town, the ice rink, and many different hiking trials. The host Laura has put together a lovely information book with endless options of fun things to do around the area. She was a great host, and responded immediately to all our needs. Would definitely stay there again.
