Gorgeous rustic styled villa sat within a lovely village in the hills of Etherthena

Beautiful villa with a rustic charm set up in the hillside overlooking the outskirts of Etherthena. Looks old but isn't and comes with all the modern bits you need like rainfall showers, dish washer and air con in the 4 bedrooms along with a lovely pool. Situated over 3 floors with 3 bedrooms downstairs - double with balcony, triple with en-suite and twin with door out to the decking around the pool, along with a family bathroom with washing machine. Large living and kitchen area with 2 large balcony and then the 4th bedroom on level 3 with toilet and a roof terrace. Car parking for 2 cars and a superb bbq area with large outdoor table seating 8. No complaints from anyone about uncomfortable beds Took 5 young adults with us and plenty of space for everyone. Maria the owner and who's late husband built the villa (along with a few other houses local by looks of designs) is soo lovely, saw her most mornings going around tidying the outside areas and watering the gardens. Greeted by Maria's daughter Maria and husband Tassos, shown around and had a lovely welcome platter of fresh grapes from the garden. Tap water here is drinkable and tastes good, meaning no lugging of big bottles of water around

There's not really anything to not like. Only thing to be cautious of is the stairs inside as they twist at the top which is quite tight - just a bit if caution needed if you are unsteady on feet.

Exceptional

We visited villa Pantelis with our friends (a group of 8 people) and had a great time there. The house is very beautiful, cozy but big at the same time, with very detailed traditional decoration and various special items from Cretan culture. All bedrooms are comfortable and the same hold for the rest of the house which is also fully equipped (eg.in the kitchen, the barbecue area etc). We trully enjoyed the swimming pool and the flourished gardens. Lastly, the hosts and their warm welcome made us feel like home. They were very friendly, warm and with understanding and desire to satisfy all our needs. We had a wonderful relaxing time there!!

Great place for a week exploring Crete, very comfortable.

Fantastic villa perched on top of hill in small village. it’s very well equipped with lots of different external areas in the well kept gardens. Tassos, Maria and Maria could not do enough to make sure had everything we needed, even home made treats.

only problem for some could be it is a 15 minute drive, down very windy roads, to the main road and beaches.

Amazing villa in the Greek countryside with everything you could need!

Amazing villa, beautiful scenery, great pool and the hosts Tassos, Maria & Maria were so hospitable and made you feel like family! The villa is in the mountains in a small rural village and so lovely to wake up to the sound of cockerels in the morning and frogs at night.

There is nothing you couldn’t like! you have the best of both worlds you have an entire villa all to yourself with everything you could need and a beach and bigger town only a 25 minute drive away!

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. Don't miss out staying here!

THE BEST STAY!!! It was great to be in amongst the locals who were very friendly and welcoming. Tassos and Maria were absolutely amazing hosts who went out of their way to help us with absolutely anything. Maria did an amazing job of keeping the villa clean (every 3/4 days). We also had a fantastic welcome gift of wine, olive oil, honey, rusks, raki and cheese. Tassos invited us to a walk with the locals and a Greek archeologist around the local area where we discovered some very interesting sights we would never have known about. The ancient archaeology is amazing in this area. He took the time to translate all the information, provided drinks and snacks throughout the day and did a great job of looking after us, especially our 7 year old daughter! A fantastic day ended with a Cretan meal of spaghetti and lamb in the town hall...delicious. Once again the locals were brilliant and so welcoming. Tassos also arranged a bbq at the villa.....they were amazing. They provided all the food and drinks, cooked it and wouldn't allow us to help with anything, even the clearing up! A wonderful evening spent with Tassos, Maria and family and friends. Don't believe any previous reviews that say the villa isn't private - it is absolutely private and we enjoyed many an evening on the numerous wonderful balconies with a view of the whole village and hills. The pool is just perfect and everything is kept very clean. The town has a few lovely food places and the main town of Rethymno isn't too far away - we enjoyed a drive out in the evenings or to go to the beach but welcomed coming back to the peaceful villa. We also loved the local food and veg van that stopped outside on a Thursday where we purchased amazing fruit. On this note, the villa itself has loads of beautiful fruit trees...the grapes were amazing and a constant supply of tomatoes for salads. Loved the hammock amongst the fruit paradise! I honestly can't say enough about the hosts and villa!

Greek castle on the hill.

The villa is amazing, just like it's owners Tasos and Maria. Any question we had for Tasos was answered straight away by text. There were fresh pastries and cakes on arrival and another batch of treats were delivered halfway through the holiday. We loved the location as we had a wedding to attend at AgrecoFarms and we were very close by for a taxi. The pool and the balconies are all perfect for a relaxing stay and the location is peaceful and tranquil. The villa is not owner occupied as mentioned in a previous review but they do have a cleaning room outside and Maria cleaned the garden and pool every day and was usually finished by 8am.

It was a very beautiful villa with anything you need. We enjoyed our trip. Also the owners are very kind and help you with everything you need. It was not my last stay in this area.

Exceptional

The villa is located at an altitude of 400 meters, so it was fresh at night. We had a vacation in August and nevertheless didn’t use the air conditioner at all, it was great. The house is very spacious, there are many balconies for relaxation, the stone pool in reality is even larger than on the photos. Special thanks to the owners of the villa who welcomed and treated us as close friends! We definitely recommend this villa to anybody who wants to visit Rethymno.

From our point of view, the mattresses in some rooms are very hard and the springs can be felt. Very small dishwasher, so we had to wash the pan by hand. There are very steep wooden stairs in the house, this was not critical for us, but this can be a problem for the elderly people.

Exceptional

The villa is really great! It is very authentic and creates ancient atmosphere. The kitchen, grill and swimming pool zones are comfortable and you always enjoy being there. But the biggest advantage that villa has is the attitude and communication with hosts! Tassos and Maria have created the best hospitality experience and it was a pleasure to communicate with them every time!

Very nice property but remote & owner occupied.

The villa was very large with multiple balconies - plenty of space and lovely pool. The owner & property manager (daughter & partner) were all extremely helpful and we were even treated us to their own honey, jam, home made cake and pancakes on separate occasions.

This is an owner occupied villa - as I've said, super nice owner, but she is staying in a separate part of the villa, which we did not expect/appreciate. The location was remote as expected but we did understand there was a local supermarket .... this did not sell any fresh food & the nearest 'real' supermarket was a 20 min drive away.

we had a fantastic stay at the beautiful Villa Pantelis thanks also to very warm-hearted hosts

Beautifully decorated villa in typical Cretan style with many balconies and terraces to relax, a barbecue place with a great view on the village, a nice garden where we could pick pomegranates for breakfast and at last for the children a refreshing pool. Paradise! Maria and her family are exceptional hosts taking care of us so affectionately with welcoming us with a table full of delicious specialities (she even baked for us pastries during our stay). We loved our journey and highly recommend Villa Pantelis!!!

Fantastic - highly recommended

The location, hospitality, property and views were all stunning. Tasos, Maria and Maria were very welcoming and were always available to help. If you want a place to relax and see ancient Crete, this is a perfect base.
