About this house rental

Yes, we are a legal, licensed bed and breakfast. We are available and legal for stays of less than 30 days. We are not effected by the recent controversy which effect unlicensed bnbs in Honolulu. See license numbers below.

Walk to beach from Hawaii Sheffield House. Located just 10 houses from Kailua Beach the Garden Suite has a queen bed and single bed sized day bed/with trundle and a delightful window seat which is also the size of a single bed. It has a private entrance and a private bath.

The Garden Suite is a ground floor unit and has a one step entrance. There are ceiling fans in all of the rooms as well as quiet split system air conditioning. Yes, we are in the tropics. Yes, there are geckos , anoles and chameleons and insects. Yes, we use pesticides.

Sheffield House is located in a neighborhood only a short walk (10 houses) from secluded Kailua Beach - one of the best beaches on Oahu. Sunbathe or swim in the cool water or just walk on the white sandy beach. On breezy days watch the windsurfers, or look for sea turtles between Flat Island and Kailua Beach Park.

Take advantage of waking up early from the time zone change and walk down to the beach to watch the sun rise out of the ocean over the Mokulua Islands. Or once a month check out the full moon rise out of the ocean. Bird watching is superior over the canal at Kailua Beach park or in Kawainui Marsh. See stilts, herons, or iwa birds.

The Garden Suite entry area has a split rail barrel with a turtle fountain that bubbles away. The Garden suite features a water color print of a Hawaiian monk seal. A parking space for this unit is in the driveway just steps from the entry to this unit.

It rents from $259-$325 per night for a party of two. A $30 extra per person charge. At this time we are not taking children under the age of 3 in this unit . We do take small children when rented together with VRBO 572484.

It has Mexican tile floors and Hawaiian quilts on the beds.

The kitchenette in the Garden Suite has kitchen cabinets with granite counter tops, a half size refrigerator, hot plate, toaster, microwave, electric frying pay, and coffeemaker. It has an outdoor garden area with umbrella, table and 4 chairs . Towels, beach towels and paper towels are provided. Yes, we provide a hair dryer. A charcoal grill is provided for your use in the garden area.

We offer spectrum internet and high definition cable TV.
Note that there are two coin operated laundromats within 1/3 of a mile away.

It has off street parking, phone, tv, and wifi. A complimentary breakfast or snacks of: Hawaiian juice, fruit and coffee or tea, is provided for your first morning. Upon arrival or while you are here you will meet Paul or Rachel Sheffield. Yes, we need to know your arrival time

Check in is 3 p.m. and check out is at 10 a.m. There is a $30 per person extra person charge. No refunds will be given . Due to our residential area we have a quiet time between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. Also note that there is a community pool only 13 houses up the street. Also, there are 2 coin operated laundromats 1/3 of a mile away.
Note we are a non smoking property and this a NON SMOKING UNIT.

Yes, we have a minimum night stay. However, always inquire to Hawaii Sheffield House as we will take shorter stays if it is between longer stays or last minute if the room is available! Hawaii Sheffield House
has been in business over 25 years. ( Yes, we have been in business so long we are older than the internet! We are still listed in guidebooks such as the Lonely Planet , Frommers, and Foders. We have been listed in the magazine Coastal Living and the Los Angeles Times ! )

Sadly, there has been a delay in the completion of the round about leading to Lanikai. So, our street is busier than usual due to detoured traffic. Hopefully, by the time you read this construction will be completed and the detour will be removed.

Thank goodness we have friends in the area that recommended Kailua. This is a fantastic town which is not too touristy at all :) Walking to the beach is a HUGE bonus!! Would love to stay here again!!

The Garden Suite was a beautiful oasis. It is a close walk to the beach and to stores. And a short drive to many adventures. The property is as described and felt safe, quiet & private. We would highly recommend. Thank you so much Sheffield’s!

Extremely well-kept guest suite very close to Kailua Beach and lots of shopping and restaurants. Quaint spot with access to lots of great outdoor destinations. The owners were very accessible and helpful on questions about the area.

Even though it's in a busy neighborhood, Sheffield House feels private because of all the tropical plants. There are trees, vines, and colorful potted plants everywhere. A fan in a shady kitchen window did a great job of hiding noise from the road and neighbors. The AC would have further hid the sounds but we never even turned it on. We were happy with the overhead fans. The outdoor sitting area was a bit buggy so we ate in the charming indoor sitting area overlooking the patio. The kitchen was perfect for preparing breakfast or reheating take-out food from nearly Kailua town (and came stocked with some goodies.) The double bed and couch/bed were comfy and there was a nice dressing area. The big, bright shower room had plenty of hot water. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach - and a line to hang your towels. And what a gorgeous beach! Only a 5 minute walk away. Check out the sunrises! The hosts have created a inviting space with many attractive personal touches, and all the amenities you could need. Before I arrived, Rachel always answered my emails quickly. And Paul was a wonderful host during our stay. For a place in town, near the beach, this couldn't be beat!

My friends and I stayed at the Sheffield house for a week and had an amazing stay. The host were so helpful from the moment we got off the airplane to the moment we left. They also had great local recommendations. Overall, I highly recommend staying here!

The cottage and patio garden area are charming, very clean, private and well maintained with nice amenities. Check in was professional, and we enjoyed our stay overall. The unit is close to the very busy street so heavy traffic noise starting around 5:30 am, and into the evening, was our only negative.

The hosts were very kind and friendly. They make the check in process easy but were a little slow to respond to requests. The location is perfect as far as proximity to Kailua Town and the beach park - I walked everywhere! My biggest complaint was noise. I’m very familiar with the area and I know Kuulei is a busy road - however I did not know that it would still be used as part of a detour. It’s incredibly loud with cars and buses from early morning until about 8:30pm. The construction has an anticipated date of completion of February 2025. I was also looking forward to sweet bread, fruit, juice and coffee. I was completely surprised when it was Folgers, an apple, orange, 2 packages biscotti and 2 cans of Hawaiian Sun (flavored water). The fruit was soft and bruised. I think perhaps I was just unlucky? What I loved most was the landscaping - you can tell that they enjoy making it a tropical oasis.
