About this house rental
CIN: LE07502991000059985
Comfortably accomodating two to seven people, this spacious 5-bedroom art-deco styled town house was originally part of a 16th Century library and has since been renovated to an extremely high standard by award winning 'Puglia Estates' as seen on Grand Designs. The apartment spans back from a grand entrance and stair-case to reveal room upon room of living space. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with 5-burner gas stove, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer However, the real heart of the cooking/eating area is the original kitchen where once wood burning stoves were located and which leads out onto a beautiful dining terrace for enjoying breakfast or an evening bottle of wine al-fresco. The townhouse consists of a large lounge, 3 double bedrooms (two en-suite) mean you don't have to struggle with sofa-beds and a large spectacular roof terrace combined with two further private terraces allow a variety of sunbathing options. The apartment has aircon in smaller rooms.
Additional information: As with many old properties in Italy, there are lots of steep marble stairs between floors (the ceilings are very high and the house spans over 3 floors), and very high roof terraces with waist high walls. As a result, the apartment may be unsuitable for people of reduced/impaired mobility or young children (under 10). It is the guests' responsibility to ensure the safety of their children. Having said this, the apartment is full of character and original features, and the high terraces afford spectacular views of Galatina and the surrounding area. Smokers are welcome, but we do request that guests only smoke outdoors on the roof terraces.
Foodpacks and local knowledge: You will be met at the house with the keys and shown around by someone who has lived in the area for a few years. This allows us to impart some very local knowledge such as the best places to eat, or the nicest beach to get your suntan.

Beautiful stay in this fantastic house. The photos don't do it justice. Galatina is perfectly located to visit all of Salento. Thank you Christiano!

My family stayed in this delightful property for 3 nights while we explored the Salento area of Puglia. It was my sons 21st birthday while we were there so we wanted to stay somewhere special; Toto House was perfect. We were unlucky with the weather while we were there so we were unable to use the gorgeous looking outside areas, but we were more than happy to eat in the old kitchen and relax together in the massive living room. The property is so beautifully furnished and decorated. The beds, so comfy - I had the best nights sleep there that I have had in a very long time. The location, in the fabulous old town of Galatina, is ideal. Literally 2 minute walk from the main piazza and numerous restaurants. I would not hesitate to stay here again, and I will definitely be recommending it to friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this large home right in the middle of the the historic area. We did not use all of the areas but appreciated the beauty of this home with lovely tiled floors and traditional architecture. We counted 5 balconies! So much to explore in this home and the center of Galatina!

The property was as described and a good value for the price. There are a lot of stairs to access the main floor and most of the bedrooms, and they are very cut off from one another - so if you are traveling with kids, they would have to be fairly independent. The kitchen has everything you need and there is a bonus kitchen on the deck which we were not able to use because of the heat. It would be a lot of fun up there in cooler weather! The papers left by the owner have a lot of good info about the area and we put those to good use. One thing that would improve the experience is better lighting, it is fairly dim everywhere and sometimes there were just no lightbulbs or the lights/fans would go on/off/flicker.
Overall, good location, would recommend!

Posto fantastico, alloggio meraviglioso

Fabulous palazzo
Due to family circumstances we only stayed two days in this stylish house with its marble stairs, its spacious living room and cosy terraces, in the old center of Galatina, but if we go back to this part of Italy, we will absolutely return to this gorgious house!

Beautiful house in Galatina
We had a lovely stay in Galatina. The house is gorgeous, located in the historical centre. Beautifully designed with a lovely roof terrace and perfect little terrace by the kitchen where we had breakfast every morning. Cristiano arranged for us to check in earlier which was much appreciated. We fell in love with Galatina and were sad to leave. It's a lovely friendly town with some great restaurants, also a good base for day trips to Lecce, gallipoli, Otranto, the beaches etc. Having such a beautiful place to come home to each day made our holiday very special. I would highly recommend staying here. We hope to come back and stay again.

magnifique Palais !
un immense palazio italien, très propre et idéalement situé au coeur de la ville, parfait pour une grande famille et pour plusieurs jours !

A wonderful palazzo
This is the best place to stay in Galatina by far. You have plenty of space, very tasteful interior, a roof top terrace and all appliances needed. In a very central location and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay in Galatina in this gem of a place. Highly recommended!

geschmackvoll eingerichteter Altstadtpalazzo

Beautiful house in the heart of beautiful Galatina
We loved staying in this house. It's in a wonderful location in the heart of the old town. It's very spacious, light and airy. It's well-equipped and everyone was very comfortable. The main salon and staircase are gracious and impressive. The terraces are wonderful (and would be especially so in the summertime) with superb views across the roof-tops of Galatina.
We recommend staying here!

For the second year in a row, we spent a two-week family vacation in this wonderful palazzo. The apartment is elegant and has been renovated with a very good taste.
The house is located in the heart of the old town of Galatina and is ideal to discover the whole Salento region. It has a great roof terrace where we spent many evenings dining and relaxing. Being a tall house it has a number of stairs so it is probably not suitable for young children or older people who struggle with steps.
The only improvement we could think of is that the kitchen needs a few minor renovations as well as a few more suited saucepans/dishes, especially when you are cooking (e.g. pasta) for 6 to 8 people.
The property manager, Cristiano, has always been helpful (e.g. when arranging the wifi connection) and very responsive. He even had a new air conditioning installed in the main bedroom further to a comment we made after our first stay!
We would definitely return again.

Great apartment that well met our expectations. Logistics worked well with Cristiano, very helpful. Used as a base to explore the Salento peninsula - Lucca, Gallipoli, Otranto, Porto Cesaro, etc etc. Favourite restaurant, a must visit, is Percuoco A Santa Caterina, several minutes walk from the apartment. Highly recommended.

The house is beautiful, with a great roof terrace and in the old town. Very quiet! The kitchen needs a few minor renovations and the cleaning lady a little more enthusiasm. Duvet covers would be pleasant.
It might help to show photos of the bedrooms, one has no window and one is separate. When it rained, the rain came into this separate room under the door (quite a lot!). It was quite humid then. But we enjoyed our stay very much, thank you!

We have just finished a weeks stay in this wonderful holiday home owned by David and managed by Cristiano. The information packet sent when we booked was fabulous in orienting us to Galatina and the apartment....nothing was overlooked. The apartment is very spacious and we were a party of three couples and never felt crowded. The bedrooms were very separated and we never were aware of outside street noise.....oh, except in the top bedroom a neighbors cat could be loud occasionally. Parking is an added bonus that is for sure and a car is necessary. The beds were comfortable....the kitchen very well supplied with cooking utinsils. David and Cristiano were very responsive to any problems we encountered and wanted to be made known of corrections that needed to be done. All were minor and I am sure resolved by now. We would definitely return. If you do come be sure to look up L'Astore Masseria and take there cooking class and wine and olive oil tour......a highlight of our stay.

When a couple of friends from Germany spend two weeks in the Salento and decide to return again in the forthcoming year, even before their current stay is over, a lot of reasons might apply: The beauty of Galatina village, the hospitality of the Salento people, the delicacies in the local restaurants, the pureness of the Ionian Sea, the oustanding wines of local Santi Dimitri vineyards – and much more. All of that is true when it comes to this outstanding region of Italy. But the cherry on the top was our “home away” in this beautiful palazzo in the historic center, where we truly felt at home. A perfect place for people who love to buy food at the local markets, cook and dine at home; (but as well for for those who prefer to have some aperitivi on one of the terraces – and then have dinner outside ;o) It was the perfect choice for our group, and will certainly be the perfect choice again next year. Galatina, we are coming!

We arrived much later than expected due to flight delays, and Cristiano came to our rescue, finding us after we got lost and escorting us to this large, bright, and airy palazzo. The house is beautifully restored, keeping its antique feel while being comfortable and equipped with everything you need. We (two couples) were there for two weeks and enjoyed getting to know the charming town of Galatina. We had one unfortunate incident when a roof drain became clogged, causing a cascade of water from the roof into one of the living areas, but the cleaning crew came out immediately and made everything right in a short time. This accident could happen to anyone, and the quick response turned it from a potential disaster into an adventure. Most tourists seem to visit this area for the beaches, but we were more interested in the towns, the castles, the art, the archaeology, etc. There are many easy day-trips from Galatina to fascinating spots (and we did an overnight trip to Andria to visit the Castel del Monte). Highly recommended for an off-season visit.

A very nice surprise
A beautiful, quirky house. It really was just like home. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Cristiano was very charming and helpful.
Given the date of our visit, parking was never a problem. Galatina has some excellent restaurants and we found the people so very friendly and helpful. It is perfect for exploring the many other towns and villages where the architecture and history is so fascinating.
We would return to this house in order to discover more about this part of Italy.

Stunning, Spacious House
We were really bowled over when we first looked around the apartment which exceeded expectations. It is extremely spacious - we only had 4 people in it but could have comfortably had 5 more.
It is well furnished and decorated and we had a really comfortable stay in Galetina. One of the perks was the projector which we used to watch a couple of old movies on the terrace during the warm evenings.
The apartment is well located in the town with easy access to the surrounding restaurants and shops . Galetina itself offered a choice of coastlines although we favoured the Adriatic side where the beaches were a little more rugged.
All in all the apartment was the perfect location to explore the surrounding area and was cool and comfortable when we opted to stay nearby. Thank you!

Beautiful appartment in a superb place
Appartment is very confortable and the deco is creating a very good atmospher. Very well equiped. If you have kids below 3 years old, close the doors because there are some stairs. The appartment is very well situated in Galatina. We spend some time in Otranto, Lecce, Gallipoli, Santa Maria del Bagna, Porto Cesaro, ... never more than 30'-40' time to reach these places (of course, a car is needed). Lot of good restaurant in Galatina. We will go back I hope.

Perfect holiday
We spent 10 days at the lovely villa in Galatina, and didn't want to leave!
The house is beautiful, and in a great central location. Although there are a number of good restaurants in the town, and surrounding villages, we really enjoyed eating in on one of the two lovely terraces.
There is so much to do and see in Puglia, and every beach we visited was different, and charming. There is something for everyone wether it be flat sandy beaches, or rugged natural rock pools.
It's by far the best place for food that we have ever visited.
The house is very tastefully done, and a few days into your holiday, you really feel like you live there.
We will be definitely be coming back again next year!

Galatina
Beautiful property which was well maintained and clean. Ideal for a group of friends although the mezzanine bedroom may not be to everyone's taste. David, the owner, though was up front about this so we knew what to expect.
Perfect location in the town and ideal for a getaway for those that like to get in the car and explore the local towns and beaches.
Large roof terrace equipped with a projector to create your own open-air cinema. Terrace would have benefitted from a few flowers though!
Excellent value.

my week in galatina
The property is newly restored to the highest standard The main bedroom and the guest room is with ensuite bathrooms. There are other showerrooms and toilet.
There is a wonderful terrace off the kitchen for drinks and meals and a wonderful patio where one can sunbathe play games or show films.
The property was clean and with daily help available
It is near enough to the sea. I visited various beaches of different types, one reminded me of the coast of cornwall.
There are restaurants on the beaches of a high standard especially the fish restaurants. In galatina itself there are various restaurants to suit all tastes, would suit families or adults.
There is a magificent church with original frescoes from the medaeval period of the town
The vegetable van comes round to the door and there is a supermarket quite close by..This is perfect for a family with guests who want separation from the rest of the group and it has lots of space. It is 40 minutes drive from Bari airport, I went by Ryan air but BA flies to Brindisi. You need to hire car at the airport or bring your own in order to explore the country side and the beaches. The nearest big town is Lecce but the nearbye towns are full of historical mementows like Otranto. I was an area very involved in the 2nd world war when the allies came up Itlay.I thouroughly enjoyed my week there but in August it is quite hot.
