Family-Friendly atmosphere, accommodating staff, delicious food and perfect location!

Los Cocos provides fairly basic accommodations but what sets them apart is the quality of the staff. Marlon, his family and his staff are incredibly helpful and accommodating every step of the way. The food is typical Nicaraguan fare cooked beautifully with generous portions. We were always met with smiles. As we are practiced our Spanish, the Los Cocos team were patient and worked with us to ensure that expectations were well communicated. They spent time with us and got to know our children. The space is incredibly safe and the location is excellent, being directly across from playa Santa Cruz and the Saturday market. If you need a taxi, Marlon is more than willing to drive you wherever you need to go in a comfortable pick up truck. He can help you arrange horse tours, vehicle rental, kayak tour, hiking tour and whatever else you can imagine on the island. We have returned to Los Cocos twice, and we couldn't imagine staying at any other hotel on Isla de Ometepe!

We have nothing to complain about. I suppose that warm water in the shower would have been nice, but this is not a commonality in Nicaragua, and we had no expectations of a hot shower.

Buena ubicación y atención al cliente, pero con pocas cosas por mejorar

La ubicación, que se puede guardar la moto dentro de los establecimientos, tener una heladería a la par, que contaba con 2 abanicos, buena atención al cliente

Falta de limpieza, sin paño para secarse las manos, instalaciones eléctricas en la ducha, no se podía mover la cortina del servicio sanitario

Soy una mujer que viaja sola y no sabe conducir, por lo tanto es muy importante la cercanía que el hostel tiene para las conexiones de autobus, de restaurantes y playas. Puedes comer en el restaurante que tiene precios convenientes y la comida es contundentes. El dueño y Eduardo en recepción son personas muy amables y atentos. Tuve un percance para subir el volcán y el dueño no tuvo inconveniente en entender y devolverme un día pagado, que no podría hospedarme. No cualquiera devuelve el 100% con buena disposición.

Bastante agradable

El personal es muy agradable, las habitaciones correctas, camas comodas y el baño correcto. Todo limpio. La playa de santa cruz esta cruzando la calle, y otros puntos de interes como ojo de agua a 10 min en coche o bus.

La ducha funcionaba un poco mal, los taquilleros no se podian usar porque no funciona el cierre. El wifi sule dejar de funcionar de tanto en tanto. NO HAY COCINA DE USO COMUN.

Superb

Great location, staff is super helpful and nice. Restaurant and reception area is also nice, comfortable and green. Rooms are basic but comfy with fans. It's windy and cool at night so you don't need any AC or even fan.

A really nice hostal with a great location and good prices.

Los Cocos Hostal is directly across from Los Cocos beach. It was central to other restaurants and the kiteboarding school that I was taking classed from. The Los Cocos bar and restaurant had pretty good hours, really good food, and cold beer. It was mostly quiet enough to read and do work at. The staff was exceptionally friendly and made me feel welcome. I had a private room with private bathroom and shower. The room was small but very clean and had what I needed.

Realizing that this is a hostal I would point out that the room was really noisy both during the day and at night: screaming kits, loud neighbors, slamming doors, music across the street. A bit more that what you would expect but still a hostal. Also, the power and internet went out twice while I was there. I think this is systemic on the island and not just to Los Cocos. It didn't affect me too much but would have if this was a working vacation.

Disappointing

Very little

They should stick to renting rooms not dorms. Dorm room could not be locked and lockers had no keys nor possibly to use an own lock. When I asked about it at the reception they only shrugged and were annoyed. Dorm is too small for six beds, with only two electric sockets. Staff, especially the lady, was very unfriendly and unhelpful. Also no renting of scooter or similar there, nor help to find any. No kitchen or si, restaurant on site is way too expensive, twice the price of food or drinks just next door. Can't understand the overwhelming positive reviews, truth is you'll find better, friendlier, and cheaper next door or nearby. Ps there is no, zero, Nada Beach there in February

Great choice!

Great location between Balgue and Santa Domingo. Right across the road from the water’s edge and good beach access. Kayaking in the river, Ojo de Agua, the petroglyphs at Finca Porvenir and kite surfing are all nearby. Good food though limited menu at a good price. Rooms were decent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Accepted cards. Tables, chairs and swings located above beach. I really loved the breakfasts.

Limited English spoken by staff. Not much within easy walking distance. No AC, but plenty of fans.

it was okay, not to special. I’m used to hostels with a kitchen and commun spaces. it’s not like that. they are very helpful though!

Superb

The staff were very nice and helpful, the location was great and the place was wide and well designed. We had a great stay!

The neighboring store has 2 roosters that shout every morning, right below our window. Also the shower is very cold, but I guess it's the same for the whole island.

Best Hotel in Ometepe

The staff was absolutely wonderful, Emely knows everything about anything! She is so helpful and friendly. The owner (think his name is Marlo) will go the extra mile for you every day. The rooms were lovely and we really enjoyed the food and the drinks at the hotel. Very clean and comfortable!

The only thing is that the area is a bit boring, there's nothing around, but perfect for couples and groups as you can always have a few drinks somewhere! Not ideal for solo travellers. I insist, not the hotel but the location.

Buena relación calidad precio

Well located. Rooms are comfortable, and the restaurant has good options and veggie options too. The staff was nice and helpful when we needed to rent bikes.

Our bathroom wasn’t working well and they tried to fix it but the noise of the water running was kind of annoying at night, but nothing serious.

We had a lot of ants so couldnt keep any food and we had a cocrauch in the bathroom.

Great hostel/restaurant 5 steps from the lake.

The hostel was right on the lake. There is a restaurant open from 7am to 9pm. All the food was delicious! Next door you can rent a bike. The staff is really friendly and they are bilingual. The hostel is close to a few activities and public transport can pick you up right by your door. Everything is really clean.

No wifi in the rooms (but there are outside the door), no plugs next to the bed and no way to lock the lockers (option to keep it in the safe at reception). The shower only has a curtain and no where to hang your towel or clothes inside (expose yourself while getting your towel from the floor outside the shower).

Place nice, but if you don't rent a bike , no restaurant in area so you have to eat in hotel

Dishes not clean , use same pat to cock meet and rise and beens, my rise and beens smell like meet, and i am vegetarian, so it was really uncomfortable, return the meal , was hungry and didn't give me discount or compensation.

Superb

The bus can pick/drop you off in front of the place. Location is excellent. Its right across from the beach. There is a flea market on the weekends. The food is good and reasonable price. My bed was comfy and they give you a towel.

"Cold" shower. Wifi worked well everywhere except for the dorm. It was spotty in the dorm room, but if you go out of the dorm, it works fine.

nice stay

- there were rocking chairs outside the room for us to use - the staff were really friendly and helpful. the owner gave us a lot of information about the island - scooter rental for a fair price - the beach is across the road

-it was a little warm as the fans weren't close to the bed -the wifi inside the room wasn't strong but it was good outside the room
