Exceptional

The hotel was exquisite. Beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. The pool was an extra bonus! Our family of 4 was very comfortable in the suite. The food was delicious and the staff all very accommodating and helpful.

Beautiful hotel and surrounds. Pleasant staff.

Great old hotel with modern updates. Good Spar supermarket nearby. Restaurant was disappointing as the menu lacked beef or lamb. Other Australians staying said the same. Fancy food but disappointing. Great location.

on Saturday night until 0230 in the morning the bar opposite my room had very loud music and people outside drinking and talking loudly. I would object to their next licence application

We visited I only one night but wished we could have stayed much longer. The perfect stay!

This hotel has everything - ambience, comfort, modern facilities, gracious hosts. the property was historical but with modern updates. the pool was perfect. when we arrived, tired from a long day of hiking, Laurence suggested changing our room to one with a bath so we could soak our tired feet. so thoughtful! The food at the restaurant was fantastic too. The chef puts both heart and ingenuity into his dishes.

The hotel is furnished with older paintings and furnishings that are both lovely and functional - and that reminded me of the beautiful antiques my mother collected during the years we lived in France. It had a calm and restful air and the owners were unfailing courteous, warm, and helpful.

A relaxing two nights which was welcomed after a 1000kms drive.

Very friendly staff - even though there was clearly a lot happening with the village concert that weekend. Rooms to a very high standard - we were warned the concert might be noisy, but the double glazing worked a treat to keep the noise out. We were a party of three - and the third bed was a proper bed - not a temporary camp bed - so my daughter was happy. Bathroom facilities are great - interesting Italian-style shower and everything one would need and expect. We only ate breakfast - and it was good and we were able to ask for extras if we wanted.

The only, very minor, issue is no dedicated car park - we used street parking which was obviously affected by the concert. On any other weekend I suspect street parking would be straightforward.

Very comfortable, cosy and friendly. Breakfast is beautiful.

We have stayed before and chose it again because it is very well run, very comfortable and civilised and very cosy. We also rebooked it because the first time we stayed there we had dinner in their restaurant and it was fabulous. Breakfast at this hotel is a beautiful thing and I love the linens they use. There is also a really lovely shop with lots of local goodies in it.

Sadly, the restaurant was closed (was reopening the following day), so we missed out on that experience for the second time, however, we were redirected to another bistro in a nearby village, which the hotel very kindly booked for us and we were received very warmly at that bistro and fed a good hot meal.

Really lovely. Very comfortable and charming and we will stay again.

The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented and our host made a lot of extra effort to produce it early for us as we had to leave early. The location is very beautiful - in the mountains in an historic and typical French village with life and atmosphere in it! Just like a stage set!

Charming atmospheric old inn perfect for a short stay

- Charming old inn with period furniture, overlooking with its grand typical facade the market square of the quaint village of Sare - lovely terrace dining under the trees, watching village life pass by -great food

- old structure : rooms somewhat moisty and floors cracking - pool in the garden would be a plus
