Private & Quiet - Comfortable Private Bedroom & Private Full Bath, King Size Bed - Private Entrance & Quiet Surroundings - Small Kitchenette fridge/freezer/microwave/coffee maker - Beach Towels, Beach Chairs, and Beach Umbrellas This is a home-share accommodation with a separate entrance to private guest suite that has a kitchenette with sink and countertop, fridge and freezer, microwave, and coffee maker. This provides ample utility to prepare simple meals but it is not suited for cooking. Located in a popular neighborhood just off Siesta Key called Gulf Gate with over 100 shops including bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants and much more The Neighborhood Gulf Gate is a very popular residential neighborhood because of its closeness to everything – golf, shopping, restaurants and Siesta Key Beach. You can walk or bike on the streets. The area has retirees, young professionals, and growing families. It is located about 5 minutes from Siesta Key, 15 minutes from downtown Sarasota, and 20 minutes to the Sarasota International Airport (SRQ)

This place was absolutely perfect for us. It could not have been any better. Terry is probably the best host we have ever had! He is so kind, accommodating and considerate. Whatever we needed he had! The location is fantastic and close to the beach. We walked to some restaurants nearby although Terry has bikes. We used the beach chairs, and towels. He also has suggestions available on things to do. He thinks of everything you would need to make your visit enjoyable. The room was always cool for the hot FL days. The bed is wonderful too! I cannot rave on this property enough. Fantastic for the price too! Just book it!

My friend & I like to come to the Sarasota/Siesta Key area 2-3 times a year, so doing so on a budget is important. I’ve stayed on and off the Key, at many different places, and Terry’s place is perfect for 1-2 people wanting to stay off the Key. One of my favorites. Less than 2 miles to the beach. Probably walkable if you’re ambitious. Definitely bikeable. If you have a car there’s space for that too.
I liked that it’s separate from the house.. has its private entrance and no shared walls. I believe the garage separates this unit and the house. The bed was comfortable (that’s important!), the bathroom has a hair dryer, and a few essentials you may forget. The kitchenette is nice for simple food prep.. do not plan to cook unless it’s microwaveable. I greatly appreciated the fridge of water when we arrived & snacks! Such a nice touch! We loved that there are beach chairs, beach bag, coolers, & umbrellas. Super nice to have when you’re flying in and can’t bring those things. The gift card to the Clever Cup and fresh flowers were a bonus!! I will most definitely see if Terry’s place is available next time I come to Siesta. Nice neighborhood, cozy unit, friendly & quick to respond host, budget-friendly. Don’t hesitate to book!!

No wonder Terry gets five stars almost every time a review is made. The room was clean, cozy and cool. The air conditioner kept it cool and comfortable and a vase of orange lilies that opened up during our stay, brought beauty to the room. It truly felt like a home away from home. I want to stress how quiet the neighborhood was! No loud parties or emergency vehicles going in and out. Very quiet, which was important to us! But not far from the restaurants and beaches. Perfect location.
Everything we needed for our stay. Beach chairs, umbrella, huge beach bag, beach towels, sun screen, and even two soft coolers for our beach days at Siesta Key!! Also two breakfast gift cards for local restaurants. So nice! Terry was very helpful and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Couldn't ask for a better host! He also let us know the happenings around the area.
Don't pass up going to Detwiler's Farm Market for a huge sub sandwich to eat at the beach!
We will definitely be staying here again when we return!

We rented this property as we were spending a few days to see some spring training baseball. Quiet neighborhood and the host was accommodating and provided us with great tips for things to do! He gave us lots of suggestions of places to eat. Very helpful. The place was clean, quiet, and private!

Terry was thoughtful and responsive from the moment we booked. I was a little concerned about privacy with staying in a room in a house. I'm happy to say it was not a problem at all. This kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and entryway are completely private. It's like staying in your own hotel room except better because he provides coolers, beach towels, great beach chairs and literally everything you need for a fun, beach vacation. The room was SPOTLESS. And I'll also add that the kitchen area was well stocked with everything you might need. He also gave us excellent recommendations of things to do which was fun. He was respectful of our privacy and generous with everything he offered us. And the bed, sheets and pillows were so comfortable. This space is also quiet and peaceful in a lovely neighborhood with great places to walk. You are also minutes away from so many good restaurants. Thank you Terry for an excellent stay!!

We enjoyed our stay in Terry 's apartment. The unit is conveniently located in a lovely residential area and very close to restaurants, groceries and beaches. Terry is a kind and thoughtful host. He provided bottled water, snacks, sunscreen, beach chairs, beach towels and even a gift certificate to a local coffee shop. He gave us suggestions for places to visit that we probably won't find on our own. When he learned that our car had broken down, he came immediately to offer his help. We will definitely stay with him again the next time we are in the Sarasota. His rate is very reasonable for the area.

There is nothing you will need that is not provided. Not fancy but very comfortable. Everything from bikes to ride to beach towels, chairs, refrigerator had water, soda, snacks and much more. I would definitely recommend this place to stay for a couple. The gift cards are an extra.

Terry is a great host. He gave excellent recommendations on activities to do in the area and suggestions of places to visit which were all great. We had a great time staying here. Terry was so nice and I’ve been coming for years and we did new things and tried new places he suggested. It’s close to a lot of things and having the bikes is huge plus on nice days.

Enjoyed our stay at this property. Old style Florida home & neighborhood. Owner on site was very nice and welcoming. Full of information and recommendations. Gave us a tour, breakfast gift cards, water bottles in the fridge. Bikes and chairs and umbrellas are available to use free of charge. We really enjoyed using the bikes. Would stay here again.

Great Sarasota Getaway!
This was our first time renting a spot in Sarasota and our only regret is that we cannot give Terry more than 5 stars!! We were so pleased with the whole experience. Terry is an excellent property manager who goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have the best experience possible. From cleanliness and amenities (including beverages and snacks!) to recommendations for local spots to check out, he is the best! We highly recommend Terry and his property and will definitely be making this our go-to spot when we visit Sarasota! Thanks for helping to make our vacation wonderful!

A wonderful host!
Terry Thorpe, our host, was a real sweetheart. Staying at his place was real serendipity. Terry loaded us with insider tips, treats, snacks and other surprises. The place was small but sweet, located close to many of the places we wanted to see or be at. As a gardener, I enjoyed meeting Terry's friend, Jason, an amazing Bromeliad expert and innovator, who gave us a beautiful gift of one of his special plants. With Terry's encouragement and use of his bicycles, I got into riding again after many years without bicycles. All-in-all, I feel we were lucky to find this property and have a new friend in Terry.

Sarasota Gulf Gate Stay
Enough cannot be said for having a great host. Terry, the property owner, is an amazing guy. He bends over backwards to help in any way to point out beaches to visit, restaurants to try and the finer points of Siesta Key, which is where he grew up. We visited Marie Selby Botanical Garden and had a wonderful time, Lido Key and South Lido Beach as well as Siesta Key which is about 2 miles from the property. All wonderful places to park, walk and take in the sights. There are numerous neighborhood gem restaurants to try within a short walk of the house. Thai food, Italian, steakhouses and coffee houses. All small family owned and wonderful. If you are looking for a couples place to stay and don't need to cook this is your spot although he will let you use the kitchen if you are determined to.
A big thank you Terry for making our stay memorable and for being a kind gentleman.

Highly Recommended
Terry is great to talk too and a gracious host. Room was just what I needed, and it was easy to get to the beach when needed. Everything you need is a 10 minute walk away (bars, restaurants, Publix, etc.) Will definitely return next year.
