About this house rental
Dizzying views of the Hudson River! Sweet cabin modest in scale, simple and pure to not detract from the richness of the views, offering a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner in 2017. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees; the knotty pine interior was locally sourced. Friends gifted a claw foot tub and historic farm house sink. Enjoy a hot tub experience in our new Japanese spa!
The living room offers incredible views of the Hudson River and the meadow below. There are leaded glass windows in the bay window, a large comfortable vintage sofa and simple decorations. The bedroom offers a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the Hudson River. There is an antique vanity with vessel sink, antique oriental rugs and Asian artwork. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower hoop and glass vessel sink. There is plenty of hot water, towels and soap. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, fridge, microwave and sink. There are beautiful copper pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware.
This beautiful cabin is located hundreds of feet above the Hudson River and offers dizzying views and great privacy. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. Enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson River, a cedar forest and wildflower meadow.
There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution.
Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book.
Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. From six to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. Let us know if you plan to join us.
Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color.
As for things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such.
A great deal of thought and energy went into planning this cabin. Like a tree grabbing a roothold in the slope, reaching down for water and minerals and arching up toward the available sunlight, a house must begin and grow from its site. When the design of a house has grown out of the uniqueness of the site, it will seem as natural and as integral a part of the whole as trees are a part of the forest. When the house becomes a part of the land, the site can be fully inhabited.
This property is located at the end of a quiet country road and abuts forty acres of land owned by your host where we offer glamping tents and two other cabins. Please take a look at these listings and reviews to get a better sense of what we offer. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC.
If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you.
MORE HISTORY: Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost. When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxon Mountain and the Hudson River below.
Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters.
I had an amazing winter of 2016 and 2017 building this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as I spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."

Amazing and so quiet
This was one of the best stays of my life. It was so quiet that at times all I heard was wind or birds. The cabin was so clean and well kept, the bed so comfortable, there is no ac but it was not needed with the windows open. The bright red Adirondack chairs in the grass were the perfect spot to sit and breath in fresh air while my pugs ran and played. Plenty of dishware and pots in the kitchen and I just spent hours gazing out the windows, from my bedroom or the den. I hope I can return one day. Do follow the directions 100% as I didn’t see the road directly beside the volunteer fire station and went to the next road (dirt). Also, have your directions ahead of time as there is no cellphone coverage there, but once in the cabin the wife was great. I hope I can return one day. Say Auger falls and Griffin falls nearby. Met the most amazing man at a shop (Northern Hospitality) in nearby Wells. That is a delightful town and worth a trip. Ask for Lee at the shop and he will give you a tour.

The property is secluded and quiet. The cabin is nicely appointed, cozy, and has everything you need. We cooked all of our own meals on site, so we did not need to find places to eat, but North Creek is a quick drive and has plenty of options. The views are lovely from the large cabin windows, as well as when you are sitting in the back behind the cabin. There are nice Adirondack chairs arranged around a fire ring. Firewood is provided, you just have to message the owners and they will let you know where to pick it up. You might want to bring some newspaper and a pack of firestarter sticks. This made fire starting so much easier than looking for kindling. Overall, it was a beautiful stay.

Cozy mountain getaway close to outdoor activities
Very cozy small house, well equipped with everything you might need for a vacation - comfortable bed and living area, clean bathroom (with big bath tub), pots, pans, oil and a few spices for cooking. Great view of the Hudson, short walk to the Japanese hot tub which is well worth a visit. Quick ride to great skiing. We will happily return here.

Camp Hudsonview
The views out the rear windows are wonderful and the spot couldn't have been more picturesque. Leslie always responded quickly to any inquires and we got to hangout with her sweet dog Sammie in a light snow while outside for our final campfire of the trip. The spa was a great treat after 2 days of climbing mountains. I look forward to returning in the future.

Cozy Cabin with Amazing Views
The views are incredible and this new cabin has everything you could need to ensure a very comfortable stay. We stayed for 2 nights on our way home from a week in Vermont and it was a wonderful way to wrap up our vacation. The bed was very comfortable (and we are picky- always travel with our Aerobeds as backup!), the towels were soft, and the shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water (another thing we've learned not to take for granted in rentals). The kitchen was very well appointed, and even though there was already a wine opener in the silverware drawer, Leslie put a spare on top of the counter for us in plain view after I'd texted her inquiring whether there was one because ours had broken earlier in our trip. The Adirondack chairs outside were the perfect spot to sit and take in the incredible views whether over morning coffee or an evening bonfire. We look forward to visiting again and exploring more of the area.

I loved this cabin! Bohemian elegance in the most beautiful of settings!
We had a most enjoyable visit to the Adorondikes, made unforgettable by our time on this property. Leslie has a real talent, the cabins are artistic, charming and comfortable. The views are magnificent. I loved it there, and we hope to come back someday soon!

Amazing new cabin with even better views
The cabin was everything we were hoping for and then some! Fully stocked with all necessities. Perfect location with great views of the adks and Hudson River. The only thing we heard all weekend were the animals and water flowing in the creek below the property. Leslie was great to deal with and responds immediately with any questions you may have. They also provide a lengthy list of local things to do, eat, hike around the area. We will return next year, no doubt about it.
