About this cottage rental
ABOUT THE COTTAGE
This renovated timber cottage is an original mill cottage from the 1920's situated in the Dwellingup Heritage Precinct. It now has a modern kitchen, in addition to the original wood stove/oven, and a modern bathroom/laundry.
KITCHEN: There is a 6 seater dining table and chairs in the kitchen area. The kitchen is extremely well equipped including dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, Nepresso coffeee pod machine and a great selection of cooking utensils. The pantry contains bare essentials including tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper and oil. To minimize food contamination and being observant of Health Standards, we provide some individual sachets of jam, and peanut butter, honey and a tube of vegemite. Please use with discretion and supply cannot be guaranteed if items are used before being able to replenish.
BATHROOM / LAUNDRY: The large modern bathroom also houses the washing machine & dryer. Washing powder is provided. There is a 2nd toilet separate to the main bathroom.
LOUNGE: A wood- fired heater in the lounge area makes winter very cozy in addition to reverse cycle air conditioning for either cooling or heating. Seating comprises a 3 - 4 seater lounge and 2 single lounge chairs. Extra chairs from the kitchen or bedroom can be used if required. A TV and DVD player are available with a range of DVD's. There are some games available for use also.
BEDROOMS: Two bedrooms have queen size beds and the 3rd bedroom has 2 single beds. Bedroom 3 has its own cooling airconditioning unit and an oil heater for winter. The others have ducted reverse cycle airconditioning and ceiling fans and all bedroom windows are screened to allow opening without risk of flies or mosquitoes. Each QS room has a tall boy chest of drawers and back bedroom has a blanket storage box.
Bedrooms also have blackout curtains, &/or blinds.
BED LINEN, TOWELS and TEATOWELS are provided. Please note that as of winter 2025, (1st June until 31 Aug), we ask that, if able, guests please bring their own bath towels. This is to help reduce the extra time and cost of drying required during winter. If towels are provided during this time, there will be a charge of $5 per bath towel.
FRONT VERANDAH: From the north facing front verandah, you can sit and look across to a small area of virgin bush and watch and listen to the many birds (including splendid fairy wrens, robins, honeyeaters, kookaburras and many others) which visit the garden and surrounding area. It is the perfect spot to unwind and relax. Our 2 birdbaths in the front garden attract many birds who love to drink and bathe in the morning and later afternoon. Check out our photo gallery to see some wonderful photos of some of the birds that visit our yard. These were taken by one of our guests, Sheila R who visited in May 2024.
The property is fully enclosed and the back yard is fairly large, ideal for young children to run around in. The wooden shed in the backyard is available for storing bikes if required and is kept locked. A key for the padlock is on the key ring which you will have access to.
The cottage is 200 metres from the State forest where there are many walking trails and access to mountain bike riding tracks. It is approx. 5 mins walk to the centre of town.
Our cottage is only 10 minutes drive from Nanga Bush Camp at Lane Poole Reserve, which is popular for weddings. The Baden Powell area within Lane Poole Reserve has a terrific swimming area, also very suitable for kayaking /canoeing.

My husband, two year old and in laws have a lovely stay in the home. Clean, convenient, and lovely. A warm fire, beautiful big yard and comfortable rooms.

Property was excellent, had everything we needed. Very clean, fire in lounge was great, had an A/C for extra convenience. Will definitely stay here again.

Exceptionally clean gorgeous little cottage. RC air and wood heater kept us warm on some cold days and nights. Well stocked with everything you need and some very thoughtful inclusions in the pantry. Short walk to town and well located for trails access. 2 nights not long enough.

The Woodcutter's Cottage experience was everything we hoped for. We'll be back.

We entered the cottage with the expectation that it would be a lot smaller than it was. To our (happy) surprise, there was space galore! While the house is old, it has been well maintained. And with all the appliances and conveniences provided (including the slow combustion wood fire place), we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our 3-night visit.

Had a great time exploring with mountain bike ride and bush walks not far away.
The cottage was a cosy home away from home lots of birds in the front garden ,well equipped kitchen although we didn't cook much and comfortable bed .
Owners were very good with communicating and sorted out early check-in.
Would highly recommend a 15 /20 minute walk to winetree cider ( take a torch to walk home in winter)

The property is cosy and very well presented and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We loved the front verandah and the garden, such a beautiful place to sit with a coffee or wine and watch the bird life and admire the trees. Soooo very relaxing, even with a 3 year old as part of the group.

A cozy, neat cottage, bringing back memories of the olden days. Everything needed was there and more. The upkeep of the garden was outstanding in the area. We enjoyed sitting on the front veranda. Very enjoyable.

Had a great stay we enjoyed the quiet still amazed by the night sky .....we don't see clear sky's like this at home ...the town or is it a village not sure ...it had everything we could need and we made use of the community bar /restaurant ...it was a short walk down to from the property. No WiFi so a walk to the information center was not a problem. We spent a lot of time sitting on the veranda.

Beautiful heritage cottage with lots of space. Very well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities. Lovely verandah to read or enjoy a beverage on. Close walk to town centre past kangaroo sanctuary. A lovely calm spot to unwind after a frantic year (super comfy bed in master bedroom too!). Thanks Sue and Brian for a lovely stay.
NB quite a few places in town shut between Xmas and New Year including Forest Heritage centre and 2 x cafes, and railway only runs on weekends, but plenty of nature based activities including Lane Poole reserve nearby. Bike park in town kept kids active too.

Loved the old timber workers cottage that has been restored lovingly and authentically, down to retaining the old concrete base of the dunny!
Everything was provided for the convenience and comfort of guests, including pantry items excessive to needs. The cottage was immaculate, the beds clean and comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots, glasses etc.
The cottage setting was close to town centre yet quiet and peaceful. Pleasant garden with ample bird life.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Thank you for the use of your holiday home Sue and Brian.

The cottage was just perfect. Sue and Brian have equipped it very well, and we really appreciated the little touches like having some kitchen basics and things like kitchen foil available without having to bring it all with us! Everything is well maintained, the beds are comfy and so on. We will likely stay again!

A delightful cottage nestled in a pretty flower-filled garden and surrounded by other weatherboard cottages, this was a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The owners have gone to great lengths to anticipate our every need - from firewood and kindling to comfy cushion-filled cane chairs for resting on the peaceful verandah with a cuppa. Birdsong is the only sound in this quiet street and all the gardens nearby were bursting with spring bulbs - a beautiful sight. We loved our stay here and would recommend it highly.

We enjoyed the amenities and the location was lovely. No complaints at all. Wood fire was a real treat and kept us snug - as did the aircon in the rest of the house. The front veranda was glorious - plenty of room, enjoyed watching the small birds, streetscape lovely with big trees, peaceful neighborhood. Booking was very straightforward. All our needs were taken care of.
Recommend Woodcutters Cottage.

We loved our short weekend stay. The home was cosy and warm despite the freezing temps! Communication was good with very quick responses. The home had so many little extra's that is not usual - soaps, candles, torches, plenty of wood, essential pantry items, coffee pods, games, kitchen useful such as foil. We will definitely be back :)

We found the cottage to be a real home away from home. Quaint and cosy from a bygone era, but with many modern conveniences as well. The cottage had everything one would want or need. Love the cosy lounge room with the slow combustion fire & fan assisted! The bed was warm and comfortable in a spacious room.
Full credit to the owners - we would recommend to anyone who is considering staying in Dwellingup.
Thank You.

Absolutely lovely cottage, cosy and very comfortable. Very well appointed with everything you need. We were a family of 6 aged between 10 and 76 and was perfect for all our needs. Lovely veranda to sit and watch the birds with a cuppa in the morning. Cottage is close enough to town that we could easily walk (including dad on his mobility scooter). Short drive into the national park and close to the mountain bike tracks for hubby and daughter. Would definitely recommend!

We spent two nights in this cosy cottage, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage was spotless, is walking distance into the township of Dwellingup, and close to the Jarrahfall Bush Camp, where we attended a wedding. It is superbly fitted out with everything one would need for a comfortable holiday - especially the kitchen, making meal preparation so easy. Communication with the owners was quick and reliable. We would definitely stay here again, and would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

We stayed in the cottage as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) with 3 bedrooms being available. This is an older cottage but equipped with modern kitchen and bathrooms with 2 toilets and all the needed appliances including dishwasher, washing machine and a dryer making the stay for a family very comfortable. Some food was also available; such as oil, salt, sugar, rice, flour plus selection of teas which was a nice bonus. The cottage is positioned in a quiet area next to other houses and about 10 mins walk to the Dwellingup town, also perfect base for mountain bike and walking trails. The bedrooms have blackout blinds as well as curtains which make the rooms pretty dark, ideal for good sleep. Sue and Brian were very responsive and we would definitely stay again.
