Solar de Magoito is a unique place of leisure and well-being. Located in the Sintra/Lisbon coast and set within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Magoito is a village located on Sintra's coast : Magoito is a small village located on Sintra’s coast and within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. 10km away from Sintra’s historic center (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Sintra’s coast is characterized by a wood vegetation of Mediterranean Stone-pine. The strong patch of these tree canopies, seen from a high point, dazzles by his imposing green close to the blue of the sea.
Its closeness to the capital (Lisbon), to the enchanting Cascais town and near the romantic Sintra (UNESCO World Heritage Site) makes possible an endless activities program. From the inexhaustible historical patrimony, (palaces, castles, museums, etc.), to the fantastic program of artistic and sport events taking place throughout the whole year between Sintra/Cascais/Lisbon, Magoito is without doubt a place of enchantment.
Solar de Magoito: From Solar de Magoito comes in sight, on the horizon, the contour of Sintra’s Mountain with the Pena Palace on top. This palace’s park has a fantastic and exuberant flora with species from the various continents of the globe.
This coast’s beaches are followed by magnificent cliffs of sedimentary rock formations. Magoito is located in the North zone of this littoral, enjoying a dazzling view of all the beaches that extend to Cabo da Roca (Continental Europe’s westernmost point). The Lisbonians, from the beginning of the twentieth century, and most recently the international tourism, elected this region as a holiday destination.
The mild climate, the very rich flora, the fantastic beaches, the regional gastronomy and closeness to the distinct geographical and cultural realities of the Sintra/Cascais/Lisbon - gold triangle - makes this a delightful area for those who visit it.

Beautiful property, had a great time and the host was extremely welcoming. We did have a little bit of an issue with hot water for the showers but the host gave us plenty of free wine and bread as an apology. Would highly recommend.

I stayed with a group of 15!!!
It was perfect … calm, clean and beautiful!
Manuel was a very gracious host!
Can’t recommend enough!

Three generations, age 20 to 82, stayed for 6 nights. Good location. Large, very private grounds. Roomy and beautiful interior. Great restaurants nearby (Restaurant Central in Colares, Retiro do Saloio, Moinho Iberica). Grandchildren loved tennis courts, fitness center, ping pong table. pool table, and the pool. The pool house was super for an evening in. Host was very accommodating and gave us bottles of his favorite local wines to try. Had problems with the ac which resulted in in the host opening an extra room for us.. My only nit is that in a humid climate, guests should get more than one bath towel per week.

We stayed at Manuel's home to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and our experience more than exceeded our expectations and my parents had a lifetime experience. Thank you Manuel

Beautifully, gated grounds with many unique flowers and trees associated to the region, enjoyed by 5 couples. Very large pool house for entertaining. Chef Jose is awesome to hire for an evening!

This property was just as described...and a little bit better! I could write pages about it. We had 10 people aged 10-74. We used the main house, and a cottage for sleeping. The pool was a bit cold as we were there the first week of May and the weather hadn't warmed up yet, however we still spent most of our time at the pool house as it has wonderful big tables & a kitchen. We had Chef José come to prepare two yummy dinners - a birthday party & a meal the night before we left. The charm of the house is amazing. The low doorways did lead to a few bumped heads as we are all tall. It is a historic home so if you need a stand-up shower in every room and want unlimited towels etc, you need to understand that this is a breathtaking historic property, and not an American hotel. The photos do not do it justice- it is beautiful.
A car is a must in my opinion if you want to see the numerous sites around the area. There are parking spots right inside this gated property, and the surrounding roads are a fun adventure. We could have scheduled more time here and not run out of things to do and see. Manuel was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend this amazing property!

We had a wonderful stay. We were three families with kids ranging from 8-15. The grounds provided a fantastic playground for both the adults and kids. While the weather wasn’t ideal we still managed to enjoy the tennis court, both pools, gym and ping pong table.
Manuel was a great host and provided excellent recommendations for food and activity. We took advantage of the private chef Jose for a breakfast and dinner which was great.
The location is perfect for exploring the beaches and going to Sintra to explore the castles.

We had a wonderful time and Manuel was an extremely accommodating host. We were a group of friends with one young child. The only issue that arose was there were some ants in one of the rooms, which isn’t surprising for a country house. Manuel opened another room for us free of charge. Thanks for accommodating!

Sometimes pictures on the internet don’t tell the true story but in this case the reality was better. It’s beautiful and an ideal accomodation for a large group. Manuel is an excellent host. I highly recommend it.

Quiet and spacious property where a multi generation group could mix and do their own thing too.
Easy access to beaches, restaurants and Sintra.
Hosts were very helpful and non intrusive.
Altogether a fine place to be.

We spent the week here with our family with 3 generations, fantastic place and very friendly and accommodating host! The pictures don’t do full justice to the property, it is a very spacious estate with plenty of opportunities. Thank you Manuel!

For our family of three generations this property and location had everything we needed. Set in a lovely quiet location and close enough to beautiful beaches and towns it was just great. The owners were totally welcoming and entirely helpful in every way. The whole place was clean and very neat and tidy. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The property was as described, the house was well equipped and there were many things to do on the grounds (tennis, pool, tabletennis, billiards etc).
The owner was friendly and helpful.
Het house is spacious and beautifully renovated, combining old charm with modern elements. The only reason for not giving the place 5 stars was that the many quirks and odd flow made the place somewhat impractical - in particular, the majority of the doors are not high enough for tall people to walk through, so it made it awkward for us to move around the house.

Wonderful experience with 3 generations! 2 parents, 3 children and their spouses and 5 grandchildren 13 total. More than enough space! The pool house served as the base for communication and celebration. More than enough dishes and silverware for large meals. The beaches were #1 on everyone's list of favorite things to do. Uber's were always available. A great time was had by all! Manuel is a great host!

A gorgeous property to be enjoyed with friends and family - the pool house, gardens and manor were impeccable. Manuel our host was absolutely perfect. He arranged an amazing personal chef, Jose and a van-driver to transport our group to another beach further away from the house. Can’t wait to go back again!

We had a 93 year old, an 11 month old, and everything in between on our stay. We felt extremely comfortable on the property & were amazed by everything available to us on site. Would highly recommend

It was a great property! Very clean, pool house. We had chef Jose cook us dinner, that was great! The big pool was chilly in May and the heated pool was not really hot and quite small so that was not really al place to hang out. The ambiance of the place was authentic and overall a great place to hang out!

The house was wonderful and Manuel is an excellent host - but let me tell you about the chef, Jose. You MUST hire this man. Not only is he an amazingly skilled chef but he has menus that are so thoughtfully and artfully prepared (every dish is instagram-worthy).
He chooses wines that pair well with each dish and he walks you through everything he serves you - where it's from, how it's made, sometimes its history. We ate things like tomato jam cheesecake that don't sound appetizing in theory, and yet we all asked for the recipe and I bought a jar of tomato jam at the airport because I'm absolutely going to try recreating it at home.
We had guests with dietary restrictions and Jose managed to alter their dishes so that they still were able to have what everyone else had. It was better than eating at a restaurant. Frankly, this man should open a restaurant.
Manuel is also wonderful, very communicative and the house is even better in person than in the pictures.
You will like this house. And you will love Jose.

We were a group of 3 families with kids. We loved the property! The kids could safely run and play on the grounds. The house was beautiful and authentically Portugal! Driving into the gates felt like an escape. The property is a great location to explore many different small towns and Lisbon. Manuel was a gracious host extending a warm welcome to his home. He was very attentive to our needs during our stay and gave us local insights into places to visit and eat. We used chef, Jose Serrano for 2 delicious breakfasts. We also highly recommend chef Bruno Kaizen for dinner. He made some of the best food we have ever tasted. Bruno treated us to culinary masterpieces we won’t soon forget. Bruno and Lucas were a highlight of our trip to the amazing country of Portugal! A lovely home, scrumptious food and a stunning country. We miss you Portugal!! ❤️

The property exceeded our expectations for our extended family vacation; three families from Norway, California, and NYC were able to spend a fantastic week at the villa. The property is quite large so there was plenty of space and never felt crowded with 14 of us. We took advantage of the pool, tennis court, ping pong table, pool table, and several nearby beaches. Thank you for such a wonderful stay in Portugal!

The manor was perfect for our party of 8. Manuel greeted us upon arrival and was available when we had questions and wanted recommendations for nearby attractions. Loved the pool, pool house, grounds and tennis court. Amazing beach is 5 minutes away and castles in Sintra can be reached in a short 15 min. drive. We hired chef Jose on tow occasions and enjoyed lovely fireside dinners.
Thank you Manuel!

Wonderful property, great garden, swimming pool with fully utilised pool house. Used the tennis court intesively. Easy access to nearby beach.

We booked the property before the COVID crisis. We decided to go ahead and Manuel the property owner was very helpful and accommodating. We could not have asked for more. The property exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. In particular the pool house and pool area were brilliant and we tended to use this for all our meals. Tennis, table tennis, pool table were all well used. We took our bikes and explored some amazing routes. Beaches were stunning and local restaurants were top quality and great value. .

As a family, twelve of us, including a six month old baby, stayed at Solar do Magoito for one week. We all appreciated, enjoyed and valued the experience very much. The facilities cater for all ages and tastes. Several members of our party took advantage of the tennis court and hired a superb coach, recommended by Manuel, for tennis lessons throughout the week. We also booked a chef for four nights. Also, as a matter of interest, Uber taxis were readily available for hire.
The design and attention to detail of all the rooms and site were second to none.
Manuel and his family were helpful, welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Thank you for making this a tremendous family holiday for all concerned.
3.0
The grounds at the property are impeccable. Mature tree and many activities to do inside the compound such as ping pong, gym, pool, walks, tennis etc. The kitchens were almost impossible to cook at. The inductions rangers turn off sporadically or you have to reset them yourself. No salt , pepper, sugar or any herbs left behind from other visitors to be found. Knives are dull/cheap and cutting boards are very small to cook for 15 people. The owner of the property showed up unannounced several times making it rather difficult to have privacy for the guests. The chapel was locked although owner allowed us to see it once while they were cleaning. The soaking tub is not heated so it is unpleasant to use at night when you would want to relax. Besides these minor things, the property is absolutely gorgeous and I would recommend. However if you are a foodie and would like to cook from the bounty of the Portuguese basket you may be disappointed and frustrated. It may be best to ask the owner to have certain things that you may absolutely require. The owner is nice and he gives you very useful information at check in.

Our multi-generation family (ages 15-80) stayed in this beautiful villa. Property was clean, grounds were beautifully maintained and house was equipped with everything we needed. The villa is situated perfectly for day trips to Lisbon, Belem, Fatima, Nazare, and Sintra. The beaches within walking and driving distance were stunning. The villa is a wonderful place to relax after sight seeing in Portugal or playing on the beach. The swimming pool, tennis courts, ping pong table, billiards table and quiet nooks for reading were enjoyed by our family. Manuel was a wonderful host and provided information about shopping and restaurants nearby. He was always available to answer questions and easy to communicate with. The villa has architectural details unique to Portugal. We highly recommend the Manor House for your next trip to Portugal.

Excellent well maintained property in spacious grounds. Plenty of accommodation for our group of 13 adults and children. Not luxurious but perfectly comfortable and we felt it represented decent value for money. Lovely pool and poolhouse adjacent to a good BBQ area which meant we could all eat together in an inside/outside setting. Secure site for the young kids with us. Play area with slide and swing, table tennis, a good full size tennis court and a pool table inside. Nice rural environment but with a lovely beach and Sintra both within easy reach. Everybody, adults and kids, had a good time
5.0
Manuel showed us around this stunning property built by his family and lovingly restored to its former glory. Full of priceless restored architectural features, truly like you step back in time but with all the comforts of today’s world. Great pool and pool house, so
Many activities and areas to be explored without ever leaving the property. Amazing diversity of plant life with fruit trees, canopy and native flowers. Views throughout the property of the coastline, Sintra and the lighthouse at Cabo da Roca. Cons: Immediate neighborhood not the greatest. Area not very walkable. Pros: Minutes to Sintra and a gorgeous local quiet beach, but also 40 mins from Lisbon and 30 mins to Cascais or Ericeira! Explore!
5.0
The property is beautiful and very well taken care of, a great place to spend a few days with family or friends.
Something that could be improved:
Minimal supplies are cleaned out as you move out, which means you have to buy absolutely everything when you get in (toilet paper, salt, spices, washing soap, paper towels...) This hasn't been our experience when renting other properties, as most non-perishable basic supplies are available.
10.0
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. This beautifully maintained walled-estate has everything you could need to relax: lovely grounds, pool & hot tub, side-by-side stone BBQs, a quick walk to the beach, and enough lodging space to get away from everyone!
Manuel, who greeted us, is very gracious and helpful. Speaking good English, he is a good source for things to see and do.
The house is very close walking distance into town for restaurants and there is a grocery store very near with everything you could need.
The kitchen is modern and complete with all necessary appliances/tools for cooking (but you will need to provide your own food, herbs, spices, condiments, etc.). Each house had plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery, etc for us (there were 11 of us, but I feel this property could easily handle many more).
The floors to our bathroom were heated (!) which was a joy as the Spring mornings were cool and there was a heated towel rack. There were many heaters spread around the house.
The house is very traditionally decorated with gorgeous tile work on the walls & floors, and lovely wood paneling.
Laundry was easy and although there was a dryer function, we hung our clothes in the sun to dry very quickly.
We used this as a base for many day trips to see Sintra, Lisbon, Ericeira, Cabo de Roca & many others including as drive up to Porto.
Check out was not rushed: we were allowed to take as long as we needed. Manuel was always available throughout our stay by phone/email to answer our many questions. His friendly nature ensured we all enjoyed a relaxing vacation.
This is the place!

We visited Manuels beautifull House with 14 people, mainly adults. We really enjoyed the houses and the poolhouse was a great central area for everyone. The area is very nice as well and Manuel took good care of us a great Holiday thanks again!

Thanks for making us feel so welcome Manuel, a fantastic host

Huge property with all the things we needed to have a great stay. Swimmingpool a bit cold. Nice rooms, very clean.

The website photos and description understate this property.
A group of 13 adults stayed here for a week ( a week is not long enough) mostly relaxing by the pool. The villa grounds are spacious. The facilities are first class and Manuel the owner is always on hand to provide advice as to where to eat or visit.
We would have no hesitation in booking again
Thank you Manuel.

We were a group of 4 families with 11 people inklusive kids. It was a amazing time in a really beautiful location. The listed description of the property correlated perfect regarding the location. Everything was very clean and well-maintained with much love of detail. Manuel as owner did a great job and was very helpful with a lot of useful tips. At this time I would thank Manuel for a great time. Thanks for all and all the best!

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of July. It is a perfect venue for a holiday with mixed aged groups and interests, we were 8 people aged 14 to 80 yrs in the main house. Beautiful spacious garden, great pool, well maintained tennis court. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. The pool house was great, with its own kitchen.. The villa is situated within an easy walk to the centre of the village with cafes bars and a couple of excellent small shops., some of us hiked on the nearby well- marked paths, we did a bit of site- seeing. Manuel was very helpful. Would definitely recommend!

We were a family group of 10, including young children, and stayed here for a week. We booked the main manor house and the two annexes. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are amazing and finished to a high standard so no-one feels like they have the poor room. It has a really well equipment kitchen. The grounds are fabulous, secure, extensive and well maintained.
We particularly loved the pool area and pool house, spending a lot of our time there. It is well laid out to accommodate everyone's requirements.
The location was great as we could get to the beach easily and some went off for trips to Sintra and Lisbon. The area is residential with a local supermarket, shops and cafes.
Manuel was helpful, very friendly and easily contactable.
We all absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it to other families or groups of friends.
10.0
From the moment we arrived Manuel was excellent. Helpful and friendly.
The property is bigger than it looks in the photos, there's loads to do (table tennis, tennis, pool, plunge pool, pool table, BBQ), and loads of space. Plus a stunning beach just about walkable, and the little town with all the necessities easily walkable. Unfortunately we were only there for 3 days, I wish it was a week. Everything is fitted out really well for large groups of any age, it's so flexible.
Thank you Manuel, for an unforgettable weekend.
