Relaxing and enjoyable place to spend a night

The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a cycle and they locked it away safe for me. As I was leaving early Tom got up extra early. The hotel is spotless and has a great nights sleep

Good location. Comfortable. Lovely venue. The outside space was something else.

Information about breakfast would have helped, though not really a problem once I worked it out. Not sure where to leave key when I left so kept in room door.

Pleasant

The staff was fine .very poor breakfast .i dont mind continetal one cheese that was like a slice of plastic .no butter when i came down and the cold ham was poor .definatly need to improve there breakfast other people was also dissapointed .location fine and room was average .not good value for price .

Enjoyed our stay at the Dolphin and would definitely stay there again.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was good, large and the bathroom was good as well. Parking excellent. Breakfast was lovely and fresh, plenty to choose from.

Probably could have done with a bit more storage, a couple of drawers.

Clean and central quirky historical building .

Nice and clean. Friendly & efficient staff,central location.

Lacked basics in room,no drawers at all.Only 2 bedside tables. No wardrobes or clothes rail only coat hooks and no hangers. Bar shut at 10pm although it was a pub and no drinks for residents also.

Pleasant and relaxing stop

Pleasant staff, nice food, good choice of wines

The room felt a little cramped but the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast a bit underwhelming. Only soya milk for example. No-one around to assist.

Really liked the pub ,our room and Newbury ,we had tea and cake at a little tearoom by river.

Self service continental breakfast ,plenty of variety ,no probs with it .Pub is in a good location ,easy to walk into town .Town attractive with river and canal walks .Pub authentic and ancient but well modernised .Good parking .Walk to river /canal and find the tearoom there for tea and cake

It was hot when we stayed and old places don't have air conditioning but a fan was provided and we left the window open .Floors in bedrooms upstairs not level because of age of building ,no probs for us but if unsteady on feet maybe could be a nuisance for some people .

we had a lovely stay the staff were amazing, and if anyone is going racing this is the prime place to stay, it only cost

on the high street and close to train station and Resturant so the evening even though the pub food looked good

Faultless - well done to the team at the Dolphin. Keep up the good work and the great food!

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was very good. Check in/out was easy. So convenient for the train station. Room was excellent, warm. Overlooked main street, but Newbury is quiet at night, so no issue. The best thing about the Dolphin is the food. I had steak and it was all done to perfection and excellent value. They also have deals on like two for one in the week. Will definitely use this as a base for future stays in Newbury!

I like a cooked breakfast but it doesn't hurt my waistline to go without now and again! So no complaints there.

Ideal location for a comfy night's sleep

We were made to feel very welcome and all the staff were lovely. The room was clean and the bed super comfy. The location was ideal for exploring Newbury and for the races.

We didn't realise when we booked that there was only continental breakfast, but there was still plenty of choice with juice, cereals, bread croissants and cold meats and cheese.

very lovely clean rooms. Happy courteous staff. glass water bottles. lovely towels and linens. comfy bed and a big tv. breakfast was good.

including a plain yogurt at breakfast would be nice. but the fresh fruit and oatmeal, cereals and baked goods were lovely as I do not like allot sugary breakfast items. so we’ll done!

This is a mid-range town pub/inn but good staff meant our stay was a lot better than we expected

The member of bar staff, who also handled our reception, was efficient, well-mannered, well-informed and helpful. The room was a good size, comfortable enough and clean. The location was good for our purposes, short flat walk to the main shopping streets, good for pre-Christmas festivities in the town centre. Easy 25 min walk to the racecourse.

We stayed on an evening when England were playing France so the pub was full and noisy. But we were found a relatively quiet corner to drink and relax and our room was in a quieter part of the inn.
