Our family of 4 (including 2 young adults) very much enjoyed our stay.
The location on the water was wonderful - for views all times of the day, relaxing on the deck or dock, and access for kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and swimming. Island Pond Lake is beautiful and clean, with a sandy bottom and very few weeds.
The location was also great for easy access to the businesses in the town of Island Pond. Having a nearby town center with a few restaurants, shops, and a grocery store was a nice convenience that many of the towns in Northeast Kingdom don't offer. It was also close to great mountain biking in Burke and to many hiking trails.
The house fit our needs well. The living room and dining area was very comfortable. We cooked about half of our meals and found the kitchen to be well stocked, including lots of good quality ceramic non-stick pans, plenty of dishes, and a dishwasher. The table on the main deck was perfect to seat 4 for dinner. There were plenty of beds for our family of 4.
The upstairs bedrooms were a bit small for the size beds they held and the downstairs bedrooms were down a steep flight of stairs from the bathroom. But those were minor inconveniences, considering the positives that the house held.
Although there are many beds, especially in one of the downstairs bedrooms, the house seems best suited for 4 or 5 people. More that that may get too crowded in the main living area and tiny bathroom.
Overall, the place was great. We'd return.

My family & I absolutely loved the lakeside cottage! There were 6 of us and we had plenty of room. There is one bathroom, but it met all our needs. When we wanted to communicate with the owner he was very reachable and accommodating. There are two beds on the first floor/main level and there are three beds on the lower level. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had all newer full size appliances. We spent most of our time outside on the water - we were lucky that the weather was beautiful. The lake water was very clear and warm to swim in. We rented paddleboards and a kayak from Clyde River Recreation. They dropped everything off the morning of our arrival and they picked everything up the morning we left. It was a great option to have available. If you’re someone who needs ac, there’s one window ac unit and it completely cooled off the whole main floor. Island Pond is a very small town. There isn’t too much in the town, but you can address all necessities. There’s one small grocery store, a Dollar General and a few small restaurants to eat-in or take-out…nothing fancy, but good. Quick drive to Canada, Newport VT and hiking trails-if you are looking to get about. And/or if you are an easy going family looking to just chill, relax and be on the water, you’ll love it!

Our family had an amazing week at this charming lake house. Waking up to the loons while drinking coffee on the deck was almost as awesome as watching the sunsets at night. The owner was very receptive and informative. On a rainy day, the inside was cozy with the same incredible view from the living area. We would stay here again for sure!

Place is great. As described. Very comfortable with excellent access to the lake. Wonderful views. Lake itself is clear with sandy bottom. Only issue was the VRBO check-in link wasn’t working and the key box access code was wrong. Also the owner was not responding due to a health issue so we were stuck checking in and couldn’t access the key box. It eventually worked out and we had a great stay. We’d go back.

1. The inside of house was fairly clean. Beds and linens were great.
2. Stairs to the lower bedrooms were steep and narrow.
3.Being right on the water was truly wonderful. Lots of usable outdoor space on the porches which we really enjoyed.

Best location, right on the water, comfortable stay!
Waking up with the water in the center of your view is a feeling like no other. This house has been renovated nicely, is very comfortable and was overall lovely to stay in! The kitchen and other areas of the house are well stocked for your random stay needs, very thoughtful touches throughout. Thank you!

Small Cottage in Great Location
We enjoyed our stay! The location is great - directly on the water and only a couple of minutes from the sleepy town of Island Pond. The latter has a number of restaurants and a small grocery store. It is definitely a "cottage", closer to neighbors than pics indicate, and with the lower level being a bit musty and only one bathroom, so I would not recommend filling this cottage to the max. But for our family of four, it was a perfect size and the location can't be beat. The deck, where we ate all of our grilled meals, has a beautiful view of the lake. We brought kayaks, which we launched from the shore every day. There is a wonderful metal dock, which was great for loon watching, but could nicely accommodate a larger boat, and the lake has a public boat launch at the southern end. Straight across the lake were some nice sandy beaches on the island and the opposite shore, which were great for swimming. We stayed in July, and at that time of year, the lake is very busy on the weekends, but was wonderfully quiet during the week. The host, Jason, was very responsive to my texts, whenever I had any questions prior to, or during, our visit, although cell service at the cottage is not great. I often only got cell service (via T-mobile) when I was in the middle of the lake, or in certain places in town.

Great house, great location
It is a lovely lakeside house with a beautiful deck with wonderful views. The lake is very clean; we enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. The house is well equipped and exactly as described by the host. A second bathroom would have been helpful, otherwise great. Will definitely consider coming back!

We enjoyed the wonderful view from the deck and hearing the Loons at night. I definitely recommend renting paddle boards and kayaks from the nearby boat rental business that brings them to the house and picks them up. When we weren't swimming or on the lake, we hiked and biked. Our adult kids rock climbed too. The day it rained, we went to St. Johnsbury. It was a relaxing week in a beautiful spot.

Another great stay
We love this cottage and had another great stay here at the cottage. Love being right on the water. At Jason’s recommendation we rented kayaks from Clyde River recreation easiest rental ever they were delivered within an hour of calling and had them for the week. Hiking is near by and went on a bass fishing tour on Lake Memphremagog as well as Jay peak water park. Thank You Jason for such a great place to stay.

Nice Cottage; Great Location
Nicely updated cottage on pristine Island Pond. Checking in was a problem as the code did not work. I followed directions and called the phone number provided but it went to voice mail twice. I never heard from the owner for four days. Luckily there was an unlocked window we climbed through, otherwise we would have had to drive home. I got the new code on Wednesday! The camp kitchen was well stocked with a full sized refrigerator and easy to use gas stove. The outdoor grill was in excellent condition and we used it for every dinner. I would definitely recommend as a great summer get away but the communication could have been better.

Peaceful lake, so-so house
We had a great time in Island Pond, but the house was lacking in some essentials.
Pros: 1. Lovely quiet lake. If you are looking to get-away from it all, this is a good option.
2. Great wi-fi, no cell service for Verizon users, cable TV was fine.
3. We rented paddle boards from Clyde River outfitters and loved going out on them. We went swimming every day (had wonderful weather.)
4. We went to Parker's Pies for pizza and beer - fantastic!
5. We drove to Burlington and rented bikes and drove along the causeway - beautiful! Great restaurant in Burlington - Leunigs - highly recommend.
6. Great hiking, lovely backroads.
7. Brand new outdoor grill. We cooked on this every night.
8. The listing has incorrect outdoor furniture. There are no couches outdoors, but instead a table and 4 chairs. We ate outside every night and appreciated the table and chairs.
9. There is a window AC unit. We needed this every day except the last day.
Cons:
1. The "bedrooms" upstairs are not true rooms. We were fortunate to only have 4 people and used one of the so-called rooms to sleep, and the other one to set our suitcases out on the bed. Beds were comfortable, pillows sucked, rooms were hot but we had unusually warm weather for Vermont.
2. Only one bathroom for 4 people, nowhere to hang towels.
3. A smell like a dirty moldy rug in the basement. If you are sleeping in the basement, you get that, plus you have to climb the stairs to use the bathroom.
4. The stairs are not the easiest to maneuver, the light to go downstairs was iffy (it usually would not work.)
5. The kitchen it tight. It lacked some essentials. We cooked a lot and made do. Found Libby's Meat Market and got some great meat.
6. The common room/living room can comfortably accommodate 4 people. The dining table indoors is small (they say in the it large.) We never ate inside because it seemed cramped, plus we had outstanding weather so enjoyed the outdoor setting for meals.

Great lake-side get-away
We spent a very enjoyable vacation at this lovely lake-side home and took full advantage of what Island Pond had to offer. We loved that a kayak was included with the rental, and rented paddle boards from Clyde River recreation -- they delivered right to the dock. We also loved the proximity (~25 min.) to Kingdom Trails, which enabled us to enjoy both time on the water and on our mountain bikes. If you're into corn mazes, then a trip to the Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville is well worth the drive. All-in-all an active, but relaxing, family vacation!

Spectacular place to play and stay!!!
Beautifully decorated and clean. Enough beds for everyone, furniture was comfortable. The dock was perfect for our 22 foot boat to be tied up to for the week of tubing and sunset cruises (oh and picnic lunches at the island). Great BBQ grill, well stocked kitchen with dishes, pots and pans. Morning coffee on the deck as the fog rolled off the pond was as magical as the pink and orange sunsets we got every night!!

Mountains and Lake Best Rental Ever
Perfect spot on Island Pond to rent. Beautiful swimming and boating just down the steps. Great running around the lake and hiking 5 min drive away. The two floors were perfect for teenagers downstairs and the rest of us upstairs. WiFi excellent if you need to still work and decent cell service if needed too. We loved are stay and will definitely come back here. The house is in perfect condition beautifully decorated, wonderful porch furniture, fully stocked kitchen it has more than everything you need. Owners easy to get a hold of if needed. Love this place. 5 stars from both teenagers and adults!!

Relaxing Retreat
Property was clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated. Comfortable furniture inside and out. Despite having a week with some rain and clouds, we had a great time. We rented kayaks from Clyde's which were delivered right to the beach. Also recommend kayaking down Clyde River. The house has plenty of rafts, tubes, etc. and one kayak. It is a 5.5 mile bike ride around Island Pond (recommend clockwise for less hills!)
We enjoyed eating outside at Eastside in Newport, Orange Rind in East Burke and take-out at Jessie's Little Kitchen. The grill on the deck was great and kitchen was well stocked at the house. At night we had several bonfires by the beach (Bought a bundle of firewood down Head of the Pond Rd). It was great to have a big washer/drier, too.
The driveway is a bit steep, but easy to turn around at the bottom and there is parking spots up top, too.
We enjoyed this nicely updated cottage and hope to return.

A lovely stay on a beautiful lake
We had a wonderful stay in this clean, well-kept house directly on the shore of Island Pond (which is actually a lake with a beautiful island in the center). Everything you may need is supplied from fresh linens, kitchen items, and similar. Just bring what you need to stock the fridge and get ready to rest and relax, swim, and enjoy.
We brought our bikes and kayaks and spent the days swimming, sun bathing, biking, walking, paddling, and more. We were blessed with great weather and wonderful neighbors next door. We sat on the lakeshore enjoying a fire at night before settling in to rest, drifting off to the sounds of the waves rolling up on the lakeshore. Perfect.
From a booking and stay management perspective, the owners are very responsive to any communications, the check in process was easy and clear. Kayaks on site would be great as it took a bit to get ours to and from the water but otherwise we had everything we needed/wanted.

Peaceful and Comfortable
On the spur of the moment, we decided to look into alternatives to hotels in the area (work-related visit in Derby, VT) and chose this rental. It was worth the effort, and we loved every moment! Clean, updated, and very comfortable! Owner was responsive and accommodating. We highly recommend this property for a quiet getaway in the beautiful mountains of the Northern Kingdom of Vermont!

A1 and then some!
We had the most pleasant experience, everything was smooth from the booking of the reservation to the returning of the key. You walk in and right away, it feels homey. We loved the beach/lake vibe, the house was super clean, and plenty comfortable for rainy days. We didn't get to enjoy the much inviting deck, but we sure appreciated the beautiful new England views through this genious bay window that directly overlooks the lake.
Bottom line, rain or shine, it was an experience we hope to repeat!

"Is this Heaven?" no it's Vermont !
Island Pond is a beautiful Lake and a great little Vermont town, to visit inn northern Vermont. This house is in great shape, well taken care of and the owner is always available by phone to help if you need info or to answer questions. Fishing was better than we expected and the 30ft dock is really nice. The deck work on the back is the perfect spot to grill steaks and enjoy a fantastic view with great sunrises. Beautiful outdoor furniture. It was real pleasure to stay there.

Family Vacation
The place was beautiful! We had a great time kayaking, swimming at the beach and hiking. Would recommend to anyone.

Excellent Stay!
It’s not easy to accommodate myself and my 6 other friends, but Jason was very helpful, responsive, and willing to make sure my friends and I were comfortable on our annual vacation.
The house itself was very comfortable and clean, and the ability to stay on the dock and take in the views of the lake itself made for a fantastic and relaxing week! I would certainly recommend this house for anyone looking to go away with their friends (like myself) or for those looking to take the family to a beautiful lake house.
4.8
Lovely bay window in the living room overlooking the pond perfect for viewing morning sunrise!
Jason and Kaitlyn left a welcoming note along with homemade cinnamon buns and a bottle of wine. Instructions on what we needed to do and when were clear and concise (i.e. garbage removal, access). The house was clean and very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay and would definitely stay here again!
4.8
Nice overall stay - perfect for 4 adults with a couple of kids
The view is fantasatic.
Location perfect for the activities we've planned.
The cottage was confortable.
The porch on the lake is great.
When we arrived there was a bad odor in the cottage (mixte humidity and dog smell) but in half an hour with windows and doors open it was OK. We put humidifier on and it settle the problem. The coutchs were very unconfortable. There were a lot of things left in the frig and only 4 wine glass available. The inside pictures let us think that the living room and dinning made a large open area, which was not the case. Beds were confortable but the upstair bedroom were very small. With a little bit of love and attention, the cottage would be a place that we can surely recommand a love to come back.

Family of 6 loved it!
Very comfortable and well equipped for 3 adults- parents and grandmother- and 3 boys 12, 11, 8. The boys loved the cottage and kept saying so throughout the weekend. They constructed a complex LEGO set that we brought on the window seat overlooking the lake. It’s a perfect location and the view of the lake constantly changes. We saw especially beautiful sunrises and sunsets during our stay .Although it was unusually cold on the weekend we visited, and we couldn’t have meals outside or sit for long on the deck, we all loved the view and the decks. We cooked the fresh swordfish that we brought with us Friday on the huge grill on the deck and it worked very well. It’s so relaxing up here! Jason and Kaitlyn were thoughtful and gracious hosts so our arrival went smoothly and visit was stress-free.
