Wish we stayed longer, could walk to beaches, groceries - spacious and clean!

Lovely tidy villa. Nice pool and great outdoor eating area. Very close to the beach and lots of little extras which we usually have to buy. From basic condiments to pool and beach toys. Maarten is a very accommodating host for anything we needed. Highly recommended.

Our only regret is that we did not plan to stay longer. This is such an amazing villa -- impeccably clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and cozy. We enjoyed sitting by the pool, walking to the nearby beach and restaurants, and staying home to grill over the charcoal barbecue. Martin is a warm and friendly host. When can we come back?

Upon arrival the rain had worried us but when we viewed our accommodation we were cheered up. The villa is very spacious and Maarten had provided everything you could wish for to ensure your stay was enjoyable. The weather improved greatly and we were able to enjoy great BBQs in the new seating area not yet shown in the photos. The location is ideal but we would recommend a car for visiting the beautiful beaches such as Satuna and Aiqua Blava. The two double beds were comfortable and singles would be suitable for children. We had to put two singles together which was not ideal but not every group needs three doubles. Would highly recommend this property.

The villa is modern and stylishly furnished/equipped. The accommodation has a great design/layout for indoor/outdoor living with full length doors facing onto a seating area and private pool.
The garden is very private and has a separate dining area and bbq.
The location in a central residential area is ideal for parties who wish to be within a short stroll to one of the many beaches or restaurants.
Maarten was welcoming and helpful.
We had a terrific week and can very much recommend the villa.

The main impression I had of Tarongers which is not conveyed by the photo’s I had seen, was SPACE. This is a big house ! Our party which should have been a group of eight people had been whittled down to three, my recently widowed Mum, my son, and myself. We felt that there would have been plenty of room for eight people in the house but for three it was luxuriously spacious !
Mum, who is prone to wander the house in the middle of the night, was able to have the ground floor en-suite double room and move between bedroom and kitchen as she pleased without disturbing anyone, while my son and I each occupied one end of the first floor, with the shared bathroom providing a noise buffer between our rooms.
The two twin rooms are far less cramped than they appear in the photo’s, with one having access to it’s own outside area and the spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace. The double room which I occupied, with it’s own spacious South facing balcony was very comfortable. The bathrooms are extremely well equipped and sensibly planned. The kitchen is modern, clean and functional, very easy to use and well equipped.
The house is situated in a very quiet peaceful street, with an attractive area of grassed and tree’d parkland opposite the entrance. Although away from the centre of Calella, there is a bar/restaurant just around the corner and everything else is within easy walking distance. The bikes provided were a real bonus for getting around without the car.
The garage under the house was also a bonus for parking my trailor !
The owner of the house, who lives next door, was very friendly and helpful, without being obtrusive. Nothing was too much trouble, including me actually asking to borrow a cup of sugar ! I was also impressed with the speed that our security deposit was returned to my bank account without deductions, despite a couple of breakages.
Standards of maintenance, equipment, comfort, and cleanliness are excellent.
Casa Tarongers was an excellent alternative to staying in a hotel as we have done in the past, giving us the freedom to eat what, when, and where we liked, giving us lots of space to spread out and spend time together in a relaxed environment. As far as I can see it is one of very few houses available to rent in Calella. I feel very lucky to have found it, and at such good value. We will certainly be back and will probably become regular guests, hopefully along with the rest of the family in future !

In June 2011 we spent a week in Calella. A collegue had recommended Tarongers for us, as she had stayed in the home 3 years ago. For us it was a great experience and if you want to take your family on a holiday - Tarongers in Calella is the right place for you.
We were 6 adults and 4 children from the age of 10 months, 3, 7 and 11 years, and there were plenty of room and space for everybody. Already apon arrival the owner (who lives next door) was helpful and made us feel at home. The house is situated in a quite area and it was only 10 minutes walk down to the supermercado and 15 minutes walk down to the beaches. There were 3 or 4 small beaches all along Calella and each of them were just large enough to observe the young kids playing in the water. My two sons, grandson and myself had great fun snorkling and we saw a lot of fishes. Feeding them with bread was great. Even though we spent most of the time in Calella, our two sons and wifes went for a days trip to Barcelona while grandparents took care of the grandchildren. My wife and I visited the marketplace in Palafrugell. We know there was a lot more to see and visit, but the sun and the beaches kept us in Calella. The service in restaurants were good and Callela was not crowded by tourists.
So as you understand we all had a great holiday and my daugther-in-law mentioned we should do it again next year!!!!

We have stayed several times in this villa which probably speaks for itself. The property is well-appointed and comfortable and is within easy walking distance of Calella de Palafrugell. The owner lives next door and is able to give expert guidance on local restaurants, shops etc. We have found him to be extremely helpful in every respect.
Calella itself is a lovely village with beaches in rocky coves. It offers a range of eating establishments, bars etc. A short distance (and a pleasant walk) away is the viillage of Llafranc which offers a larger beach. The beaches are well maintained and safe; lifeguards are on duty most of the time.
Within half an hour's drive of Calella there are many interesting places to visit. The local town Palafrugell has a market which is worth visiting. Not far away are several medieval villages including Pals and Peratellada. The city of Gerona boasts a spectacular cathedral among numerous other interesting attractions. The countryside also offers some excellent eating establishments whose prices are often lower than those on the coast. The owner of the villa has an encyclopaedic knowledge of these establishments.
The countryside around Calella is criss-crossed with both cycle paths (the owner provides 2 bicycles for guests' use) and walking routes. Much of the countryside is covered with pine trees but there is also a lot of agriculture. Sunflowers and Maize are prominent crops. The area around Calella is relatively unspoilt with little evidence of high rise apartment blocks. In Calella itself the buildings are generally tasteful in both design and colour.
Communication is excellent: the road to Gerona Airport is nearly all dual now and Barcelona is easily accessible on the motorway. The French border to the North is about an hour away. Day trips to Perpignan or the Pyrenees are perfectly feasible.
For the golfer there are several courses within easy reach - that at Pals is probably the most established. Diving also attracts people to the area. There are outlets in Callela and in Llafranc.
We have not investigated the nightlife to any extent; suffice to say that the streets of Calella and Llafranc are always mercifully quiet at night!
To conclude Tarongers at Calella offers something for everyone except those for whom clubbing is the cornerstone of the holiday. We would go back at any time.
