Such a lovely stay The hosts were extremely accommodating - especially since my sister messed up the booking but they still made sure we had somewhere to stay!
The place is beautiful - the house is surrounded by rolling hills with a view of the river. Bonus the two cute dogs!

Grove B&B is a terrific place. It's a very old building with large wooden beams, and not an even floorboard anywhere. That, together with the adventurous driveway (which I wouldn't advice to use with a sports car, but even our crappy little French hire car did it just fine), added to the feeling of seclusion and remoteness, which was very relaxing. However, modern comfort like WIFI and a good shower was all there. Penny and David were extremely hospitable, breakfast was excellent, there was a comfortable lounge for relaxing after a days' worth of outings. The bed was very comfortable, I slept like a log. The Forest of Dean and the River Severn are a beautiful area.
Everything was great, can't complain about anything.

The farm was beautiful. Peaceful with stunning grounds. Loved our beds and rooms.
The owners greeted us with a warm welcome and content convivial conversation which made us feel at ease straight away.
The added cherry on top was the quality of our wonderful breakfast. Local produce, homemade jams honey and butter on fresh baked breads. The eggs and meats also were delicious and locally sourced. Also went above and beyond and made me a very old traditional breakfast that took me back to my childhood
If you like to walk before breakfast there are beautiful rambling paths all around.
Absolute recommended for a traditional warm and wonderful farmhouse Bed & Breakfast experience
I can not think of anything of our stay

The breakfast, gorgeous views, friendly hosts who took good care of me. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and had everything I could need. The two friendly dogs who greeted me. The setting was beautiful.
Long drive down a lane to find it. Some cobwebs in bedroom.

Lovely filling breakfast. well cared for. Hosts went above and beyond my expectations. Nice secluded spot.
Animals birds and two very friendly dogs
The approach track was a little tough on my old bones and my old car too
4.6
Superb hospitality and a great 'off the beaten track location' with excellent access to the hills and forest. Definitely an exceptional place to stay.
Nothing.

nothing not to like

Excellent Breakfast. Choose what you wanted cooked the night before and the time you wanted it served. Plus Fresh fruit - some available on the Hosts’ land ( different most days)/yoghurt/cereal/juice/tea or coffee/toast. All served, at a perfectly laid table, by Host.
Use of a guests lounge with lovely wood burner waiting for us when we came back to the b&b in the evening.
Nothing was too much trouble- very welcoming, kind Hosts who were genuinely interested in your day. Very peaceful, relaxing stay. Hope to return.
Nothing really.

David was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Their driveway was frozen over with ice and he called me to to advise me to park lower down the track and to call him when I arrived and he would walk down to meet me, and that's exactly what he did. Much appreciated as it was dark and I was on my own.
It was like home from home, very cosy and comfortable. Lovely roaring fire in the guest lounge which I had to myself.
The breakfast was exceptional! Lots of choice and plenty. Had the kippers, a really treat!
David and his cute Labs walked me to my car in the morning and helped me with my bags, a perfect host, thank you!
The TV in the guest lounge wasn't working well, but not a problem as the Wifi connection was really good so I was able to watch what I wanted on my Laptop.

The host and everyone there are extremely kind and make you feel at home, my partner and I were made to feel right at home, they went way and beyond to make our stay a relaxing one. The house is decorated new with old and gives you that cosy warm farm feeling with the luxury of a B&B at the same time. The fireplace and the breakfast is a big wow. As for the road to the house, I drive a Audi TT and did that with ease.
I honestly don't have anything criticism at all

friendly / excellent breakfast
lovely location

Excellent choices for breakfast, David is a fantastic host, nothing is too much trouble and so helpful. This is a proper old farmhouse B&B quite a way from the main road making it so peaceful and quiet, everything you need on hand, quaint, clean and very comfortable, if you're looking for luxury then it's possibly not for you but it you want stay on a farm with lovely views and plenty of walks then this I can thoroughly recommend!
Hope to return again soon!
A word of warning to travellers wanting to stay here.....
'This B&B is over half a mile from the main road up a single track lane, it is worn in places and quite uneven so care needs to be taken when driving up and down (especially in any vehicle with low ground clearance like I was travelling in) I didn't have any problems because the lane was 'bone dry' and I could pick exactly where I needed to be to navigate it, I would of had difficulty had the lane been full of puddles and not being able to tell where the low/high points were. Having said all this I don't think anyone in a standard car would have a problem if driven with care.

beautiful location fantastic hosts cosy room with everything and more you could want for. loved the fact no tv in the bedroom. delicious breakfast

Peaceful setting for a lovely house with great views of the estuary and easy access to walks in the Forest of Dean. Lovely homemade breakfast. David was attentive and even phoned to ensure we were okay when our walk took slightly longer than anticipated and the light was fading.

The hosts were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the house is in a beautiful setting.
The small shower and tiny washbasin made hairwashing tricky.

We had a really pleasant few days at Grove Farm. Our hosts, David and Penny, were very friendly and welcoming. The house is full of character and our room had a really lovely view over an olive tree, across fields and over towards the Severn. The bed was comfortable (mid to soft) and a small fridge was available in our room and was stocked with fresh milk. We were in the second guest bedroom, which has a separate bathroom just off the landing outside the bedroom door, made private by a curtain drawn across the landing - perfectly adequate. There was also a sink in the bedroom. The breakfast was very tasty and filling with a variety of options available including English, smoked salmon, cereals, fruit and more. A spacious drawing room was also available for us to use in the evenings. Wifi was ok for general emails and internet browsing, but might struggle for anything more. Lots of walking information was available which sadly we weren't able to take advantage of this visit. We would gladly return if the opportunity arises.
More for info rather than "didn't like": The private bathroom of the second guest bedroom does not have a shower, but does have a bath with a shower hose. This is hand-held (not attached to the wall) and we found it awkward to get the temperature right. If a shower is preferred then I understand that the first guest bedroom has an en-suite with shower. The farmhouse is down a reasonably long, private lane with a surface of varying quality. We had no problems in our Octavia, but very low cars may have difficulty.

Old farmhouse in a beautiful countryside setting. Loved seeing the pheasants wandering everywhere. Great to have use of a comfy sitting room.

beautiful location, amazing views

I booked this for my mother who said the stay was lovely. The owners were really friendly, helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was fantastic (she sent me a pic).
4.6
Good breakfast choice - traditional home cooked food
Lovely comfy bed and room
Very peaceful setting up a long farm track so well away from main road and any noise
Drawing room was spacious with TV and comfy chairs/sofas to relax
I was looked after really well and given a lovely pot of tea and cake when I came back at teatime 😊
I was happy with everything and felt very comfortable staying here on my own

It was a lovely location, the setting was beautifully peaceful with a super view from our room. Our room was very comfortable with good facilities. David and Penny were fabulous hosts and cooked a very good breakfast, with plenty of choice. Even the dogs were very welcoming and attentive.
The only downside was the track leading to Grove Farm, it was quite rough and the taxi driver wasn't overly keen but still picked us up, other taxi firms might not.

Lovely hosts, Penny and David, who made us very welcome in their home. Smashing views towards the Severn. Lovely bedroom and drawing room. Breakfasts were first class and very relaxed. Would certainly recommend.

The setting of the Farm was just beautiful. The family really made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The room was a delight with a perfect view and breakfast was fantastic. I would definitely go back again
Your car needs a good suspension to go up the track to the location but I didn’t mind it because the location at the end was perfect

This is such a charming property in an absolutely stunning location with the best view of the Severn and surrounding landscape. The hosts are an absolute delight, so friendly and welcoming, while leaving you with your space. A perfect balance.
Absolutely noting negative to say

Stunning area, lovely owners and beautiful house made our holiday perfect. We were well looked after and we could feel like in our own home. Absolutely amazing.
4.6
What's not to like. Quiet location. At the end of a lane, very easy to find. Surrounded by fields. The owners have 2 beautiful and well behaved labradors. Room was a good size with a separate bathroom for my room. Lovely lounge just for guests. Walked to the town for dinner, very easy walk. Close to Forest of Dean. Owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble - I am gluten free and they provided breakfast for me. Big choice for breakfast. Very relaxing, home from home.
Not being there for longer
4.6
The rural location and a great cooked breakfast. The hosts were very welcoming and the farm house was gorgeous. Well off the beaten track, so glad we had a car that could manage the road leading to the farm.
Everything was great
4.6
A beautiful property with welcoming and generously accommodating hosts, including their lovely labradors! The bedrooms are comfortable, well appointed and both have lovely views down to the Severn. Guests are given free use of the sitting room in the farmhouse, which meant we could 'dine in' with our own picnic. Breakfasts are exceptional, and my dietary preferences were catered for very thoughtfully. A perfect location for dogs too, this is good walking country.
The only possible issue is the rather pot-holed lane up to the farm, but I have an ordinary car and there was no difficulty provided the drive is taken slowly. I only include this to alert future guests to just approach carefully, it really wasn't a problem. The lovely views more than make up for a slow drive.

Interesting local fare for breakfast

All was amazing to be honest

Our host were really good, they made us feel really at home and we felt it was a home from home. Would recommend to everyone. Although I would advice them about the track to the house.
We had no complaints about anything.

Stunning location. Rustic house with wooden beams and sloping floorboards. Welcoming and friendly hosts (including the dogs!) Got on well with our dog who is a bit nervous and shy. Walk for miles out the front door. Enclosed garden with fields around with wildlife aplenty! Use of the lounge was relaxing and toasty with a log fire. A home away from home with an extra special touch. Breakfast was divine :)
Would love to visit again in spring/summer/autumn to see the place in full colour and enjoy the outside space more. A bit noisy with the creaky floorboards.
