About this cabin rental
Set in a stunning location within 22 acres of north Devon countryside and lying near to an iron age hillfort and a lake, this is a place to escape it all! Woodpecker Lodge is a 4 bedroom self-catering log cabin that comfortably sleeps up to 8 adults and has it's very own private hot tub. The location is great for a holiday in north Devon and there is plenty to do, while also being a perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature.
In low season short notice bookings, 2 night bookings may be available (rather than 3 night minimum) and discounts may be available if booking for 3 nights or more. Please message to enquire!
The bedrooms are all good sizes. The 2 upstairs bedrooms both have king size beds, en-suite bathrooms (bath only), and one bedroom has a private balcony area. There are 2 downstairs bedrooms, one with a double bed and en-suite shower room and one with twin beds. There is one family shower room downstairs with a lovely large shower.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all that you'd expect including a kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, dishwasher and washing machine. The living room is comfortable and cosy ... especially when the log burner is lit!
Woodpecker Lodge has it's own private hot tub for guests to relax and enjoy throughout their holiday. It is important the guests read and adhere to the guidance on how to operate and safely use the hot tub in order to keep it clean, be safe and make the most of it, which we email to guests prior to their stay.
There is parking for up to 4 cars and an enclosed garden although you are welcome to explore the 22 acres of countryside at your leisure, which includes woodlands, a lake and an iron age hillfort. On a clear day you can see sea views to Hartland Point, and on a clear night the stars are breath-taking!
We are very dog friendly and doggies are welcome to stay. Please note that dogs must be kept off all furniture, muddy paws must be cleaned before entering the cabin, and all dog poo must be picked up from the garden and paths. There is an additional charge for more than 2 dogs.
Woodpecker Lodge is in a rural location, about a 5 minute drive from the village of Bratton Fleming where there is a small village shop and a fish and chip van on a Friday night. We are a 20 minute drive from supermarkets. There are a number of great pubs/restaurants (many of them dog friendly) that we can recommend which are all within a 10 - 30 minute drive away.
There is plenty to see and do in north Devon during your visit. Why not try your hand at surfing at the nearby beaches such as Croyde, Saunton Sands and Woolacombe, or hire a bicycle and ride the famous Tarka Trail, or go hiking in Exmoor, or walk the spectacular South West Coast Path? Other attractions to visit include Arlington Court and Castle Hill Gardens that are also very close if you like to explore National Trust properties, or for something different you could visit Quince Honey Farm in nearby South Molton. There’s plenty for kids too, such as the Exmoor Zoological Park, Milky Way Adventure Park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.

This was our second stay at WPL and absolutely loved it. While here we celebrated my dad’s 50th birthday so there was so many beautiful family memories made Thankyou so much pru and Matt!! Best of luck to you all!

Family holiday for 6 adults, 2 children and a dog. Property easy to find and great location. Garden secure so the dog and oldest grandson could run free. Woodland with property great for little adventures. Easy access to coast and great walks all within a short drive. Good facilities at the property especially the decking area which we used all day.

We Stayed at Woodpecker Lodge over Christmas, needing a break from the usual stresses we couldn't of asked for a better place to stay, Matt and Pru made the lodge very homely with some lovely Christmas decorations and a tree. The local area is lovely and quiet, there are some beautiful views from walking around the grounds, along with the hot tub and log fire it all helped with making our stay very relaxing.
I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to relax!

Pru and Matt were so accommodating about my oxygen deliveries and pick ups and all went without a hitch.
The beautiful, surrounding, countryside on our doorstep was heaven and it reminded me how much I love North Devon. A short walk up to the hill fort is worth it for the peace and tranquility and the panoramic views. I will definitely return.
We had everything we needed for a perfect stay.

Very comfortable plenty of of room for dog to run around and fenced in easy access to reach local costal areas or if you want to stay at the lodge its peaceful good cooking facilities to cook as we done some meals instead of eating out.We said we would like to go back some time in the future.

Spacious accommodation in a beautiful setting, it is central for the seaside and surfing as well as the countryside and Exmoor. The outdoor areas are peaceful in the sunshine or shade with walks around the property too. Matt and Pru are thorough and thoughtful with the information and items provided. We had a lovely stay. Our girls loved the hot tub. The outdoor area was perfect for our dog. It was very peaceful. The cottage was great and it was brilliant to have some downstairs rooms and bathrooms. The only downside would be that Wifi was a bit weak and our phone service was not great. You also need to be prepared to drive on country lanes quite a bit and it is 20 minutes to a supermarket. Otherwise, we had a lovely holiday.

It is enough space for the seven of us. We had a great time with the whirlpool, the fireplace and the very good dvd collection- especially on rainy days. Everything was clean, comfortable and cosy. The location was quiet surrounded by nature. A very beautyful house.

We are a group of 4 friends on a walking holiday and this cabin suited us perfectly. Plenty of room and a lovely garden. I'm afraid I can't comment on the hot tub as we didn't have time to get in it!

Loved this property, my children thought it was like staying in a tree house!! The house was clean and had everything you needed, the hot tub was a bonus. We loved that it was off grid and that they are so keen on recycling.
The house is perfectly located for some great days in North Devon and some fantastic beaches. Would definitely come back.

What a gorgeous place very relaxing and tranquil stunning views i didn't want to go home, the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed would definitely stay again.

We all have a fantastic week at Woodpecker Lodge, really was home from home with everything you need and thought through.
Our dog loved the grounds and walks and the living in the forest didn’t disappoint with Mr Woodpecker himself and friends of an evening owls, peacock.
The main town was just 18mins away all the supermarkets needed there and a great Table Table were we eat out one night.
Additional extras like hot tub and log burner were winners too.
Being a family who like games nights we took a bag full but enjoyed the ones there also ! As I said thought of everything.

This was our second stay at this property and it was just as good as the first time. The accommodation suited us all and the garden is very secure for the children to run around in. Matt & Pru have done lots of work to the field and they boys loved playing up there. Therefore, overall, I do not hesitate in recommending this property for a lovely holiday.

A beautiful lodge so well equipped. Just what we were looking for, 4 days of complete relaxation. We were so lucky with the snow which made everything so magical especially just before Christmas.

The garden was perfect for our dog - spacious, safe and enclosed. He also liked being able to run right around the lodge on the walkway. We all enjoyed exploring the private woodland and walking in the meadow. We enjoy cooking and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. However, one drawback was the under-counter fridge which isn't large enough to house a week's worth of food for seven people. It would have been nice to have a few more mugs too. Thanks to Matt and Pru for a lovely stay.

We really loved this cottage. It was perfect for our short break for a family wedding. The cottage was comfortable,very clean and well presented and well equipped It was lovely to meet Matt who made us feel very welcome. We would loved to have stayed for a longer period of time.

We enjoyed a luxury of the hot tub and did many trips withing 20 min drive to spectacular amusements, booked coastal horse riding sessions as well as tasted great fish and chips experience in local sea town called Colyton. Very dog friendly environment with a lots to offer in terms of walks, bbq outdoor games.
We would definetly recommend it, the cottage was spacious, very clean and everything matched the description.

Excellent property, in great surroundings. Well equipped and all mod cons even though it's off grid. The largest bedroom with the balcony could do with another radiator in it (cold at night) but other than that, can't fault it. Would happily book again!

Absolutely beautiful
It was absolutely amazing we stayed during storm Eunice and Matt and pru made sure we was safe, made sure our car was safe (from the trees)
The cabin was absolutely beautiful,
Matt come daily to do the hot tub making sure levels was perfect etc.
They was just up the lane if we needed anything.
The house is very equipped with everything you could need!
Was a very quite stay and I could honestly say all ages would enjoy it were a young family and we absolutely loved it also exmoor zoo is 6 mins away and it’s a great zoo, there’s so many things to do around you days out etc there’s also a pond on the 22 acres of land your on so much more to do than we first thought!
We definitely recommend!!
