About this apartment rental

A large and very bright apartment with a splendid view on the Cannaregio canal.
The apartment presents details that are typical of Venetian palazzi and has been renovated with a modern twist in the choice of furnishings, resulting in an elegant mix of antique and modern styles.
It consists of: 5 bedrooms (for a total of up to 10 guests), 3 bathrooms, and a large fully equipped family kitchen. The living area has armchairs, sofas, and a large 46-inch flat screen, as well as a dining table for up to 10 people. The bedrooms all open onto the living area. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower cabin. The other two double rooms can be turned into twin rooms by separating the beds. The remaining 2 single bedrooms can also host 1 extra fold-out bed each. While the ensuite bathroom has a shower cabin, the other 2 bathrooms have comfortable and elegant bathtubs.High speed internet and central air conditioning accompany the apartment’s brand new appliances.

In the apartment’s immediate surroundings you can find many restaurants, cafes, shops, and the nearby market of San Leonardo, where you can pick up fresh fish, fruits, and vegetables.
This area provides many services, as it is near the train station and has many connections to the different areas of the city.

The closest waterbus stops are Guglie and San Marcuola, on the Grand Canal, both convenient for visiting the city’s many attractions.

Venice has six districts, known as “sestieri”. Cannaregio is the most populated districted after the one of Castello. It includes the entire northern part of the city all the way to Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo, extending from the train station to almost the Rialto Bridge. In this district, you find the Venetian Ghetto, the oldest Jewish ghetto in the world, still inhabited today by a very prominent and active Jewish community. Three of its five synagogues are open to visits, and its Jewish Museum is very interesting as it tells the story of the community’s settlement in Venice.
Strada Nuova is the grand artery of the city, lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Furthermore, its smaller side streets lead you to Fondamenta degli Ormesini and Rio della Misericordia. In the evening, before dinner, this area is quite lively, becoming a reference point for Venetian aperitifs with its many small bars with open terraces overlooking the Rio.

This apartment was the perfect Venice abode for our family, that includes married children and grandchildren. The apartment is perfectly located on a canal, and only a three minute walk to the Jewish Ghetto. Each room was spacious and clean, with three full, newly renovated bathrooms and a beautifully renovated large kitchen. The furniture was old and worn, and some of the paint on the walls was peeling. But overall, this was a perfect apartment for our needs.

Clean and perfect for a larger group because there are 5 bedrooms sleeping 2 each and 3 bathrooms, so that no one is ever really waiting to get into a bathroom. The big dining area with table and sitting area by the windows looking over the Fondamenta Cannaregio easily accommodated all of us while reading, listening to podcasts, talking, and planning the next day's touring. Very convenient for arriving from airport leaving for airport with Alilaguna (orange line) which stops only steps away from the property. Clean rooms with a spacious kitchen with plenty of dishes and bowls and cooking utensils. We made dinners, had breakfasts, and prepared sack lunches for our touring days at the Venice Biennale . Right outside property there are bars and restaurants that made our stay even more special. Congenial and not so crowded because away from main attractions surrounding Piazza San Marco. Instead, we headed into Cannaregio for dinner at some spectacular restaurants without waiting or crowds. Reasonable prices in October. I hope to return to the same location, again, in 2024 for the next Venice Biennale!

Great location!!
Great location!!
So close to the airport stop. Stair are steep so take that into consideration. No lifts. Great eateries nearby! Great shopping! Venice was very hot and the air conditioning did not keep up. Would stay here again for sure.

Great find in Venice
Great find in Venice
We were extremely pleased with this property. We came in by train and it is very close to either walk or take the water taxi. Very great location right on a canal and close to almost everything. The host checked us in personally and walked us through everything. We were a family of 10 with 6 adults and 4 kids (12, 9, 8, 5). Everyone enjoyed this place. I would highly recommend.

I am going to try to remain focused on my review of the property, as I am not a huge fan of Venice. I'm a country girl and overly touristy areas are not something I enjoy... The flat is in a great location, situated outside of the extreme tourist areas and just outside of the Jewish Ghetto which in my opinion was the best area we visited. The front bedrooms were a bit noisy as they faced a canal with pretty heavy traffic (earplugs from our flight came in very handy). If you are used to city noise I am sure you will not be bothered a bit. There are of course stairs to get to the flat. It is on the 2nd floor but there is no landing so you need to be very careful when entering/exiting. The trash is a little tricky but I respect the recycling program and found it to work nicely. If you are tired and need to sleep-in, the trash collectors start ringing your door about 9:00 AM to let you know they are there. The general feel of the flat was not cozy feeling at all, actually it was a bit sterile feeling. Between poor lighting and lack of area rugs it felt like you were staying in a basement with a nice kitchen. As for cleanliness, it was clean except for 1 issue that apparently was only present in the master bedroom. Our visit was during the 2nd week in October. The weather was wonderful. Apparently, mosquitoes are an issue. I am uncertain if they are an issue in Venice in general (assuming they very well may be) or just in this flat.... the master bedroom had smushed mosquito carcasses stuck to the walls near the bedside lights. It was gross. I tried to clean them so I didn't have to look at them but they were not easily removed and I didn't want to damage the walls so I pretty much left them. In the mosquito wars I can certainly see how they got there in the first place (get some repellent!). In summary, good location, good amenities, great check-in hostess, good management/leasing company. On the down side: mosquitos and a little sterile feeling (not homey). All-in-all, I would recommend this flat to a friend just be prepared & enjoy Venice!!! ;)

Excellent property and managers

Cannot say enough good things about our stay here! We arrived in the morning and because no one was occupying the property we were allowed in early. Marco of The Red House Company met us upon our arrival as communicated in emails and spent an hour orienting us to the property and to Venice. He actually gave us a map and showed us where to go and how to get there. This map became our guide for the entire stay. When I had further questions, they also responded to all my emails within 24 hours. The property was on the 3rd floor so there are quite a number of stairs but it was beautiful and just as the pics show. The AC worked nicely and got quite cool in the evenings. The kitchen was large, had many dishes and utensils, as well as appliances. There is one unit that served as both a washer and dryer but it took hours to do a load; a friend later told me we should have drained the water after the wash cycle before drying. I’m sure Marco would have explained this better if I would have asked. There is no iron but there are 2 hair dryers! It is clean and the furniture is good and was not worn or stained. The best part about it was the location. It is on a canal just off the main street. It was quiet but very close to “the action.” The views from the windows were stunning and many pictures were taken! There was restaurant/bar next door that served breakfast (including chocolate pancakes deemed “the best” by my picky eater son), lunch and dinner, as well as cocktails. It quickly became our hangout when we were around the house. We stayed at this property for about a week then went on a cruise. Upon our return we stayed at a much more expensive property on the Grand Canal managed by a company named something like Best Venice. I cannot tell you how much nicer Marco and Red House treated us. Unlike our stay with Red House, we were not allowed into our this house until exactly 3pm when they texted us a code to open door, the lady hung up on us when we called to inquire why our luggage had not been delivered by the time promised after paying handsomely and the furniture was worn/ripped/stained. Thank you Marco and Red House for treating us so nicely!

Loved the quiet yet lovely location. The vaporetto stop is quite close and connects you well to the touristy parts of Venice. The kitchen and bathrooms are very modern and well maintained. The place is charming, clean, and comfortable. Beware, it’s on the second floor, so there are many steps with no landing in front of the door.
