This Vintage Beach House gives you the true New England beach experience, with Ocean Beach Park just steps away! The home is a single family, two story design. Our fully furnished 5 bedroom and 2 bathroom house allows 13 relatives to live comfortably and lavishly! SLEEPS 13 IN BEDS! Max 13 occupancy!

Ocean Beach Park is down the street from home, open Memorial Day to Labor Day. It is less than a 3 minute walk to your left once you step out the front door. Guests are able to utilize Alewife Cove for water activities such as kayaks, canoes, or paddle boards (all NOT included). Water access area 2 blocks away on Parkway Drive (Waterford, CT). Very short walk across the bridge (to the right) bringing you to water access area.

There are 5 CARS MAXIMUM allowed on this property rental. Guests will be able to park 2 vehicles in driveway. Guests can park 3 other vehicles on the street, next to the retaining wall adjacent to the house. Do not block fire hydrant; you will be ticketed. We will not be held responsible for any parking violations. There is a sign on lawn that states "NO PARKING: PERMIT REQUIRED". Please disregard sign as we are owners of the home and you are our guests. No parking permit required.
All Bookings: standard checkin 2pm and standard checkout 10am. Unfortunately, there are no extended checkins or checkouts. We do not have the ability to extend checkin or checkout times. Also, we do not accept trip alteration (dates) once booking is confirmed.
You will be notified through the message board, the day/morning of your stay (fifteen minutes prior to your selected check in time) with the keyless entry instructions and code.
We kindly ask that ALL communication is made through the VRBO/HomeAway message board; to only utilize the telephone contact in the event of a true emergency.
We DO NOT provide on site facility showing(s) and/or walk-through services prior to booking your stay.
We ARE NOT responsible for the receipt or procurement of any guest packages ordered/delivered to home before, during, or after their stay.

There are 7 portable AC units strategically placed throughout the home. DO NOT MOVE THESE UNITS FROM ROOMS OR DETACH FROM WALL. A $750 fee will be incurred for any(each) damaged unit. Instructions for AC/ Dehumidifier usage are located in each bedroom nightstand and kitchen drawer. AC/ Dehumidifier units will be removed from the home each fall season (by 2nd week of October) and stored away, then re-installed in spring season (by Memorial Day Weekend in late May). PLEASE DO NOT SET AC UNITS LOWER THAN 70* - SYSTEMS WILL MALFUNCTION REQUIRING SERVICE.
There are 3 thermostats (zones) that control the heat in the home. First is located on the top floor in upstairs main bedroom; controls top floor heat. Second is on the main floor in kitchen/ living room hallway area; controls kitchen and living room heat. Third is located in the first floor bedroom to the left of the staircase; controls heat in this room only. You can adjust the temperature on these three thermostats to your liking. If you just turned the thermostat(s) on, it may take a few minutes for the steam to permeate through each base board and zone.

The property was great! Very clean, rooms were a nice size and the perfect location. It's a 5 minute walk to the beach which was great.we spent most of our time in Mystic which was only a 20 minute drive away.

The property met our location needs but wasn't very clean. I wiped off counters and dining room table and the were quite dirty. Floors were also not very clean. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch having coffee. Kitchen towels and dish cloths should be provided. The sponge left in the kitchen was smelly.

house was clean , everything was provided that was mentioned in description , beach 5 minute walk , I guess only neg mention some stains on upstairs carpet ( light stains ) other than that it was great no complaints would rent from them again

Perfect spot!
We came up for a few days to get a feel for the area, check out the US Coast Guard Academy campus with our son, and get some beach time in. We loved being super close to Ocean Beach Park and just hanging out on the porch of the house. We really enjoyed the house while we were there.

Beautiful views nearby
Close to three parks and 10 miles from Mystic. Even though the house manual states that Nov-Feb 12:00 early check-in is available, we weren’t able to check in until 1:45. Also, the coffee maker is a Keurig, which we were disappointed to discover when we were ready to brew our coffee 😩. Overall we would recommend this property.

Awesome vacation.
We had a great stay at this property. House was great and had everything we needed. Located within walking distance from the ocean! You could hear the waves from the front porch ( which we throughly enjoyed and used each morning and evening to relax). Only complaint we had was not the property..but the cost of the Ocean park Beach. Expensive for 7 people to go and more to use the pool. However there are plenty of other beaches close by! We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Charming place
I can’t stress enough that I has such a great experience. The check in process was super easy. We were coming from Boston, Baltimore and New Haven, so the keypad entrance was perfect. Everything was super clean. The kitchen has all the basics to make even a Thanksgiving dinner, including a turkey!!!! I had my dog with me and we enjoyed running in the fort and walking around... vey call and friendly neighborhood. No dogs allowed on the near by beach park. The house is big with enough rooms for a large family. This was a great experience and would definitely recommend it. I would love to go back when it is warmer so I can enjoy the beach too!!!

Exactly what we were looking for
Our family stayed here in October for a wedding down at Harkness State Park. There was plenty of room for everyone (9 adults) and the kitchen came with pots and pans needed for cooking during our stay. Plenty of linens and place was very clean. Short walk to the beach/boardwalk and beautiful walking path along the river. Driveway looked small but it fit our extra large suburban rental car! Owner was very responsive to my questions before we arrived. Very pleased with this property.

New London get away
We enjoyed our stay in New London, close to many fun little sea towns and walking distance to Ocean Beach. The property was well taken care of and well stocked with essential items like linens and cooking supplies. We had a minor issue the property manager and maintenance person responded too timely. One concern was all the many scented air fresheners that we had to remove due to allergies in the family. I would and hopefully will return for another vacation and have shared this listing with family and friends.

House was the cleanest I've ever used. Ample cleaning products, towels, sheets, and it was nice that owner provided beach towels, beach chairs and beach passes. Also beds and pillows were very comfortable. Great location down the block from really nice beach and park!
Needs improvement:
The house was advertised that it sleeps 14 or 15. We were a party of 14 but there was a shortage of certain supplies. Not enough wash clothes, glasses, plates etc for a large party. Also my family could not sit around the table to eat our meals - not enough chairs. Easy solution would be to provide folding chairs. Upstairs pull out was very uncomfortable you could feel metal springs, luckily we had air mattress and through it on top of pull out. 10 beach passes provided so if you have a larger party may need to pay admission fee but we got lucky we flashed the bag of passes and they didn't count them so we were fine. Final improvement - it would be nice if owner included a grill in backyard.

As advertised
Communication with the owner was fast and easy. The check-in process was seamless. The house was clean, and the location within walking distance of the beach was very convenient. The beach passes, chairs, towels, wagon, etc made the beach experience more efficient and enjoyable. There were ample kitchen and bedding supplies as well. My only suggestions for improvement would be that the portable AC/Dehumidifier unit in the downstairs bedroom seemed to not cool as well as other units in the house, or was insufficient for the size of the room. It also would have been nice to have an outdoor grill. Overall, we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Family beach adventure
The property was wonderful for our family of 8 adults and 2 children. It was an easy walk to the beach each day and having the passes, chairs, and wagon to cart everything in was awesome. To make it a little easier on families that like to cook, it would be nice to have some larger pans and colander. When we had questions or needed help there were quick responses. This was a wonderful first trip to the beach for our grandsons!

House was great! Just as advertised. Plenty of sleeping areas and bathrooms for our group and nice and clean. The owner was also very responsive and answered any questions very quickly. Would recommend this and any of his other properties to anyone in the future!

Great Property
My whole family very much enjoyed our stay at Stuart Ave. It was close to the beach and the passes were tremendous. My wife and I walked around the area on our daily walks and loved it. The only 2 things which stopped me giving 5 stars, was the loss of electricity in the main bedroom on the first night which was fixed the next day by Alex, really nice guy by the way. It was simply throwing a switch on the fuse board which I could have done easily but did not have access to the fuse board. The other thing which was more serious and which should be dealt with, is that the oven did not work correctly and took a long time to cook simple things.
Apart from these 2 things, the stay was most enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Cute New London Getaway
We had a great time at the Ocean Beach Gate house! It was big enough for our extended family. The driveway fits two cars so others need to park on the street. Aside from the kitchen not having alot of the standard items (could only find salt, pepper, sugar), we were able to cook our meals with the bowls and pots and pans provided. We enjoyed out time there!

Solid house right by the beach.
I really enjoyed my stay at this house.
The house is located right next to a popular beach park, where we walked to every day. We enjoyed the convenience and people watching, especially on the weekend and Fourth of July, but if you are looking for peace and quiet, this may not necessarily be a positive thing. It was also one of the cleanest homeaway/airbnb spaces that I've been in. The Owner did a great job of providing us with more than enough supplies to keep the house and ourselves clean.
The only negative thing that I have to say about this place is that the basement (fifth bedroom) was way too humid and hot to be used for sleep. The dehumidifier, which would have helped, was broken and the two standing fans were negligible at best in cooling down the room. Luckily, we didn't need the extra room so it wasn't that big of a deal for us, but if we had an extra person, they would not have been able to sleep comfortably.
But overall, a very good house that can easily have been a 5 star if not for the basement issue.

Beautiful house, great location, private!
We had a great experience with the house. It was spacious and private. We were directly across the street from the beach. The town was cute with a lot of fresh seafood available if you like that, which we do! It was more than enough room for my husband and I plus our two dogs! Would definitely recommend! We will rent this house again next time we visit Connecticut! Oh, and it's only 20-25 minutes away from both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods! Bonus!!
