About this villa rental
The villa sleeps 10 but has the flexibility to accommodate 6-13 guests. The villa comprises 2 self contained living spaces. 5 bedrooms in total (3 downstairs & 2 upstairs). Both floors have ample living spaces (lounge area, dining table and kitchen) with Smart TV and DVD. The prices listed are for rental of the full villa but we are happy to take bookings outside of peak season for the ground floor only (3 bedrooms) at a reduced price - please contact owners for details). The first floor apartment will only be available to those renting the rest of the house, giving the opportunity to have a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for larger families, multiple families or friendship groups. Additionally, we can accommodate 3 additional guests with extra beds in the upstairs living room and charge only a small additional fee.
This villa is well equipped: it is a family home as well as a holiday rental and 'comfort' is the 'watch word'. Free WiFi, two well-equipped kitchens, good quality bed linen and towels, comfortable beds and sofas: we want our guests to feel as comfortable in our home as they do in theirs. Hot water is supplied by solar power with a supplementary immersion electric heater. There are wood burners on both floors.
The Walnut Tree has a 10m x 5m swimming pool, table tennis and a boule court. The villa is surrounded by landscaped grounds of around an acre with lawns and terraces, a barbecue area with a fire pit and a productive olive grove. From the first floor there are glimpses of the sea and the island of Ithaca in the distance.
The joy of The Walnut Tree villa is the 360 degree view of the surrounding area - olive groves, farmland and hills as well as the far distant mountains of the Kefalonian National Park of Mount Aenos.
The town/port of Sami is a comfortable 4km from the villa with a good range of tavernas, restaurants and bars as well as supermarkets, butcher, bakeries, a greengrocer, paper shop, laundry/dry cleaner. There is a post office, banks and ATMs. The villa is near two villages, Karavomilos and Poulata both with wonderful tavernas and restaurants.
Walking in the area round the villa is a ‘must’ to soak up the atmosphere and traditions of the island.
Above all, the villa is near to many discrete little beaches all along the coast with the beautiful and famous Antisamos Beach about ten minutes away and the world famous Myrtos beach. At Antisamos you can enjoy water sports and beach bars and tavernas and of course, the crystal clear water. The swimming and snorkelling here is magical. Many of the beach bars provide free sun loungers and parasols for their guests.
There is a wonderful new museum in Sami - describing the locality’s ancient history. The beautiful Cave Lake of Melissani and Drogarati Caves are also nearby.

We had a wonderful holiday at The Walnut tree villa. The villa was perfect for our big family, all the children loved playing in the pool and exploring the grounds, not to mention table tennis tournaments too! The air conditioning was amazing as the heat was incredibly high in August. The villa was well equipped including a great little cupboard of toys and games etc. It is a perfect location too just down the road from lovely Sami. We would love to come back here one day, highly recommended,

Amazing villa, has everything you need. pool is amazing. views are incredible. there was 10 of us staying for a friends wedding and it worked perfectly. We didn't hire a car so used quite a lot of taxi's which was fine, they're €10 to sami. Adrian and Jackie couldn't of been more helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay

Our stay at the Walnut Tree Villa was absolutely incredible! We had our Wedding in Sami and the house was perfect for us and our close friends. Everyone had perfect accommodations for sleeping and plenty of room to hang out in the living rooms together. We really enjoyed the use of the pool and laying out in the sun. It was fun to go out and pick fresh fruit to eat off of the trees. Adrian, from management was very helpful during our stay. We had the best time! Really recommend!

My family visited Kefalonia for a wedding nearby. The villa was perfect for all the family to spend time together from my father 80 years old to the grandchildren who are young adults. They had the upstairs apartment and the oldies had the downstairs and this worked brilliantly . The managing agents were very helpful and the villa and ground were very well kept.

A lovely place to stay with my family. Far enough from Sami for peace but close enough to enjoy all that is there.

We had a large group (11 people) stay - and were thrilled with everything from the location, to the view, to the overall accommodations. The property manager was friendly and responsive, and the host checked in with us often, and even assisted us with our Private Chef by meeting him ahead of our stay. We loved everything about this VRBO and would go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful house in quiet location in easy reach of Sami and beaches. Good facilities throughout the property. The only issue we had was with wasps, so had to eat indoors during the day which wasn't ideal, waiting until dark to eat our evening meal outside.

Lovely villa in a great location
We spent 2 weeks at the Walnut Tree Villa and couldn't have asked for more. The villa itself is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The location is perfect for exploring such a beautiful island and Celia could not have been more helpful during all of our communication in the lead upto and during our holiday. I would highly recommend staying here!

Great family size villa with beautiful views
This 5 bed villa is split over 2 levels, effectively a 2 bed apartment upstairs and a 3 bed apartment downstairs. The grounds are spacious and well maintained. The pool is excellent and especially good for smaller children as the swallow end is clearly marked and the slope is gradual. There are plenty of sun beds and outdoor seating. The kitchen area is small but well stocked with cooking utensils etc. All the bedrooms have air conditioning and plenty of storage and hanging space. The villa is ideal for family groups as there are books and games, pool toys, snorkelling equipment, table tennis and much more to keep everyone entertained. The villa is 5 minutes drive from the beach and numerous taverns in Sami, and the views of the surrounding hills are beautiful.

Loved it! Loved it!, Loved it!
Ten of us, 8 adults, 2 children and one teenager went for a week to The Walnut Tree. I have nothing negative to say about this gorgeous villa, it really is fantastic!
It was clean, roomy, well organised, and had everything possible we needed thoughtfully arranged. Communications with the owner were exceptional and the property managers - Adrian and Caroline were also wonderful and looked after us really well.
It's the first time I'd been to Greece but totally loved the island of Kefalonia and the village of Sami which is a short drive from the villa down to the coast where we could purchase everything that we needed.
We had an action packed week: we hired boats and dived from them into the sea exploring the coastline, visited the caves, saw the turtles in Argostoli from electric boats, visited a couple of the many beaches, hired quad bikes and explored the villages and visited some of the many restaurants enjoying the local food. After every trip we could go back to the cool of the villa and enjoy the pool where the children (and adults) had so much fun.
It was the trip of a lifetime for me and such a joy to have the family there so thank you again Celia for allowing us to have a share of your delightful Greek home.

The Walnut Tree Villa is definitely worth a visit.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and were not disappointed in any way.
The villa is spacious, very well maintained and equipped with everything you might need. A lovely pool and gardens, and fruit and olive trees galore.
The views are stunning and it is only a short drive from Sami ...we couldn't of asked for more.
We took advantage of the table tennis , swimming pool and boules daily and enjoyed these immensely.
The villa also has a great bbq that we enjoyed as a family on a few occassions buying local organic meat and produce.
If you want a relaxing holiday , stunning views and a villa that has everything this is the place to be.

Walnut Tree, Kefalonia
Outstanding accommodation in a lovely quiet setting just outside Sami. The villa and gardens were a delight and the pool was a perfect “playground” for the 5 children.
After a day exploring the island it was such an idyllic place to relax and enjoy a swim, spark up the barbecue and then settle back with a drink or two to look out over the beautiful gardens.
The villa has everything you will need to enjoy a wonderful holiday.
Contact from the owner (Cynthia) prior to travel and the local support provided by Adrian and Carloine made the whole process so easy.
Our only regret is not booking more time at this outstanding villa.

Perfect Villa in a stunning setting
Hired the villa as a group of 12 consisting of three families of four.
Excellent communication from Celia from the moment we enquired about the villa to just before departure. Always on hand to answer any questions and recommendations for car hire etc.
The villa itself was perfect for our group, being on two split levels. Fantastic facilities within the villa including DVD player with a whole heap of films (good to amuse the kids when they needed to be out of the sun).
Well stocked kitchens on both levels, never ran out of playes and cups!
Stunning view from the pool, we all commented on how unique the setting was. We loved picking fresh fruit everyday from the garden!
Used the bikes a few times to cycle to the bakery for morning goods but you definately need a car being in this area. Excellent service from Nikos at Star Villas. We had cars for 12 of the days and used them everyday for travelling all over the island and for the evenings down to Sami for dinner.
Would definitely recommend this villa and will definately return in the future!

Perfect pool and glorious setting
Three generations (9 of us in all) had the most wonderful week here. The pool has gentle steps and easy access for kids with a great shallow end. This did not hinder the adult swimmers.
The views to the mountains were stunning and the large garden kept us very private. Star-gazing was splendid!
The villa was well-equipped and comfortable.
We loved the area - Sami has good food shops and lots of restaurants - we really liked Dolphins.
We visited Myrtos, Petani and Antisamos beaches all good but not sandy. Assos was a delightful lunch stop - try O Platanos for meat and game.
None of us wanted to leave!

Our party comprised 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 5 grandchildren. The Walnut Tree was an idyllic property, in the perfect location, situated just outside Sami in a quiet area of the countryside. The property was very well maintained and had all the facilities one could need. The fact that the property comprises two self contained apartments worked well as the first floor provided a quiet area away from the garden and swimming pool. We were also impressed by the fact that the property was cleaned and seviced twice per week. The swimming pool was perfect for the family and was in constant use. It was also kept in perfect condition and was cleaned and serviced on the same days as the roomsThe BBQ area was used a lot and it was very enjoyable to sit outside under the stars eating and drinking after a day's exertion. We covered most of the island during our stay and found that Sami was the location that met our family's needs best, the town offered all the shopping outlets that were needed and there was a good choice of restaurants and bars. There were also a number of places of interest locally that helped entertain the children and the grownups, the Drogarati caves, the Melissani underground lake, and also horse riding and donkey trekking that can be found nearby. A search on the internet also gave us leads as to some local festivals that were taking place, one of these was a music and dance festival, at Falaga in the wine area, which we visited one evening (OK if you like a late night). We also hired boats in Agia Effimia and spent the day swimming off the boats and mooring at secluded beaches. Trips to the pretty villages Fiskado and Assos also provided pleasant day trips out and some stunning scenery..Whilst we visited Mirtos Beach for one day we were not impressed with the facilities there, and we preferred to use the more local beach at Adissamis Bay where you had all the facilities, bar, restaurant and water sports. As you can probably tell our holiday in Sami was a hit with all that went and The Walnut Tree provided a perfect base from which to see the highlights of Kefalonia.

The properties were fantastic, beautifully appointed for a wonderful holiday
We were a family of 12, ranging from 2yrs to 83yrs. Celia was in constant touch making sure that every wish was fulfilled. She arranged a taxi on arrival at the airport and then for departure. The villas were filled with every conceivable item you needed. Fantastic music library, good wifi and films galore. Lots of pool equipment and games. The only thing that I wasn't aware of was that the top and bottom villa were 2 seperate villas on top of each other with an external staircase. There were 4 little children and they slept uostairs( with their parents!) but when they went to bed we had to lock them in so I would advise taking a baby monitor! It worked out fine but is worth bearing in mind. It is certainly not a crtisism of this lovely place. The beds were comfy, bathrooms well equipped as was the whole place actually and there was so much storage! Although to be honest you don't really need that many clothes! The Windows all have shutters and mosquito netting. We didn't see many actually and used the little coil burners every night when we sat outside. There are mosquito swats in every room which is actually a great and very useful touch. Even adapter plugs in all the drawers! The hairdryers in the bathrooms are very powerful so you don't need your own!The weather was fabulous. The pool is gorgeous and not too deep. There is a dark blue line in the shallow end that the children learnt not to cross unless we were in the pool too. There are shallow steps into it which they loved playing on. I could stand in most of it easily. There is lots of shade, loads of beds and great seating outside for eating. A BBQ area, that is hidden behind a hedge, vines, fruit trees galore and an enormous garden that Celia puts her heart and soul into. It is all very safe and secure. The children loved all the little hiding places and the lawn to play football on. We loved hunting for the tiny lizards that are everywhere, although we never saw them inside!
It is wonderfully situated with very few neighbours, the sounds of the countryside, bells of the goats and the occasional squawk from a peacock!! You do really need a car as although walkable to the nearest village to the gorgeous bakery quite a trek still, especially in the heat. It wasn't a problem at all though. Sami is wonderful, full to bursting with places to eat authentic Greek food, ice creams and cofffe with cake. There's a new supermarket, although plenty of choice from the older ones. I could go on & on!

Stunning, Beautiful, Relaxing Villa
It was our second visit to The Walnut Tree after loving it so much last year. The Walnut Tree is the most idyllic, beautiful, clean, spacious villa, suitable for a large family. We actually cannot find any fault with it and can recommend it completely to anyone wanting to visit the gorgeous island of Kefalonia.

Awesome family villa perfect in every way
From the time we booked the villa Celia could not have been more helpful. She was extremely pleasant to talk to & went over & above to ensure that our stay in the Walnut Tree was perfect. The villa is everything & more that Celia says it is. There was nothing more we needed or could have asked for.It was spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated. The outside gardens were so pretty & well kept. The swimming pool was perfect for the grandchildren as it had a shallow end perfect for their ages 2 -5. They used to watch the bats dive bombing the pool at dusk.It is also a perfect location & within an hour's driving of most places or less. Sami is literally a 5minute drive where there are a few supermarkets & an abundance of restaurants & coffee shops. Whilst the supermarkets stocked most things we found it much cheaper to shop at Lidls in Argostole about 3/4 hour away, we combined the shopping trip with a trip into the town to see the turtles that swim around the fishing boats there, an amazing site, followed by a coffee in one of the seafront restaurants & then a quick shop on the way home. It was a family vacation plus our youngest son's wedding in nearby Assos. Can I just say if anyone is considering a wedding abroad I can't recommend Assos highly enough. It was a truly magical day, perfect from start to finish. Greece is so picturesque & the people so friendly, don't think I'll ever see another wedding like it!
We didn't get to see all the island which is probably Celia's fault because the villa was sooooo beautiful we couldn't drag everyone away from it, but we will definitely return. Before I finish I also have to mention Spyros who met us & showed us around the villa on the first day there. He was a lovely man & gave us lots of advice on where we should go whilst there & helped us out by replacing a buggy for our youngest grandchild as it had been damaged by the baggage handlers.....he replaced it within half an of being there! I could go on & on but may bore you, all I can say is if you are considering renting this villa do it, don't hesitate because someone else might get it before you & then you'll have missed out on a wonderful experience. Thank you so much again Celia for making our holiday/wedding week an amazing one & giving us some special memories. We would love to return one day.......you never know they might re-new their vows out there!!

Fabulous Walnut Tree
Our second stay at The Walnut Tree in as many years. We absolutely love it there. It really is a fabulous house, with everything you could possibly need, from lovely swimming pool, air conditioned bedrooms, great BBQ area, pro boules pitch, ping pong table, the list goes on and on, but the beautiful garden is the icing on the cake. Lying out on the sun loungers after dark, spotting shooting stars is also magical!
The location is great - just a short drive from everything you could need in the charming and quiet small town of Sami - and many great beaches.
The taverna at Agia Paraskevi through Karavomilos, on the road to Agia Effimia is one of our all time favourite places to go for lunch.
Can't wait to go back again!

Amazing house for large group, excellent location
Thank you so much for this beautiful stay in Kefalonia!
We were a large group of 12, but the Walnut Tree House managed to accommodate us perfectly. The beds are comfortable, even the extra 2 sofa beds are reasonable and there are enough bathrooms and toilets. The highlight however is the kitchen (both of them!) and its equipment. I have never rented a house that well equipped! There is nothing missing, pots and pans to cook and feed 12 hungry mouths! The bbq area works great as well, and thanks to the beautiful seating area we spent cosy nights outside (mosquitos though, you want to bring some repellent).
The garden and the pool are simply beautiful and so peaceful. We even had some homegrown fruit and vegetables!
Celia was very accommodating for our complicated travel arrangements, some of us had to leave earlier etc. Communication was easy and no question remained unanswered. On site, Spyros was friendly, approachable and always happy to help. He reserved us a table at his in-laws restaurant, Zervati, which has a beautiful garden and excellent food and service!
I would definitely recommend to rent a car once you are in Kefalonia, as you can discover everything the island has to offer in less than an hour from Sami. Hence, the location of The Walnut Tree is perfect, also Sami is a very nice place to go for a quick gyros or some nice seabass.
I can only recommend the Walnut Tree House for a stay in Kefalonia, especially for a larger group of friends or family as there is enough room for everyone to do their own thing during the day, but equally it is possible to sit everyone around one table for dinner!
Thank you for having us!

Stunning Villa on the most beautiful island
The reviews that go before say it all...
The Walnut Tree is simply the most idyllic, beautiful, well equipped villa anybody could ever ask for, set in a stunning setting where nobody could ever tire from the view or the peace and quiet.
We have just returned from a two week holiday, the first time to Greece, with our large family - me, husband and 7 children aged 10 to 18. There is something for everyone ... even the teenagers were kept amused with the table tennis, boule court and large pool. Not an iPad or phone screen was looked at ... bliss!!
The villa is actually perfect for a large family or two separate families holidaying together as the top of the villa is a beautiful separate apartment (view - amazing!). In our case, it was used by the teenagers who enjoyed having their bit of independence of staying up later than us and playing cards, whilst still being in the same villa. Perfect.
The villa is extremely clean, well equipped and we wanted for nothing! The large bbq area and gardens are an added bonus to the villa and add to its charm.
As for the island, there is so much to see and explore, we could not do it all in 2 weeks. It has a bit of everything really: beaches, coves ideal for snorkelling, walks worth doing just for the views, lovely restaurants, gorgeous cafes, small towns to potter in, bakeries to expand the waist line ... etc etc. The small 'town' of Sami is a 5 minute drive from the villa and has everything you need so you don't have to travel far if you don't want to, although I do recommend seeing as much of the island as possible.
Celia - the owner of the villa - is excellent with her communication and could not have done more for us. Spyros, a local man who takes care of the villa, gave us invaluable advice of where to visit and is at hand to sort out any problems that might occur during your stay.
Celia - Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home ... and we shall definitely be back if you'll have us!

Sheer bliss! Fabulous Villa in a superb location
Well… where do I start? The positives will just go on and on.
My family and I (age range 3 years up to 65 years) were looking for a villa that had enough space to accommodate 11 people, was situated on a picturesque island and had lots of places to visit and explore. How lucky we were that our search came across The Walnut Tree, it ticked all the boxes. Our recent family holiday was absolutely perfect.
During the two very happy weeks that we spent there, we found the villa matched, if not exceeded, all of our expectations and was exactly as described on the website. We found it to be extremely clean, nice and spacious, very well equipped and very comfortable. The pool was perfect for all age groups and just the right depth. The outdoor space with vast private gardens and beautiful views was truly idyllic for sitting and relaxing during the sunny days and evenings. We were even lucky enough to watch the moon come up and illuminate one of the mountain sides…. It was magical…
We found the location of the villa was perfect too, the beautiful port of Sami had plenty of tavernas to choose from and good mini markets, butchers and bakeries if buying food to eat in. We hired cars during our stay and Sami was ideally situated to visit all corners of the island. We enjoyed days out to Fiscardo, Agia-Efimia, Skala, Katelios, saw the beautiful turtles at Argostoli, did lots of water sports and snorkelled in clear blue water at Antisamos beach, visited the caves at Mellissini and took a boat trip to Ithaca.
Whilst in Kefalonia we had no issues regarding the recent euro problems seen in the media, our debit and credit cards worked everywhere and nowhere was there evidence of a euro crisis on the island.
I would highly recommend you make contact with Celia, (the owner) as she is extremely helpful, as are the team that look after you once on holiday. If you’re considering a holiday in Kefalonia, then look no further as The Walnut Tree is ‘PERFECT’.

A hidden treasure, perfect for a special occasion
This was the most blissful place where we celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. Everyone had the best time, thanks to the owner's attention to the tiniest detail. Our every need and suggestion was catered for. It is faultless and in a wonderfully unspoilt spot, where all the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful. Kefalonia is heaven on earth - don't listen to the stories in the media! It is functioning perfectly in every way and would like us all to visit and enjoy its beauty: the gorgeous countryside, the clear, warm sea and endless sun. The food and local wine are also completely delicious. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful property in still fabulous Kefalonia
My wife and I, together with our two young children (aged five and two) have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Walnut Tree and felt it important that we share our experience, since there has been much spoken and written in the media about what is currently happening in Greece.
First of all let me start with The Walnut Tree itself. It is lovely. The property is in a stunning location in a quiet corner of a beautiful island yet everything you could need is within easy reach (my waistline is testament to the excellent local bakery). The villa is elegant and very functional with all the amenities you could think of for adults and kids and the pool is wonderful (cleverly designed so that young kids can enjoy it too).
The gardens are a particular highlight with fruit trees, olive groves and fragrant herbs all over the place and BBQs are an evening treat to enjoy in the spectacular surroundings with the local wine or beer!
But, what of Greece? It has gone to hell in a hand basket, right? Well, not on the evidence of our trip to Kefalonia (which is all I can speak to). Yes, we did take cash as per the warnings, but we tried to use it sparingly and every time our cards were presented, they were accepted (we came home with half our Euros!).
I have no point of reference of better times, but I saw no closed businesses, no queues at cash points, no unrest of any sort. Was the crisis on people's minds? Yes (how could it not be?), but the Greeks were delightful, friendly, welcoming and made our holiday a real treat. If we have any desire to help them out then we shouldn't stay away, we should continue to visit what is a spectacular and hospitable place.

Everything we could ask for!
We had a wonderful family holiday (eleven of us ranging from 13 to 75), finding everything as described and spotlessly clean. The accommodation, facilities - the table tennis and boules were a big "hit" - and the setting (beautiful garden, barbecue, large terrace and pool) - were excellent and, although very rural, tavernas (5-10 minutes), shops (5 minutes) and beaches (15 minutes) were all within easy drives. Dealing with the owner and local agent was a pleasure: nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend The Walnut Tree.
